Chapter 1944: Combined Status

-----

While Elena tried to check Elisa and Monica’s status again, a sudden prompt flashed before her eyes.

Ding!

[Due to an automatic command, you have exchanged 300 Skill Points.]

[You have learned the Subclass Skill: [Information Pop-up – Tier 1: Level 1/10]]

Suddenly, Elena could see their status without the girls needing to show it. In fact, she could now view the status of any System wielder around her.

Her mother’s status looked strange, constantly glitching and still in the process of being created.

Using her new skill, she examined her friends’ updated status windows.

"R-Rich Girl? Introverted? Huh? Cursed? That’s a whole Class?!" Elena exclaimed. "Zero Presence? Is that from the Introverted Subclass? Wait—what even is Friendless?!"

"Eek! Don’t look at my status!" Monica cried, covering her face in embarrassment. "I screwed up and picked a bad subclass..."

"Yeah," Elisa sighed. "At least I chose Rich Girl. It lets me store anything I consider valuable in a special treasury subspace I can actually enter—unlike the regular inventory. Money Exchange also lets me convert that wealth into System Points and more."

"Oh, that sounds great!" Elena said. "Dragon Claw and Scale Protection are interesting. So you got Scale-Bound? Sounds solid."

"Yeah, but this dummy ended up with something weird," Elisa continued. "Her class is literally called ’Cursed,’ and... I still don’t know why that’s even a thing."

"They aren’t bad skills..." Monica fidgeted, cheeks flushed. "Cursed Presence weakens enemies around me, and Foul Blood turns my own blood into a poisonous miasma. It has its uses, right?"

"I-I guess?" Elisa replied with a shrug. "At least we can share skills between us, so she can use my stronger ones. But what do Zero Presence and Friendless even do?"

"I don’t know!" Monica wailed. "Don’t judge me..."

"Come on, girls, don’t fight," Elayne interjected gently. "Though I must admit, I’m quite curious now... This System is truly remarkable, Frank. But I wonder—what is its origin? You see, we’ve encountered another System before... That’s why we’re so intrigued."

"I see. I did sense something familiar interfering earlier..." Frank nodded thoughtfully. "So that’s how it is. Incredible. If that’s the case... Well, I don’t know much myself, but I’m fairly certain these Systems are more than mere relics. They’re powerful, god-like entities whose true purposes remain unclear to me. What System are you referring to, Sensei?"

"Hmm. It was a far larger system that covered an entire world," Elayne explained. "Everyone had it."

"An entire world... Wait, what world?" Frank asked.

"There’s only one world, right?" Harumi added.

"I mean, you could consider Realms as their own worlds, couldn’t you?" Matsuo wondered.

"I’ve heard there are many inhabited planets within the Astral Plane," Frank said. "But that’s beside the point... Could you tell us more?"

"Hmm... It’s complicated, but you’ve already revealed so much to us. It would feel wrong to keep you in the dark," Elayne sighed. "Girls, how about we tell them the origin of your powers?"

"...! But Mom, is that okay?" Elena asked, alarmed.

"It’s fine. They had to know eventually," Elayne replied. "I trust them."

"...Okay," Elena nodded.

Thus, Elayne and Elena revealed the truth about BNLO to everyone present: that it was actually a real world called Arcadia—the same one responsible for the First Contact.

They didn’t share the entire story, but they explained how some people had manifested the powers from their BNLO avatars in reality. Among them were Elena and her friends, whose avatars had merged with them by accident. Elayne avoided deeper details but did mention that she had died fighting the Demon King of Death—an enemy from BNLO who had pursued them into the real world during their visit to Avalon, the Realm of Spirits and Fairies.

She described how the Demon King had used a powerful demon to seduce and brainwash the Fairy King, turning him against them. The overwhelming difference in power had led to their defeat. Even now, the memory stung deeply, fueling Elayne’s burning desire to return to Avalon and claim her revenge.

Yet could she even do so? As a Heroic Spirit, she remained bound to Japan’s Spiritual Veins. She was growing stronger, evolving... but she first needed to become an independent being no longer tethered to Tokyo’s ley lines.

"That’s... a lot to process. Oh my god..." Frank muttered, visibly stunned.

"It’s amazing, though," Harumi said.

"So you girls could be the key to finally ending the undead invasion?" Matsuo asked.

"Big maybe," Elena replied. "We’re nowhere near strong enough yet... I had barely recovered my power before Mom died. But the System you gave us should help accelerate our growth."

"I see..." Frank nodded slowly. "I wouldn’t get involved if the fate of this country—or the world—weren’t at stake. If you’re truly that important... then we have to help."

"We’ve got enough problems here already..." Harumi sighed.

"I agree. This is a bit much," Maria added, shaking her head. "We came primarily to eliminate the Nightmares spreading in the area, but... to think there were people like this involved too."

"Maria! You’re hiding plenty of secrets yourself, aren’t you?" Elisa suddenly confronted her. "But I guess you’d never reveal them, huh?"

"...?" Maria’s eyes narrowed. "They’re missions assigned by the Dream Warrior Academy. It’s important to keep them private, but... it’s not like I’m ashamed of why we came here. Elena already knows most of it."
