Chapter 404 - 360: Absurd offer Knocking
10 November 1992
Following the explosive success of ZAGE's first-ever official event, the company's name soared across Japan. The coverage aired nationwide on TV Tokyo, and while it wasn't broadcast live, it was given prime-time treatment in a dedicated special. The broadcast included event highlights, performances, fan interviews, and exclusive behind-the-scenes clips, making it feel as close to the real thing as possible for those who couldn't attend.
Still, not everyone was satisfied.
"Damn, why is it only in Tokyo? I live in Okinawa!"
"Ugh, it looked so fun. I wish I could've gone!"
Fans from across Japan voiced their disappointment. They hope they are able to attend the events too like the fans from tokyo!.
Despite the distance, the broadcast Events helped cement ZAGE's reputation as not just a game company, but a cultural force. And in ZAGE's main office in Tokyo, the momentum had already shifted toward preparing the highly anticipated November release.
Zaboru, tucked away in his private workshop, was back at it. The walls were lined with sketches, dev kits, console mockups, and figurine prototypes. Everything was moving on schedule.
He kept working diligently on the four titles slated for ZAGE's November release. For the ZEPS console, the upcoming games were Lunar Knight and Rollerdance, both offering distinct experiences: Lunar Knight is his Father Zanichi personal games and the other a quirky action brawler on wheels. Meanwhile, for the ZGB handheld, he focused on The Lion King: The Mighty Simba Adventure and Mr. Driller, ensuring both gameplay depth and accessibility for all ages players.
Then came a knock.
"Boss," Yumi said, entering with her usual clipboard and calm presence. "There's a visitor. The CEO of the Sujin Group is here. His name is Seishiro Sujin. He'd like to speak with you."
Zaboru frowned slightly. "Sujin Group? Aren't they a pharmaceutical company? What would they want with me?" he muttered, mostly to himself. Then he nodded. "Alright. Let him wait in my office. I'll be there shortly."
The Su-Jin Group is widely recognized as a leading pharmaceutical company, especially renowned in the beauty and skincare sector. Their products are premium-priced, yet beloved by many top actresses and entertainers for their quality. Over the years, Su-Jin has grown into one of the most influential and wealthy corporations in the industry.
A few minutes later, Zaboru stepped into his office, where Seishiro Sujin was already seated, sipping politely from the tea that had been prepared. Sujin was a middle-aged man with a refined air. His tailored suit, neat mustache, and shoulder-length black hair gave him the image of a charismatic executive who was used to getting his way.
Zaboru extended his hand with a polite smile. "Sujin-san. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Likewise, Ren-san," Seishiro said smoothly, shaking his hand.
After the formalities, both men took their seats.
"So," Zaboru began bluntly, "a pharmaceutical group reaching out to a gaming company is... unexpected. What can I help you with?"
Sujin gave a short, confident laugh. "Straight to the point. I like that. I've been watching ZAGE for some time now, and frankly, I think it has unparalleled potential. In my view, ZAGE isn't just a strong brand now—it's going to become a cornerstone of the entertainment industry in Japan and beyond."
Sujin then continued, "Looking ahead, there are many opportunities for ZAGE to collaborate with well-known celebrities in advertising campaigns. I believe leveraging star power to promote ZAGE products could be a game-changer and bring massive market appeal."
Zaboru leaned back, studying him. "That might be true. But what's your point?"
Sujin placed his teacup down. "I want to invest. I know ZAGE has remained a private company, turning down venture capital and outside influence. But I believe I can offer something unique, something you can`t refuse Ren-san."
Zaboru raised an eyebrow. "Go on."
"In exchange for allowing Sujin Group to invest in ZAGE, I would like to arrange... a personal union, you might say. I have two daughters, Hana and Mina Sujin. You may know them. They're quite famous in the music and film industries. Idols. Beautiful, talented, and very interested in you." Seishiro said with smile.
Zaboru blinked. "Are you saying..."
Sujin smiled with a nod. "Yes. I'm offering you the opportunity to marry both of them. As for their consent, rest assured—I didn't coerce them. They're your devoted fans and have expressed genuine interest in you. They're even open to the idea of sharing. Consider it a mutually beneficial partnership—both in business and in personal life." Seishiro grinned inwardly, confident that no young man could resist the charm of not one, but two beautiful idols. In his mind, the fact that his daughters were already fans of Zaboru made the proposal all the more reasonable—a perfect, irresistible offer.
The room fell silent.
Zaboru stared at him. "Is that your official offer, Sujin-san?"
"It is."
Zaboru sighed and stood. "Then let me be clear. I'm not interested."
Sujin looked stunned. "Surely you understand—"
"What do you take me for?" Zaboru interrupted. "Some dirty old man? I have a girlfriend. And even if I didn't, I wouldn't accept something so transactional. This meeting is over."
There was a heavy pause. Sujin adjusted his jacket, his confidence rattled.
"Apologies, Ren-san. I meant no offense."
"None taken. But we're done here."
With a stiff nod, Sujin departed.
Zaboru then back to his workshop and in his workshop, Zaboru sat at his desk, muttering, "What kind of person offers their daughters like business deals..."
"Maybe someone who knows you're charming, rich, and ridiculously successful?"
Zaboru turned. Standing in the doorway with a mischievous grin was Ayumi.
"Ayumi! Since when were you here?"
"Just got in. Caught the end of your little business proposal." She crossed her arms, amused. "So you turned down a pair of cute idol sisters, huh? Not bad, Zabo."
Zaboru sighed. "How do you even know that, anyway?" Ayumi always seemed to know things she shouldn't. Sometimes, Zaboru seriously wondered if she had some kind of special ability too—just like him.
"Well, Yumi-sensei called me the moment she saw their names on the visitor list," Ayumi said with a giggle. "She knows how to keep me in the loop. Women's intuition, I guess?"
Zaboru smirked. "Well, I hope you're not jealous."

Ayumi walked over and hugged him from behind. "Nah. I already won the Zaboru Renkonan lottery."
He chuckled, then turned back to his workstation. "Alright, enough drama. Back to work. November release won't finish itself."
As Ayumi watched him, her smile softened. Even in the midst of fame, proposals, and industry chaos, Zaboru remained the same guy she fell for—focused, sincere, and effortlessly resistant to the kind of temptations that would derail most people. To him, even the idea of marrying two famous idols wasn't tempting. For Ayumi, that kind of integrity made her love him all the more.
