An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me-Chapter 61: The start of the exam part 1
Chapter 61: The start of the exam part 1
Mia, Sophia and Liana stared at Riven, shocked by his sudden outburst. Riven, on the other hand, was simply pissed. He could have taken them talking to him harshly, but them starting to look down on him—he couldn’t take that.
Mia stepped forward, standing a few inches away from him, her cold, above-it-all gaze locked with his.
"You believe you can speak to us because our grandfathers engaged us? Have you forgotten that you are speaking to higher nobility? Or should I help you remember?" she asked, rubbing the base of her sword.
Riven glanced at her hand and looked up again. "I seriously don’t care. I would speak the same even if I had no ties to you, because I don’t like people in my face.
I never spoke about our engagement, and I didn’t approach either of you, so why don’t you three leave me alone for now? I want to focus," Riven said.
’I won’t allow any of you to see any sense of interest from me. That’s not how you play a game like this,’ Riven thought to himself.
"Since you three are repulsed by the fact that I am engaged to you, let’s just not talk about it and act like we don’t know each other even in the slightest.
You can go back to whatever it is that you were all doing, and I’ll go back to whatever I was doing," Riven said.
"Fine. From now henceforth, you don’t know us, and we do not know you. Do not let our paths cross," Liana said. She turned without saying anything more and left.
Sophia clicked her tongue, her disgusted expression still there on her face. It’s like she saw him as some sort of trash.
Mia stared at him the longest, and then she turned to leave. "Pathetic," she said as she walked away.
As soon as they left, Riven heaved a deep sigh of relief. He looked around and saw that some nobles were already gossiping about the fact that the three Duke daughters came to talk to him.
He didn’t bother with them though. He kept to himself and waited for noon. Time passed quickly as everyone was there, and a few minutes before noon came, a convoy of carriages arrived—beautiful gold and white carriages with the insignia of the kingdom on them.
Everyone immediately turned to pay attention to which royalty had come to the exams. The door of the center carriage was opened by a knight, and two people came down.
The first: Robert Vermilion, the fourth son of the king, and his twin sister, Chloe Vermilion. The both of them stepped out and immediately their presence stole the limelight, their crimson red hair standing out beautifully.
They both were very good-looking, with eyes that matched their hair. Robert wore a fitting armor with the crest of the kingdom on it, and his sister Chloe had on mage’s robes and a staff in hand.
’The Royal siblings, huh? These were the second most well-known twins after the elves. Though they weren’t as iconic a duo as the elves, their power was still immense,’ Riven recalled.
He sat down watching them like every other person, until the door of the last carriage swung open, and there he was.
The Lord of stealing people’s love interests, the harem master himself, the iconic heroic shitbag, the very essence of greed—unsatisfied no matter the amount of women that he had.
Standing there in his armor, sword to the side, his golden blonde hair shined under the light of the sun. He was none other than the protagonist, the hero, Lance Vanceloth.
But something wasn’t right with the way that he came out this time. He came with the Royal Family. In the original story, Lance had just been blessed by the goddess and was training his power for the exams and more.
He had yet to meet with the king or his family and actually make serious connections with them. It was not until the academy that he began staying in the limelight every time.
’The story is changing more than I expected. Is it because of me? Could it be that the fact I am going to the academy is changing so much?’ Riven wondered.
Even if the story was changing, he didn’t want it to deviate entirely. He didn’t want to lose his edge and lose control of the whole thing.
After their arrival, it was already noon, and the exams were set to start. Right in front of the dungeon gates, a magical circle appeared, its blue glow shining bright through all its intricate patterns.
The light increased until it became blinding, and when it finally went down, four people stood there.
"A teleportation circle?" The question that everyone asked immediately. They were in awe by it instantly, and began talking about it, creating a small buzz.
The four people that had come were instructors—one lady and three men. Their hands wore black robes, with the crest of the academy on the chest and the back: a Vermilion bird standing on an open book.
One of the instructors stepped forward to speak. He had shiny, neck-length black hair and sharp eyes.
"Good day, candidates. Today all of you will be participating in the first stage of the Royal Academy exams. It goes without saying that this is the most prestigious exam in Vermilion." His voice managed to reach everyone loudly, possibly a sound device or something.
"Now without further ado, let me explain to you the exam. As of yesterday, there have been ten confirmed floors in this dungeon, but only five are accessible to you.
Your task in this exam is really simple: you are to gather crystals from the monsters. It is a race-like format, where those that gather more will be moving on to the next round held at the academy itself.
In this round, you have a full twenty-four hours to gather as much as you can from any of the five floors in order to get points," he said as he pulled out a black strip with engravings on it.
"This strip will be your storage unit, and also tell you the time."frёewebnoѵēl.com
