A Farmer's Journey To Immortality-Chapter 473: “Don’t Try to Face Every Challenge Alone.”
The Blackblood Lord let out a deep laugh that echoed through the room.
"Hahaha. Don't give me that look that screams 'how did you come to know?' right in my face."
He waved his hand casually and gave Aksai a sharp grin.
"Like I said, even though you don't carry the aura of a bloodline user, my bloodline powers can still sense when someone is different from a normal human. And you… you are very different."
His voice softened slightly but still held weight.
"Plus, there's one more reason. I knew you were special the moment you operated that Spirit formation based on the Heretic Dao in the Holy Land Torel. Do you know why?"
Aksai said nothing, but the question hung in the air. The Blackblood Lord continued.
"Because those who use Heretic Dao methods before reaching the Core Formation realm often lose control. Their minds become unstable. They suffer from sudden fits of madness, anger, sorrow—extreme emotions that twist them inside. And their life essence starts to rot with time."
He leaned back slightly against the bedrest, catching his breath before going on.
"Take the demonic cultivator Mao for example—the one whose inheritance you first received. He was already half-crazy, but as he advanced deeper into the Heretic Dao, he turned into a full-blown lunatic.
I'm told that you fought and killed him before taking away the Heretic Dao inheritance. Did you notice how old and weak he looked despite being a late-stage Foundation Building expert? He was indeed old. But there are many ways available for the Foundation Building Experts to extend their lifespans by years or even decades.
However, he couldn't make use of those ways because they weren't meant to be used by the practitioners of the Heretic Dao. His body failed because his life essence had already been eaten away by the Heretic Dao.
And this was when he only started seeing definite success in the practice of the Heretic Dao methods at the end of his lifespans. If he was as talented as you from the beginning, he might have died sooner as a petrified mummy."
The Blackblood Lord's eyes narrowed as he glanced at his son.
"Even Haitin, who only touched the Heretic Dao briefly in his attempts to free me from the Holy Land Torel, suffered for it. And my son is a careful man. But the Heretic Dao is not something ordinary. It has corrupted his life essence as well."
He coughed once, then looked at Aksai with a strange mixture of pride and hope.
"But your formations… the way you used those Heretic Dao techniques… They were almost perfect. I have been observing you all this while. You don't show any signs of losing control, you don't show signs of going mad.
And the reason for that is your soul is slightly more powerful than the regular Spirit cultivators of the Foundation Building realm. Your body is also capable of withstanding the strain that the Heretic Dao methods put on the users.
Your strong body and stable soul complement your Spirit essence and prevent it from getting corrupted from the influence of the Heretic Dao. So you don't have any visible or hidden side effects of practising the Heretic Dao.
It was like you were born for the Heretic Dao techniques. That's not something just anyone can do."
There was a pause before his tone shifted to something more serious.
"You see, my daughter's condition also relates to life essence. Her special physique allows her to devour potent energies in any form. However, the more she prevents herself from doing that, the more her physique starts to feed on itself.
Her physique is the reason behind her talent in the Spirit cultivation but it is slowly draining her life essence away. It's probably related to her mind, body, and spirit being in disharmony with each other.
By marrying her to you, I'm hoping you can one day find a way to heal her using the Heretic Dao's methods. I believe that only you can do this."
He raised a finger before Aksai could speak.
"Of course, if you can't, there are other ways. But those paths lie beyond the Shinayin Empire. And I wouldn't recommend taking Humeyin there before you all are powerful enough to protect yourself. Otherwise, she'd be targeted for her rare physique."
The old man smiled again and looked at Aksai before speaking further.
"Haitin must have told you. Our dream is to return to Dadangar's core region and bring back the glory of our clan."
He took a breath and looked straight into Aksai's eyes.
"I'm not asking you to marry my daughter simply because I'm impressed by you. I've seen a lot of impressive people in my life.
I'm asking this because I see something greater in you. The way I see it… you and Haitin… you both can help each other grow."
His voice became warmer, almost fatherly.
"Don't try to face every challenge alone, boy. Take it from someone who had fought alone in my youth and also learned how to manage a sect.
It's good to have a few people by your side whom you can trust. They help you and in return you help them. It's how life prospers.
In short, I'm not doing this just for Humeyin or Haitin. And I'm doing this for you alone. Or for the future of the Blackblood clan—its roots in this land, and its rise once we return to the core region.
I'm doing this for the collective good of all of you."
The Blackblood Lord gave a small laugh again.
"My son, Haitin, is a master of plans and schemes. His cultivation talent matches any top prodigy in the subcontinent. He is bold and clever, but his flaw is pride.
He thinks too highly of himself sometimes. But you… you have his strengths, and yet no trace of that pride.
It's as if you've already seen the vastness of the boundless worlds out there and the countless powers in the cosmos, and it has made you humble."
He smiled, a little softer now.
"I admire that. I want that calmness in you to balance my son's sharp mind. I've heard you two are already friends. But that won't be enough for what lies ahead.
I want you two to share a deeper bond. And what better way than through marriage?"
