Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 1099: No One Came
Three days later, Stella Charlie woke up from her slumber.
Smelling the familiar yet disgusting scent of disinfectant, and looking at the IV bottle hanging on the bed frame, she felt a bit dazed.
She mistakenly thought she had returned to the time of her blindness, expecting the appearance of that familiar perfume scent for a moment.
Then she recalled the events that had happened during this period.
There was nothing in the air except the smell of disinfectant.
The hospital room was empty, once again making her feel like someone abandoned by the world.
She tried to sit up, but the pain in her waist and back forced her to lie back down.
"You woke up?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Stella turned to look towards the door, seeing Kai Jacobs walk in from outside holding a stack of papers.
Kai clearly felt relieved, smiling as he said, "You finally woke up, let me call the doctor."
Stella’s mind was still a bit hazy, unable to remember what had happened before she fell asleep.
After checking her, the doctor also felt relieved: "It’s nothing serious, after two days of observation you can be discharged. You can eat at noon, need to follow up on nutrition, this girl’s constitution is too weak."
"Alright, thank you doctor."
After the doctor left, Stella finally asked Kai, "...Senior, why are you here?"
"You haven’t been to school for quite a few days, when I called, a hospital nurse answered, and I only then found out you had an incident."
Stella: "...How long have I slept?"
Kai: "Including today, four days."
Stella hesitated for a moment and quietly asked, "...Has he been here?"
"Your boyfriend?"
The term "boyfriend" felt a bit unfamiliar to Stella, though she had indeed introduced Vincent Warner to Kai like that before.
Thinking back now, it was probably just wishful thinking.
"No one has been here."
Kai’s answer shattered the fantasy in Stella’s heart.
A bit disappointed, but it was what she expected.
"I came to talk to you about something." Kai sat on the chair beside the bed, "There are a few slots for studying abroad at the school, I recommended you. The teachers also really like your talent for languages, saved a spot for you, and asked me to get your opinion."
"...Study abroad?" Stella was clearly a bit hesitant.
Kai: "I sent the details to your phone, look it over when you have time, think about it. You can respond after being discharged."
Stella was a bit distracted, still thinking about why Vincent Warner hadn’t come to see her in all these days.
After waiting another day at the hospital, Stella still hadn’t received any news from Vincent, not even a single text message.
When Kai went to buy lunch, she snuck out of the hospital.
When she returned home, she found a thin layer of dust had settled on the furniture.
Clearly, Vincent hadn’t come back these days either.
The brief company during those days made Stella feel like it was all a dream.
She hung up on Kai’s call and turned off her phone.
Changed clothes and went to the bar Vincent had visited before.
Unfortunately, this time she didn’t have a chance encounter with Vincent at the bar.
"A glass of Wanderer, please." Stella sat at the bar, ordering the strongest drink in the place.
She didn’t remember how many glasses she drank, her consciousness gradually blurring amidst the fast-paced music.
Around eight in the evening, while Kai was about to report to the police to find someone, he received a call from a friend: "Kai, come over to the bar where we had the birthday party last time. I saw a girl who looks a bit like our junior, but she’s dressed very sexy and mature, I’m not sure, come and take a look, I’ll keep an eye on her for you."
