ATG: My genius is almost frightening!-Chapter 229 - 228: Lets Go To My Room
Chapter 229 - 228: Lets Go To My Room
The expression on his unparalleled, handsome face was heartbreaking. Any woman, no matter how cold they are, would have been moved by such a sight, how much more so for Luo Guxie, who was completely enamored with him? Seeing him like this made her heart tighten, as though a hand were gripping it painfully.
Guilt gnawed at her again, and she could feel it eating away at her very soul. She had made her beloved Yang'er suffer once more, all because of her own foolishness and selfishness.
She knew exactly how it felt to have your heart torn apart by love; she had lived through it, endured it for over a thousand years.
"Yang'er..." She wanted to hold him in her arms, but as her hand reached out, it froze mid-air, as if she didn't dare to touch him.
From the corner of his eye, Yun Wuji watched her reaction. As expected, his acting skills were his true forte. Cultivation and other bullshit can only came second. Compared to using his strength to 'borrow' resources, his acting had earned him countless times more influence and advantages.
Yun Wuji stretched out his hand and took hers, his red eyes filled with endless pain and regret. His voice was hoarse as he spoke, "I knew I shouldn't have gotten attached. I tried to build a good relationship with Luo Changsheng for your sake, even though I knew he hated me and always tried to get rid of me."
"..." Luo Guxie listened to his words, gripping his hand tightly as if fearing that if she let go, she would lose him forever. The more she listened, the more guilt and sadness weighed on her heart. She had thought that her son and Yang'er were getting along well after their initial clash, but it was only after what happened that day that she realized how foolish her thoughts had been.
Her son was more like his grandfather than he was like her. He was narrow-minded and looked down on anyone beneath him. The mere thought that he could get along with Yang'er, someone who had suddenly appeared, taking the resources and attention of his master, was nothing but a huge joke.
"I even thought about telling you the truth about my multiple bodies, but time was short. Before I could, Qianye Ying'er appeared." He let go of her hand, but before he could fully retract it, she gripped it tightly. He shook his head, his hoarse voice softening. "At that moment, I thought of something. Instead of telling you the truth, I decided to make you suffer. I wanted to see if you truly felt the same way."
"I wanted to know if it was just my wishful thinking, or if, somehow, a miracle could happen. I wanted to see if I could finally become your lover, not as a substitute for some dead guy, but as me, Yun Wuji!" His red eyes fixed on her with intensity, his voice hardening like steel.
"Fuck! This guy's acting skills have gotten better," the Evil Infant, who was watching the scene unfold from the Sky Poison Realm, muttered in astonishment as she ate her popcorn. "How can someone twist the truth like this?!"
What Yun Wuji was doing was textbook manipulation, mixing truth with lies. Yes, he had orchestrated this to create mental chaos for Luo Guxie, to slowly shift her feelings from her deceased lover to him, and finally force her to choose between him and Ning Danqing.
But the reason he did this wasn't because he was in love with her. It was more because he felt possessive toward her and wanted to give her a chance. If she truly let go of Ning Danqing and gave her heart completely to him, then instead of discarding her after using her, he would make a place for her in his 'broad' heart.
Sensing the moment was right, Yun Wuji forcefully withdrew his hand from hers and spoke in a calm voice, as if, after expressing his complex emotions, he had finally found some peace. "I know what I did is unforgivable, and you have every right to hate me. So from now on, let's part ways and forget everything." He gave her one final, deep look before turning and walking away.
Luo Guxie's mind went blank as she stared at Yun Wuji. Despite the anger she felt from him manipulating her, making her endure the darkest and most desperate weeks of her life, when she heard him confess his true emotions, all that anger melted away, replaced by waves of happiness and extreme joy. But then, why did he suddenly want to break apart from her?
Did he just say he wanted her to forget him and leave?
Impossible!
What kind of nonsense was that?
"Stop!" Luo Guxie's trembling voice cut through the air as her figure blurred, appearing directly in front of him. Before he could speak, she threw her arms around him in a desperate embrace. "Please don't go!"
Her entire body shook violently, voice quivering with both fear and desperate hope. "You're right, we should forget everything that happened between us."
A tear streaked down her face as she continued, "This was my fault... I never should have selfishly used you as a replacement. Our beginning was poisoned from the start."
