A Core Ship From The Start
Chapter 2633 - 1770: Breaking the Deadlock (Planning to Play Assassin’s Creed Shadows)
"-----------!"
Kane let out an angry roar.
Duanmu Huai grabbed him and slammed him to the ground. By now, the weapons on their bodies were all tossed aside, and the two deities clung together like street brawling ruffians, rolling continuously on the ground. Duanmu Huai could feel his body grinding against the ground, the sensation of shattering buildings and flesh, but none of this mattered to him at the moment.
"Die!"
Duanmu Huai raised his head, clenched his fist, and punched Kane’s face hard. The thick glove shattered instantly upon impact with Kane’s face. Kane roared in anger and raised his remaining right hand, clenching his fist as he punched Duanmu Huai’s head. This caused Duanmu Huai to momentarily black out, but he continued to grit his teeth, swinging another punch to drive Kane’s head into the ground, then raised his arms and forcefully tried to pull Kane’s skull out of his body!
Kane swung his right hand vigorously while clenching his teeth, attempting to bite off Duanmu Huai’s fingers that had reached into his mouth. Duanmu Huai strained every muscle, sensing his thumb tightly gripping Kane’s upper palate. Meanwhile, his index and middle fingers pierced Kane’s eye sockets, while his ring and little fingers gradually crushed Kane’s bones and penetrated into his temples.
"Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!"
At last, with Duanmu Huai’s furious roar, his fingers dug in further, then Duanmu Huai tightened his grip, pressed his knee against Kane’s chest, and raised both arms, violently tugging upwards!
"Boom---------!!!!!"
Amidst the volcanic eruption-like roar, surging, scorching, glaringly bright blood spurted from Kane’s neck, as his head was forcefully pulled out by Duanmu Huai, who held it aloft!
"Blood... this bad habit of mine needs to be changed."
Duanmu Huai instinctively wanted to shout, but managed to restrain himself; this was a bad habit from his player days. But it didn’t matter, once he dealt with that bastard, he’d seize the position, then he could shout however he wanted!
"Spirit race, it’s the end for you!"
Duanmu Huai’s hands clenched tightly, and the head of Kane raised high in his hands now exploded like a watermelon.
Blood sprayed forth, mixed with divine power, bathing Duanmu Huai, as a brilliant red orb brimming with ancient War God’s strength bloomed like fireworks, then was absorbed into Duanmu Huai’s body. Duanmu Huai could sense Kane’s soul desperately struggling, attempting a final resistance. Yet all this was a futile effort; Duanmu Huai’s body, like a blaze burning furiously, turned into a devouring flame that completely melted and absorbed Kane’s soul.
"Huu..." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Only now did Duanmu Huai take a breath, then stood up. He was also covered in wounds, but they were just minor injuries, nothing remarkable.
Looking around, everything was leveled by his and Kane’s battle, as if someone rolled over a sandbox model, leaving everything in disarray. In the distance, gunfire and the roars of the insect swarm could still be heard; it was clear the fighting wasn’t over.
Duanmu Huai moved his body, then activated the communications.
"What’s the situation now?"
The first to respond to Duanmu Huai’s inquiry was Aikute.
"Uncle, the Spirit race fleet has been completely destroyed, but our fleet suffered heavy losses under the swarm attack..."
Before Aikute could finish, Mary hurriedly interrupted.
"Mr. Duanmu, we’ve encountered demons!"
"Demons?"
Upon hearing this, Duanmu Huai frowned.
"Yes, a bunch of naked ones, very... indecent..."
Mary struggled to describe the appearance of the opponent as politely as possible, but even without explicit words, Duanmu Huai already guessed who had come.
Among the deities active on the Spirit race’s turf, there was only one evil God who could be so proactive!
Thinking about this, several thoughts flashed through Duanmu Huai’s mind, and he finally made a decision.
"Everyone, get ready for protection, activate location distress signals! Aikute, abandon the fleet! I want to destroy everything here completely!"
"Ah?"
"I’ll count to three, three, two, one......!"
As he shouted, Duanmu Huai raised his right hand, clenching his fist, then slammed it down onto the ground.
It was a scene as shocking as a star explosion.
The Spirit Tribe’s Ark, over a thousand kilometers long, exploded instantly, with the power of destruction spewing forth, sweeping everything away. Wherever it went, everything was destroyed. Steel warped and twisted, stones shattered and splintered, and even the insect swarm Leviathans, which could withstand macro cannon attacks, turned to dust upon contact with this power, let alone those ordinary swarms.
Nothing could survive in the face of this power, not even Duanmu Huai’s own Night Guards, who also vanished into ashes.
This was the power of the God of Destruction.
The power to destroy all.
"Huu..."
Duanmu Huai maintained a lying position, drifting in the universe filled with fragments, and yawned.
"Call Aikute and have her send a warship to bring us back."
Then, Duanmu Huai spoke.
By the time the pale-faced Mary and Lorena, along with others, returned to the Tribunal’s mothership, an hour had already passed.
"I really thought I would die..."
Recalling the previous events, Mary shivered. She certainly understood Duanmu Huai’s intention; fortunately, they, as members of the Tribunal, all wore the Sacred Badge. So, they weren’t shredded by Duanmu Huai’s God of Destruction’s power. As for those Night Guards, that’s a different story. Upon contact with Duanmu Huai’s divine power, their souls were transported back to the Divine Realm, naturally suffering no harm.
