A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 91: THE RIVER CREEK PACK
Chapter 91: THE RIVER CREEK PACK
Zuri was surprised with Rhett's answer when Khaos asked him whether or not he wanted to be the alpha.
As long as she knew him, he had never coveted that position. Or perhaps, her judgment was questionable and she didn't know Rhett as much as she thought.
Lately, her mind messed up with her badly. She didn't know what to believe, thus Khaos was the only person, who grounded her.
In the vast, wild ocean of her mind, Khaos was her anchor that kept her in place. She had never felt this strong feeling to anyone before.
"What are you going to do with my brother?" Zuri asked, she was resting her head on his lap, relishing his touch, as Khaos played with her hair. Whenever he did this, she would feel this sense of calmness. The ocean of her mind was quiet too. It was such a blessing when she would constantly hear unwelcomed voices in her head.
"Are you worried?" Khaos stared at her, thinking different thing completely.
A natural killing intent was not a trait that you would see every day. It was a useful talent that could be very lethal if you honed it right and now, the one, who had that was wrapped around his fingers.
Khaos couldn't really understand Zuri's obsession toward him, or the voices in her head, but she was too useful to be let go.
Her mind, her body, her instinct...
She didn't lie when she said truthfully that she was obsessed with him. He could see lie and Zuri was not really good at keeping lie. Even if she was pretending, she couldn't keep her façade for this long without having a few mishaps here and there.
"No..." Zuri shifted, so she could see his eyes. She loved the color of his grey eyes, they looked mysterious and held a deep secret.
"You are not sure with your answer," Khaos pointed it out, he leaned back and caressed her cheek instead, but Zuri took his hand and kissed his palm instead, she closed her eyes. "What if I ended up killing your favorite brother?" Khaos tilted his head. He wanted to see her reaction. "Will you avenge his death?"
Zuri opened her eyes and held his hand on her chest. "No."
"Hm, really?" Khaos chuckled. "You don't know that for sure until it happened."
Zuri then raised her arms and pulled his head down, so she could kiss him. Khaos had not yet touched her. He teased her here and there, but he had never taken thing further and this frustrated Zuri.
'Whore.'
Xaden's voice echoed in her mind and before she could see him, she closed her eyes and kissed him deeply.
"Mine," Zuri sighed against his lips. "You are my favorite now."
Later, when the sun set, Caiden knocked on the carriage and informed Khaos the gates of the River Creek pack was opened and they could enter.
"What are you going to do with Silas?" Caiden eyed Zuri from the window, who was sleeping peacefully, using Khaos's lap as pillow. She was so different from the one that had gone rampant hours ago. "His injuries have not been healed completely, without healer, it will take a day or two for him to fully recover. You don't want to call for a healer to check on him?"
"There is no need for that," Khaos replied, he absentmindedly played with Zuri's black hair. He liked the texture. "He is going to live."
Khaos then closed the window after he told Caiden that they would enter the River Creek pack's fortress.
Meanwhile, the gamma was still standing in the same position, his eyes trained at the carriage, as if he could see Khaos and Zuri inside. There were a lot of things that ran in his
mind.
His father and Bryden were right about being cautious with that woman, but of course, if they knew what happened today, they would try everything to make Khaos get rid of Zuri.
Even now, Caiden was not sure whether it was right to not say anything. The right thing to do was to inform Bryden or his father, but... he was hesitated.
Shaking his head, Caiden walked away from there and headed toward the warriors to inform them that they would proceed to enter the pack.
Rhett was there when they marched toward the pack house, he took the front position, guiding them.
People dispersed to give a way to the royal warriors, they looked terrified. They already heard about what happened to alpha Roland and was worry if the king would punish them too, since they were his pack member.
The tension was very high, murmurs floated in the air, as their gaze laced with fear.
However, they believed Rhett made the right decision. He assured them that everything would be alright and there was nothing to be worried about. The last son of the previous alpha had stepped in and was proven as a reliable person.
Once Khaos's entourage arrived at the pack house, they were given respective rooms, while all the warriors stayed in the warrior's quarters.
"What happened with him?" Rhett narrowed his eyes when he saw Silas's condition. He was still unconscious and there were some wounds that were still bleeding.
Caiden didn't answer him, instead he looked at the alpha, as he gestured for the two warriors, who helped to put Silas on the bed, to leave the room.
Would he believe it that Zuri was the one, who put her own brother in that state?
"You can leave too, Caiden," Khaos said.
"Hm?" Caiden furrowed his brows. "Me? Also leaving?" The gamma couldn't believe it. There
was no secret between them, but now he wanted to discuss something with Rhett without
him?
"Yes, leave."
Caiden wanted to protest, but once again, he saw that look on Khaos's face and swallowed
down his grievances.
"Are you sure?" The gamma looked hurt.
"Yes."
"Fine," Caiden grumbled sullenly, as he dragged his feet out of the room.
