After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World-Chapter 1305: Protections

Their group had been waiting for the war to reach its peak. They expected that, by this time, there would already be plenty of breaches in the interior walls.

However, even after so long, there were still guards making rounds everywhere (as if they were not needed along the walls), and therefore making it difficult to make a move.

They wanted to use the mirage technique again, but it was surprisingly mana-consuming, so they opted not to do so in the end.

They needed as much mana as they could save. What if they ran out in the middle of the street, exposing themselves needlessly?!

Anyway, Alterra was even stronger than they thought and even after all their preparations, it was still giving them so much trouble.

At some point, people got too impatient.

"Go help the others out. They're obviously held back outside. I'll look deeper at the interior," Futch said, looking at Damco. "I have been studying the guards' movements and there aren't too many of them around since most were at the walls. I can time it well."

Damco rolled his eyes. "You do go help Pol." frёewebηovel.cѳm

"We both know who has better leadership skills here."

"Me, right?"

The two men glared at each other. Although the stewardship was for their boss, his right-hand man was still needed right?!

They had lived in Alterra earlier than others before getting kicked out. Among the elite attackers in this batch, they knew it best and had experienced a lot of its goodness.

Who wouldn't want it?!

Seeing their idiocy, Feller slapped his hand on the table. "SHUT UP!"

Feller was the mission's most powerful force in this war, at least in the homegrown side. He was also one of the more respected ones, which was how he could keep two other elementalists so obedient under his command.

Unlike Vara, who was part of a mercenary team that was just in partnership with Basset Town, Feller had been one of the loyalist guards directly under Bentro.

The two of them had been in conflict plenty of times back in Basset and, in Alterra, they retained that rivalry. It was no surprise then, that Vara had his own plans and Feller had his own, each side wanting the biggest piece of the pie.

He was one of the Lord's greatest guards in this generation—which was why he and Pol didn't mix well with the previous generation guards like Killic—and the Lord told him he'd want him to get the Token more than anyone else.

His right-hand man, Pol, was in charge of a bigger team coming in from the array. He was supposed to create the biggest distraction and chaos in this area specifically.

This was an instruction he sent via aether letter and the last time he heard from him, he was going to use that bastard Killic to open up a path. So far, there had been no news.

This made Feller extremely hot-headed and impatient. He glared at the idiots in front of him, making them flinch a bit, let alone the other 'tourists' there with lower levels.

"Do you think you'd be able to get there alone? Tens of thousands of our people are still being blocked, unable to get past the walls. What makes you think you can run in the interior without getting hunted?

Not to mention, according to our investigation, they knew that some Elders' family had been attacked during a previous war. They didn't know the details but they it was certain the guards would be stronger.

"However, it is correct that we have to make a move soon."

They didn't know if it was a good time, but delaying it for so long could mean they could lose the war before they could do anything! There was no choice but to move now!

More importantly: What if Vara found the Lord first!?

He gritted his teeth. There was no way he'd allow that!

At this time, Althea was in a protected area right outside the main bunkers, where their families were. Elders who did not have much use outside in a war, such as Gru and Rosalind, were also here. Even the pregnant Snow was forced to stay underground, and Fufi practically begged her to stay put.

On the other hand, Garan was guarding the walls, Volohov was in the hospital with several guards, and Mathilda—personally guarded by Drake and a few others— was in the Guard Station.

Mathilda knew her part in this territory and a lot of the most critical jobs were during the wars. How could she hide away, especially when both of her children were fighting outside?

Anyway, the Guard Station had a large number of guards and an arsenal of weapons and equipment, so this was still one of the safer places in the territory.

Of course, each of the Elders was equipped with several protection charms, not including some of the better defense equipment they could make and buy from aborigines.

As for Althea and Ansel, they guarded the bunkers.

The entrance to the bunker itself was further fortified Level 5 walls and dense sentries. Althea and Ansel, as well as the guard team assigned there, guarded in front of it.

It was Jake's team assigned to guard the bunkers this time. His team was comprised of a few tens of people above level 15. Fufi was also there, sitting in front of Althea, much like a proper guard dog.

As for the powerhouses, the one assigned there was Gaia. Oslo, who had assigned himself in the area after handling some known breaches nearby, was also there.

That said, this meant that most of the Elders were in and near the bunkers, and the area would definitely be targeted. However, at least this way, even if they were inviting more enemies, they could focus their forces more. It would also be easier to find the people hiding away.

Speaking of guards, Garan had badly wanted to assign himself as a guard in the area, but they knew he was needed more elsewhere.

More than his level—which was lower than many of their guests—it was his presence as the highest military personnel in the territory that was so important.

He was there to command the troops, not guard his wife at the back of the line.

However, before leaving for the position, he did leave something for Althea.

And it was quite impressive.

At this time, a thin dome of ice shimmered around the walls and the bunker entrance, encasing the immediate area and the people guarding it.

This cold shell was created and maintained by Garan using a new skill called [Frozen Aegis].

This skill allowed him to create a protective dome that was not only useful—to a degree—against enemies below level 30, but it would also send him an alert if it was damaged in any way.

And right on cue—

BANG!

This wall began to shake.

Bang! Bang!

Bang!

The wall was pounded over and over from different directions. In some areas, they could see some fissures starting to form.

Immediately, everyone assumed attacking positions, ready to attack the newcomers as soon as they appeared.

"They're here!"
