Accidentally invincible!-Chapter 147 - 0: I’m Still a Child
Chapter 147: Chapter 0147: I’m Still a Child
Cheng Lingsu felt that the man beside her was so annoying.
He hadn’t stopped from the moment he began speaking.
But for some reason, even though she didn’t want to pay attention to him, listening to his words still made her secretly happy, as if she’d just had a taste of honey.
"This can’t go on. The Yellow Wind Demon is erratic in his movements, and we don’t even know if he has opened the Demon Path. If it’s been opened, it’ll be too much for just the few of us to handle," Jin Yang said.
Hao Tianhua fell into deep thought and brought out a thumb-sized wooden strip embedded with several Spirit Stone-like crystals.
He then formed a spell with his fingers, causing the surrounding demonic energy to gather toward the wooden strip.
As the demonic energy gradually poured in,
the crystals on the wooden strip began to light up—one, two, three, up to five in total before stopping.
"This isn’t good. When we first entered, the demonic energy only lit up two crystals. Now it’s five. The Yellow Wind Demon must have already opened the Demon Path," Hao Tianhua said solemnly.
Wu Ji, listening nearby, felt puzzled and asked, "Fellow Daoists, what exactly do you mean by the Demon Path?"
Hao Tianhua explained, "The Yellow Wind Demon entered this place thirty years ago. Various disciples from our sect came here searching for him, but he’s terribly cunning and has yet to be found. In fact, several fellow disciples have lost their lives here."
"The Yellow Wind Demon came here specifically to open the Demon Path. Once opened, Demons can pass through the pathway to this world."
Upon hearing about Demons, Wu Ji already felt a deep fear.
Demons had caused him so much pain; his heart had been weary for a long time.
"Daoists, since the Demon Path has already opened, there’s no point in staying here. We should leave quickly," Wu Ji said. He just wanted to get out of here and vowed on his future that he would never again casually venture into the unknown.
Kunyu Mountain might seem ordinary, but it harbored such dangers that no one would believe it upon hearing.
Hao Tianhua also decided to leave immediately and report to the elders. The Yellow Wind Demon had likely opened the Demon Path, and the demonic energy in this place was far stronger than before.
"Let’s move. Stay close to me and don’t look around casually—we don’t want trouble."
Wu Ji was overjoyed; he could finally leave this forsaken place.
Following Lin Fan here had been a mixed experience—Lin Fan profited handsomely, while Wu Ji hadn’t even gathered the faintest benefit, leaving him feeling quite bitter.
But none of that mattered anymore.
If he could finally get out, everything else would cease to be an issue.
Lin Fan, on the other hand, was rather carefree, staying close to Cheng Lingsu all along and never stopping once as he continually teased her.
Having grown up training in Kunxu Palace, Cheng Lingsu, while not entirely naive, still had an air of pure simplicity.
Apart from cultivating, the overt and covert rivalries among True Disciples had taught Cheng Lingsu the importance of protecting herself and staying cautious.
On normal days, she had never encountered someone like Lin Fan—so endlessly persistent and chattering away non-stop.
Annoyed?
Well, yes, a little annoyed.
But Lin Fan’s words were all compliments, which sparked a small sense of pride within Cheng Lingsu.
So, I’m this remarkable, huh?
No one had ever spoken about me like this before.
"Lingsu, your life in the sect must be so dull. What kind of pets do you like raising?" Lin Fan asked.
Cheng Lingsu’s opinion of Lin Fan subtly shifted; she didn’t completely ignore him anymore.
"Cats," she replied.
Though the answer was curt, the fact that she spoke at all was already progress.
"Cats, huh? They’re such adorable creatures. If you take good care of them, who knows? Maybe someday they could become Cat Immortals."
"But do you know what I enjoy raising most? You definitely wouldn’t guess."
Lin Fan posed the question knowingly, assuming Lingsu might not answer. Yet, having noticed her competitive streak, he added teasingly, "I bet you don’t know," sparking her winner’s instinct.
"Dogs?"
"Nope."
"Also cats?"
"Nope."
Cheng Lingsu thought for a moment, shook her head, and said, "Then what is it?"
"My favorite thing to raise... is you." Lin Fan gazed deeply into Cheng Lingsu’s eyes, his look so heartfelt it made her, usually icy and aloof, feel too shy to meet his gaze directly.
"You’re so shameless!" Cheng Lingsu huffed, her pale face blushing slightly. Though she seemed indignant, her true feelings remained an enigma.
Seizing the moment, Lin Fan added, "If I am shameless, it’s only shamelessness reserved for you. Even if others rolled on the ground three hundred and sixty times begging for it, I wouldn’t indulge them!"
"You’re so glib. Judging by how smooth-talking you are, you must be very clever," Cheng Lingsu replied, not realizing the conversation had encouraged her—normally reluctant to speak with others—to talk at such length with Lin Fan.
Inside, she swung between anger and shyness. If not for the depth of her self-control, she might’ve found herself stomping her feet in playful frustration, teasing him with, "You’re unbelievable!"
"Whether or not I’m clever, I can’t be sure. But I think maybe you’re not too bright," Lin Fan teased.