Then slowly, hesitantly, she raised both hands to cradle his face, thumbs brushing his cheeks as she gazed into his dark eyes. "So... why don't we start over completely?"
Though Yun Wuji's actions toward her were undeniably wrong on many levels, she couldn't, and didn't want to, deny that her behavior had been just as terrible. No man, no human being, would ever accept being treated as a mere replacement for another!
She'd essentially used him as an emotional crutch, a tool to vent her pain and loneliness.
Since they'd both screwed up in their own ways... why not wipe the slate clean? Start over from zero?
Though now her mind was foggy and she couldn't think straight, and maybe once she calmed down, she'd spot the holes in Yun Wuji's excuses. But she wouldn't act on it. No. She wouldn't allow herself to entertain that thought.
She wouldn't think about it at all!
Because she didn't want to think or believe in that direction. She wanted to keep living with him. Even if he were lying to her, she would be happy to live in his lies.
It was similar to how Qianye Ying'er had many times suspected her father, but each time those doubts arose, she buried them deep down because she didn't want to destroy her perfect life. She didn't want to face the truth. It wasn't until she was confronted with the cold, harsh reality that she accepted it.
Men fall in love with looks; that's why women wear makeup. Women fall in love with words; that's why men lie.
Yun Wuji's eyes lit up, a mix of surprise and disbelief crossing his face. He opened his mouth, his voice trembling as he asked, "Is... it... true? Did... did you really mean it?"
'Holy shit, did he just gaslight her into believing everything was her fault?!' The Evil Infant paused mid-popcorn crunch, utterly stunned by the audacity.
"F... F... food," You'er glanced at Hei Xiaolian eating, stretching out her tiny palm toward her as she spoke softly. Although she couldn't speak clearly yet, she could express some emotions and say a few simple words.
"Ah, you want to eat?" Hei Xiaolian looked down at the little girl, handing her a piece of chocolate before returning her attention to the drama unfolding outside.
"Yes, I mean it! We can forget everything from the past and start anew. As long as I can be with you, I can give up everything!" Luo Guxie nodded repeatedly, her tears, which had been held back earlier, now spilling over from her movements.
"You can give up even Ning Danqing?" Yun Wuji's gaze locked on hers, his tone a mix of disbelief and a glimmer of hope.
"Danqing... he... he's been gone for a long time," Luo Guxie froze for a moment before speaking absentmindedly. Then, a gentle smile bloomed on her face, and a soft look appeared in her eyes as she added, "What remains of him is just a shadow, and that shadow has already been replaced by someone else."
"..."
Yun Wuji stood still, his body stiff as he processed her words. His eyes trembled, as if unable to believe what he had just heard. After a long moment, he slowly, hesitantly raised his arms and cupped her face, mirroring her earlier gesture. "Is... is it true?"
"Hmm," Luo Guxie smiled softly and nodded.
Yun Wuji lowered his head, his lips meeting hers in a kiss. The moment their lips touched, their tongues began to intertwine.
She swirled her tongue inside his mouth, coiling around his once they met, sucking on it like it was the sweetest candy.
Tilting her head slightly to avoid his nose, she pressed her entire body against his. Her hands, which had been cradling his face, slid behind his back, pulling him closer as if she wanted to fuse with him.
The kiss was so overwhelming, so electric, that her heart hammered wildly against her ribs, threatening to burst. Her head became dizzy, she'd kissed a man before, even enjoyed it, but this? This was like comparing a candle to the sun!
She'd never imagined anything could make her feel this mind-numbingly good! Her fingers dug into him desperately as their tongues warred, her body grinding against his in a frantic, shameless rhythm.
Luo Guxie wished this moment would never end, that it could stretch into eternity! In that instant, she felt that all the pain, heartache, and suffering she'd endured for nearly a thousand years had been worth it!
For the first time in her life, Luo Guxie silently thanked the heavens for sending her Fei Yang!
If he hadn't dropped from the sky like a divine gift, she'd still be trapped in a dull, gray world, her only purpose left to avenge Danqing and raise her son.
The kiss stretched on for what felt like an eternity. Eventually, Yun Wuji gently pulled back, breaking their kiss. As he did, a long, glistening thread of saliva stretched between their lips. His eyes glowed with softness, brimming with affection and love. He smiled and said, "Let's go to my room."
"Mmm," Luo Guxie agreed breathlessly, clinging to his neck.