But, that scene was just too terrifying!
The sky split, the earth crumbled, demons and palaces turned into dust and fragments before their eyes. Not to mention, after that, they drifted in space for more than half an hour, struggling with the sensation of having no up or down, left or right, unable even to maintain their balance; it was an awful experience. Especially just looking into the deep universe, Mary felt an overwhelming fear of being completely engulfed.
"Mr. Duanmu, why did you do that?"
Staring at Duanmu Huai, Mary complained discontentedly, while Duanmu Huai shrugged.
"Because the battlefield was too chaotic, and the arrival of demons did take me by surprise. Rather than dealing with problems one by one and adding variables, it was better to solve them all at once."
Duanmu Huai belonged to the type who, when his computer got a virus, would choose not to run a virus scan but format and reinstall the operating system directly.
Moreover, what he said wasn’t wrong; the appearance of the Obsessive Sin was indeed beyond Duanmu Huai’s expectations. Although he knew that in usual times, the Spirit Tribe’s Ark Mother Ship hides within the Net Path, using the Net Path to evade the hunting of the Evil God. Once appearing in the Material Universe, it can easily be invaded by the Evil God. But this time, the Evil God’s appearance was too strange; it seemed it had seized precisely this opportunity to appear.
If it were on the planet, Duanmu Huai would have directly issued the Extinction Order.
Flipping the table is always a suitable option when facing an Evil God.
"You also brought back a Spirit race?"
Mary looked somewhat surprised to see the Spirit race being held in Duanmu Huai’s hand.
"Yes."
Duanmu Huai nodded, shaking the Spirit race in his hand slightly.
"It might be the last surviving Spirit race; I pulled it out from Kane’s body."
"Pulled out?"
"That’s right, it should be similar to Kane’s possession kind of situation. Anyway, it won’t live long, but I cannot let it die right now."
"Why?"
"Because if the last Spirit race dies, then Shinigami will resurrect."
Duanmu Huai looked at Mary and began to explain.
"But I’m not sure what it will be like if Shinigami resurrects. If it resurrects, will it first eliminate the Evil God or will it sort me out first? Everything is unknown, so I plan to kill it and wake Shinigami when truly battling the Evil God."
"I see."
Upon hearing this, Mary understood Duanmu Huai’s intention.
"So what should be done now? Lock it up?"
"I have my means."
Duanmu Huai snapped his fingers, and the Spirit race disappeared into thin air.
"I won’t overlook the Spirit race’s escape abilities too much, and from my experience, the last individual of such a race may act surprisingly. I don’t want this Alien to mess up the Tribunal, so simply putting it away is more convenient."
"I see..."
Mary nodded, thinking Duanmu Huai’s reasoning made sense. After all, usually, in novels, characters with such setups are the protagonists.
If written from the Spirit race’s viewpoint, then we would be the villains who destroyed its habitat and killed its compatriots...
Hmm? Wait, are we the villains?
Mary silently dismissed this idea, feeling the answer... well, it’s self-evident.
"Aikute, how is the fleet situation over there?"
Ogis climbed onto Duanmu Huai’s shoulder like a cat, and Duanmu Huai petted Ogis’s head as he asked.
Facing Duanmu Huai’s inquiry, Aikute appeared quite dejected.
"The situation is very dire; we’ve lost two fleets, and nearly five thousand Power Armors... All these need time to replenish."
"Maria?"
"I’m overwhelmed here, aaaaahhhhh!!!"
Maria’s frantic voice was clearly audible through the terminal.
"Great Judge, next time can you give a heads-up when you do that! These are warships and Power Armors, not toys from roadside stalls!"
"I notified you ahead, three seconds in advance."
"Is this the time for such word games?"
Maria apparently was going crazy, Duanmu Huai decided not to provoke her further, thinking his joke could somewhat ease the atmosphere there.
Seems he lacks the ability to be a comedian.
As for Hei Chuan Chi Yin beside him, she was completely stunned.
To be honest, seeing Duanmu Huai destroy everything in such a manner, Hei Chuan Chi Yin felt her assessment of Duanmu Huai was still conservative.
But Hei Chuan Chi Yin wasn’t only surprised by this, but also by the reaction of those girls.
Although they did complain about Duanmu Huai, they didn’t find it strange he’d do such a thing, instead they complained only about Duanmu Huai’s lack of prior notification, not asking him not to do so.
Are Tribunal people... all this hardcore?
Hei Chuan Chi Yin felt if it were her, and Duanmu Huai did something like this, she’d likely be apprehensive and might never venture into battle with Duanmu Huai again. But seeing Mary and Lorena’s reactions, it seemed more like they complained about Duanmu Huai’s surprise tactic dirtying their clothes...
Could it be my common sense is problematic?
Hei Chuan Chi Yin couldn’t help but doubt her sixteen years of memory.
Or maybe the issue is with my world, and this sort of thing is normal in the universe?
Duanmu Huai was unaware that Hei Chuan Chi Yin was already questioning her worldview; he was continuing his communication with Maria.
"How much time is needed?"
"Three months! At least three months! This is under reduced work periods; it can’t be shorter!"
"Let’s leave it at that."
Duanmu Huai silently sighed, although the attack caused some losses, compared to the gains, it wasn’t bad.
At least, the Spirit race’s greatest trump card is now in his hands.
