Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 1102: I Divorced Her
"Stella, there’s an important Chinese client this afternoon. Get ready and wait for my notification." The boss, a woman in her forties, spoke fluent French.
Stella Charlie nodded and replied in French: "Okay."
They had worked together for over two years and had become like friends. The boss took a sip of coffee and asked with concern, "How was the date yesterday?"
Stella smiled, shrugged her shoulders, and shook her head, saying, "He said he likes long hair."
The boss chuckled lightly, not taking it seriously, and responded, "I’ll introduce you to someone else another day."
"Actually, I’m not in a hurry to get married."
"Oh no." The boss immediately retorted, laughing, "Sometimes just enjoy the process of dating. You’re so beautiful, there are actually many men pursuing you, why not give it a try?"
Stella’s smile froze a bit, and she joked, "Maybe dating isn’t something I enjoy."
"I think you have someone important in your heart."
The boss’s offhand remark made Stella’s thoughts wander for a moment.
She changed the subject and asked, "Should I first understand the client information?"
"No need, thank you. Since it’s a very important client, I’ve already looked into it myself. You could take this opportunity to teach me some Chinese?"
Stella readily agreed: "Sure." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The relaxed atmosphere ended the moment Stella saw the "important client."
Even if she hadn’t flinched when doing live translations at international conferences, her steps froze at the meeting room door this time.
The boss stepped forward and greeted the man sitting at the conference table in the newly learned Chinese: "Hello, nice to meet you."
Only after saying this did she notice Stella hadn’t followed her in.
Vincent Warner moved his gaze away from Stella and greeted the lady in front of him.
Only then did Stella catch up and take her seat next to her boss.
Vincent spoke French and could communicate fluently with Stella’s boss, making Stella feel a bit redundant.
Stella couldn’t really focus at the moment either.
In the past four years, she hadn’t completely avoided meeting Vincent, but there hadn’t been any direct communication.
After Vincent and Chloe Swift got married, both of them had come to find her.
Back then, Vincent looked entirely repressed, but Stella never asked why—the conversations were always brief and ended unhappily.
Chloe had come to her to announce her pregnancy and to ask her not to entangle with Vincent anymore.
It wasn’t hard to see that their marriage wasn’t happy, but Stella had always kept herself out of it, unwilling to get involved again.
Stella vaguely sensed that Vincent’s purpose this time didn’t seem to be purely about work.
Fumbling through the end of the meeting, Stella didn’t want to linger a moment longer and promptly followed her boss out of the conference room.
After work, as soon as she reached her doorstep, she saw Vincent standing outside the porch.
After a brief pause in her steps, Stella walked forward confidently, ignoring Vincent’s presence, and moved past him directly to the door, bending down to unlock the door.
"...I divorced her." Vincent spoke softly.
Stella paused in her action of pushing the door open, replied in French with indifference and formality: "That’s truly unfortunate."
As if she were merely a passerby who overheard the news of a divorce, with little emotional fluctuation, she pushed the door and went inside.
Vincent reached out to block the door. Stella glanced up at him, but didn’t argue, quietly let go, turned around, and bent down in the hallway to change out of her high heels.
"I saw you at the restaurant yesterday. Were you on a date with that man?" Vincent’s tone was very calm. Though he wouldn’t be happy, he knew he had no right to interfere with Stella’s life choices.
