Accidentally invincible!-Chapter 62 - 0: Finally Able to Start Chopping
Chapter 62: Chapter 062: Finally Able to Start Chopping
Banquet Hall.
Xiang Wu stormed in from outside, angrily saying, "Second Master, why bother giving them face? They’re spouting lies to slander our Serpent Gang. This is just an excuse to become our enemies."
The Second Master looked at the gourmet dishes on the table and said regretfully, "Such a pity, this whole table of delicacies. Let’s sit and eat. Good chefs are hard to come by; it cost a fortune to bring this retired master chef out of hiding."
"Come, why are you all just standing there? Eat."
The seven Hall Masters, each harboring their own thoughts, hesitantly sat down, none daring to touch their chopsticks for a moment.
One of the Hall Masters, holding his tongue for a long while, finally said, "Second Master, that boy was just spouting nonsense. We can’t take it seriously."
The Second Master, calm as ever, raised his wine glass, his delicate fingers arching slightly, and said, "Don’t talk about that. Let’s eat first. This meal doesn’t come easy."
The Hall Masters exchanged glances before finally starting to eat.
Street.
Zhao Desheng patted Lin Fan’s shoulder, saying, "What you said earlier was truly impressive. If it were me, I probably wouldn’t have had the guts."
"Hahaha, guess that’s the audacity of the young and ignorant," Lin Fan responded self-deprecatingly.
If he didn’t have this level of skill, he would never have said those words.
When it’s time to be cautious, you absolutely have to be cautious.
And let’s not forget how vast the Serpent Gang’s power is. Offending them could mean dying without even knowing how it happened.
Wang Zhou said, "Tomorrow morning, just release the prisoners. The Serpent Gang has already offered peace, so there’s no need to push any further."
Lin Fan sighed, "Honestly, I really don’t want to let these guys go. Ideally, we’d execute them; at the very least, they should be locked away for life. But alas, we’ve already eaten that meal. I guess we’ve got no choice but to let them go."
"You’re dreaming. You think I haven’t thought of that? But some things just aren’t that simple," Wang Zhou said.
He had lived in Jiangdu City for most of his life. In the past, he couldn’t stand the Serpent Gang’s antics and had always wanted to wipe them out. But some things just don’t go the way you hope.
You need the power to make it happen.
"Ah, what a shame. Tonight, I’ll spend the night in the dungeon. Just handing them over like this—it’s really hard to swallow," Lin Fan said.
Wang Zhou added, "Just don’t overdo it."
"Relax. I know what I’m doing," Lin Fan replied.
Serpent Gang Headquarters.
Inside the study.
The Second Master sat on an exquisitely crafted wooden chair, using his pinky to scoop out some white salve, which he gently rubbed onto the back of his hand. "Xiao Wu, you know I’m usually a laid-back person and rarely meddle in the gang’s affairs. Tell me, how exactly does the Serpent Gang conduct its business?"
Xiang Wu, usually a commanding and domineering figure, resembled a meek little chick in the presence of the Second Master. "Second Master, we’ve always followed the rules. We really haven’t broken any of them."
"Oh, please. You little brats. You think that just because I, Second Master, spend my time playing with soft things, you can treat me like a gullible old lady?" After applying the salve, the Second Master stood and moved closer to Xiang Wu.
Xiang Wu lowered his head, sweat forming on his brow as his eyes darted nervously. "Second Master, I’m telling the truth."
"Bullshit!" the Second Master roared in fury. "You’re telling me the truth? You think the government just has nothing better to do but target our Serpent Gang? You little fools?"
"Jiangdu City might be small, but I, the Second Master, have seen the world. There are Serpent Gangs in other cities too, but I’ve never seen a government so bored that it pokes around just to mess with us."
The roar left Xiang Wu trembling, utterly terrified.
Why, out of all the Hall Masters, did they have to pick on him?
If he’d known this would happen, he wouldn’t have jumped up and drawn attention to himself back then. What was he thinking?
"Second Master, I..." Xiang Wu stammered, unsure what to say, when suddenly he felt a cold sensation on the back of his neck.
The Second Master’s fingernail glided lightly over the nape of his neck. In a soft voice, he said, "Xiao Wu, Second Master hopes you’re not lying. Otherwise, I have ways to make you talk. The process, though, might not be very pleasant."
Thud!
Xiang Wu collapsed to his knees, nearly in tears. "Second Master, I’ll speak! I’ll tell you everything."
As Xiang Wu confessed to certain matters,
the originally impassive face of the Second Master darkened bit by bit.
The night was silent.
The Boss’s residence.
A shadow flitted like a specter into the residence.
"Just what is the Boss thinking, letting our members do this kind of thing?" the Second Master said angrily, so furious that a tuft of his hair seemed to jump with agitation.
He had come to get answers, to demand why such things were allowed.
Did the Boss really think that just because this was a remote region, the rules of the Serpent Gang could be ignored?
The Second Master pushed open the door and barged in, but as he was about to ask his question, he was stunned by what he saw. He exclaimed in shock, "A demon!"
The Boss was in the middle of a conversation with a demon that had not yet completed its transformation. Their conversation was written on paper, in a primitive manner.
Both the Boss and the demon were startled by the Second Master’s sudden intrusion.
"What are you doing here?" the Boss asked incredulously. He hadn’t even noticed the Second Master’s approach.
The Second Master took a small step back, saying, "What are you doing? Collaborating with demons is a clear violation of Serpent Gang rules! You’re courting death!"
The Boss exchanged a glance with the demon, and then murderous intent surged.
"Kill him."
The Second Master of the Serpent Gang in Jiangdu City had been demoted from another city. With no hope for advancement, he lived a leisurely life but had always adhered to the gang’s rules.
After learning the truth from Xiang Wu,
he understood that the government had done no wrong. In fact, they had every reason to arrest them.
Dungeon.
"Tomorrow, you’ll all be released. I’m honestly quite reluctant. So tonight, I’ve decided to stay here and have a candlelit chat, talk about life, and maybe educate you about the law," Lin Fan said.
The Third Master’s mouth was stuffed with cloth, preventing him from speaking. But judging by his violent struggling, it was clear he was thoroughly enraged.
"Boss, are we really letting them go tomorrow?" Bao Liu asked.
Lin Fan replied, "Yes, tomorrow morning they’ll be released. So tonight is our only chance. Bring some clubs over and give them a good beating. If they walk out of here unscathed, what will people think of us government officials?"
"Don’t ask for too much—just beat the crap out of them, literally," Lin Fan said with a smirk.
Zhu Hou couldn’t stand it anymore and said, "You dare..."
Ji Zhen panicked. A refined man like him wouldn’t be able to lift his head for the rest of his life if something like this happened.
Lin Fan ignored them and waved his hand for Bao Liu and the others to get moving.
Soon,
the dungeon echoed with screams of misery.
At first, Lin Fan watched with great interest. But as the screams continued, he unexpectedly found the sound soothing, like a lullaby. His eyelids drooped, and he began to doze off.
Suddenly,
a panicked government official ran in, shouting as he came, "Sir, something terrible happened! Lord Wang and the others are fighting with demons and the Serpent Gang Boss in the city!"
Lin Fan, who had just fallen asleep, snapped his eyes open.
He didn’t know what had happened.
But none of that mattered.
All he knew was that this was his chance to fight, to kill them if possible. Wounding? Not an option.
"You all stay here. I’ll go."
Before his voice had even faded,
Lin Fan grabbed his blade and vanished from the dungeon in a blur.
His speed was incredible,
as if he had taken some sort of stimulant.
Excitement surged through him.