"You...!" Cheng Lingsu was quite irritated. The guy who had just been showering her with praise suddenly switched tactics—how frustrating!
Lin Fan glanced at her chest as if to say: "Maybe your intelligence is growing somewhere else."
"Don’t be mad! Let me test you. Out of eldest, second, third, fourth, and husband, which one is unrelated?" Lin Fan asked.
Cheng Lingsu was still upset and replied immediately without thinking, "Husband."
"Aiyoo, sweetheart!" Lin Fan called out with exaggerated affection.
Cheng Lingsu instantly realized she’d been tricked again. Infuriated, she began hitting Lin Fan’s arm, all the while fuming, "If you keep this up, I’m really not going to talk to you anymore!"
Walking ahead while vigilantly scanning their surroundings, Hao Tianhua had been quietly listening to their chatter.
Internally, he was unbalanced.
What in the world?
Lingsu? The famously aloof junior sister of the sect who intimidated even fellow disciples?
Now look at her. How was this happening?
She had known Lin Fan for less than an hour, and yet they were interacting like lifelong friends.
And the topics they discussed... definitely weren’t ordinary.
"Wu Daoist, the one accompanying you seems quite formidable," Hao Tianhua remarked, suspecting that Lin Fan was clearly courting their treasured junior sister.
And judging by appearances, he seemed to be succeeding.
Cheng Lingsu had gone from initial frostiness to being all but charmed into lighthearted smiles. Hao Tianhua couldn’t make sense of it.
Wu Ji misinterpreted Hao Tianhua’s comment as a compliment and responded, "Naturally, this fellow Daoist I know is no ordinary man."
If Wu Ji knew Lin Fan was flirting with Kunxu Palace’s True Disciple, he might drop to his knees and shout, "Daoist, stop flexing! You’re making my scalp tingle!"
Right then.
Lin Fan seized Cheng Lingsu’s hand effortlessly, saying, "Don’t ignore me. Eh? Why is your hand so cold? Don’t move—I’ll warm it up for you."
Cheng Lingsu struggled and glared at Lin Fan, her lips slightly parted as if muttering, "Let go."
Lin Fan had expected her to yank her hand away fiercely but was astonished when she only shot him a glowering look. Well then, holding hands was practically harmless, right?
"Is it still cold?" Lin Fan ignored her expression and asked warmly.
At that moment, Cheng Lingsu was thoroughly flustered. This wasn’t appropriate, but the feeling was novel. Her usually calm heart raced like a startled fawn.
Hao Tianhua had intended to ask Cheng Lingsu about something but froze when he caught sight out of the corner of his eye—Lin Fan was holding Cheng Lingsu’s hand, and they were silently walking side by side.
To Hao Tianhua, it seemed like he had just uncovered a scandal of unimaginable proportions.
His mind went blank.
Absolute chaos.
East, west, south, north—he couldn’t tell direction anymore.
This couldn’t go on.
It absolutely couldn’t.
If this continued, junior Sister would really slip away.
"Ahem!" Hao Tianhua faked a cough and reminded her, "Junior Sister Lingsu, you must stay focused on the surroundings. We are still in a dangerous place where threats could arise at any moment. Don’t be careless."
Startled, Cheng Lingsu quickly withdrew her hand.
Though shy, she returned to her typical icy demeanor, keeping people at arm’s length.
"Okay, I understand," she replied.
Feeling uneasy, she distanced herself and moved several steps ahead, leaving Lin Fan behind.
Lin Fan squinted, shooting Hao Tianhua a glare. This guy was awful. Was interrupting such a heartwarming moment really necessary?
On the surface, Cheng Lingsu seemed calm once again. Internally, she couldn’t quiet her turbulent thoughts.
She couldn’t believe she had allowed anyone to hold her hand.
Not only was she not angry, but it seemed she might even want more.
Turning her head to glance at Lin Fan, she caught his knowing smile and instantly looked away, her heart racing.
Have I fallen for him?
Cheng Lingsu questioned herself.
Impossible—they’d just met. How could such thoughts arise?
Still, she wondered: If he stayed around, and they truly got to know one another over time, maybe... it wasn’t entirely out of the question.
No, no, she had to stop herself from thinking like that.
This wasn’t the real her.
"Why are you walking so fast? I almost couldn’t keep up. Good thing the one ahead is you—even our hasty journey became worthwhile, giving me the energy to take three extra steps and catch up," Lin Fan cheekily chimed as he followed her.
Hao Tianhua had thought his warning would make Cheng Lingsu more vigilant.
But clearly, Lin Fan had chased her down again.
Damn it!
This was outright insolence—to flirt with their junior sister openly in front of her seniors?
Brother, can’t you exercise a little restraint? Is such audacity really appropriate?
If I don’t smash your head in with a punch, would you even get the message?
During this period,
Lin Fan had gradually understood Cheng Lingsu’s personality. That icy facade was merely an act—deep down, she was a girl longing for amusement and affection.
To the point.
Lin Fan had even begun contemplating something eerie.
Should he keep going, would winning her over completely be inevitable?
Dwelling on the idea made him shiver internally.
Absolutely not.
He was merely amusing himself with some harmless banter.
After all, he was still just a kid!
