Abyss Descension: I Perform Rituals to Evolve In The Apocalyps-Chapter 34: Female corpse spider
Chapter 34: Female corpse spider
"It's stronger than me even in terms of raw power!"
Ever since entering the Abyss, Kev had undergone countless physical enhancements. The runes extracted from the Revenant he'd slain, combined with his evolution from an ordinary man to a special-type low-rank class holder, had drastically elevated his body's capabilities, making him several times stronger than a normal human, but even so, his bodily might still paled in comparison to the monstrous might of the female Corpse Spider!
Whoosh!
Its attack continued relentlessly.
Kev was like a leaf in the wind, expertly maneuvering his body to dance around the edges of its attacks before leaping backward, putting some distance between them.
Then, without giving it time to react, he switched weapons.
His sword vanished, and in its place, a bow appeared in his hands.

Without hesitation, he drew the string taut.
Hundreds of black threads appeareed, quickly merging to form a sleek black bow that hovered in the air. It resembled the arrow he had dodged before killing Dakun.
Kev released the string, and the arrow shot forward, striking the spider where it hurts the most, taking out one of its breast and lodging deep in its chest.
The female Corpse Spider screeched, staring at Kev like he was dead meat, manipulated the very air itself, forming a wind blade.
With a wave of its hand, it shot toward Kev at incredible speed.
He stepped to the side almost comically, and the wind blade shot past him.
Immediately, another wind blade enlarged in front of his eyes.
He rolled to the ground on the spot, barely dodging it.
Just as he rose to his feet, several more wind blades barreled toward him, aiming to reap his life.
"You aren't the only one..." Kev muttered, his eyes turning pitch black. "... who can manipulate the elements."
Shadows rose from the ground, forming a thick wall of darkness before Kev.
One wind blade after another crashed into it, tearing it apart.
A wind blade shot through the crumbling wall, aiming straight for his head.
Kev tilted his head to dodge, but then a sharp itch flared across his neck, and a warm trickle followed.
His hand snapped up, almost reflexively, to touch the source of the strange sensation, and the instant his fingers touched his neck, a sharp pain shot through him, making him wince and suck in a cold breath. When he pulled his hand away, it was red and wet with fresh blood.
A fleeting glance at his bloodied fingers told him everything he needed to know.
Though he had managed to save himself from being decapitated by the wind blade shot by the Female Corpse Spider, he hadn't come away unscathed. It had left a shallow but painful cut across his neck.
'If I had been even a fraction slower,' he thought grimly, 'the consequences would've been far worse. I would've lost my head.'
Kev clenched his jaw, his heart racing as panic began to rise within him.
Suddenly.
He turned around and ran.
The female Corpse Spider naturally gave chase.
Thousands of miles away.
With the mirror projecting a 360-degree view of the area around the book she had sent to Kev on its surface,
Natasha silently watched the game of cat and mouse play out from the comfort of her private quarter in the Miracle Temple, alongside the elderly woman.
"He's running away out of fear," said Lydia, Natasha's maternal aunt.
"I don't believe it," Natasha said calmly.
"Why?" Lydia asked.
"Although I've only observed his life for a short while, it was enough for me to learn that he's not the type to choose flight over fight," Natasha replied. "He'd rather look death in the eye and battle to his last breath than leave his survival to chance."
"It doesn't seem like that," Lydia said.
"Look the weapon in his hands has changed. He's probably planning something." Natasha murmured. "We just need to wait for a while and we will get to see what it is."
Deep underground.
In the network of tunnels.
Kev was sprinting at full speed, yet he couldn't outrun it. The female Corpse Spider was twice his height, but it was faster than him. It was rapidly gaining up on him.
Kev felt like he'd lucked out. It had taken the bait he'd thrown out and fallen right into his trap. Honestly, it wasn't something to be surprised about. He was quite a good actor.
'It's time to bring this battle to its climax. Shadow Manipulation!'
Kev's eyes turned pitch black, and he began to manipulate shadows.
He didn't dare manipulate its shadow directly. He knew that would do him no good. The painful lesson he had learned while facing the evolved revenant with half a face—when he forcefully hijacked its shadow to drill a hole through its body—was still fresh in his mind.
A corpse collector should never attempt to control the shadows of beings stronger than themselves unless they wanted to experience a splitting headache. If he tried it on the female Corpse Spider, it might knock him out cold, and that would be a serious tragedy.
So, he focused solely on manipulating the stolen shadows in his possession, sneakily setting up a trap. Five figures' worth of shadows crept out from the one he cast on the ground while running from the female Corpse Spider.
These shadows waited patiently for it to draw closer.
When it did, a dark chain suddenly formed and rose about two feet above the ground, snagging its legs mid-sprint, tripping it violently, and sending it crashing to the ground.
This was what Kev had been waiting for.
He spun around and swung his sword with all his might.
"Forced Ascension!"
The stolen shadows in his possession were rapidly devoured as his blade gleamed with a dark, icy light. Then, a thin black line spread out from the tip of his sword.
Please work! Kev screamed in his heart as the black line broke free and raced toward the monster, which had just hit the ground with a thunderous thud and stirred up dust and shattered debris.
