Awakening the Daily Intelligence System-Chapter 815 - 409, Police Academy Badge
Chapter 815: 409, Police Academy Badge
Then, Robert Johnson lifted his head, looked at Mark Wilson, and said, “Let’s go! Take me to the scene right away. By the way, how’s the situation on Captain Linder’s side?”
“Oh, I haven’t located exactly where Alicia Linder is yet, but she’s definitely inside this abandoned factory. I’ve already talked to the guys in the detective team, and they’re currently searching with all their might.” Mark Wilson answered the group leader’s question while leading the way.
In no time, the two arrived at the room Jack had been in before. This room was located on the second floor of the abandoned factory, in the far right corner, seemingly engulfed entirely by darkness, hidden at the end.
At this moment, a perimeter had been set up outside the room, with three staff members inside, taking pictures from every angle incessantly. In the center of the room, there was a lone chair. Beside the chair, a neat circle was drawn on the ground with white lines. Inside the area defined by the white lines, there was a golden badge the size of a thumb nail, which slightly glimmered in the somewhat dim light around it.
Mark Wilson and Robert Johnson entered the room one after the other. Mark Wilson pointed to the golden badge on the ground and said, “Leader, this is it. When I rushed into the room and discovered the disappearance of the Dark Law Enforcer, I saw this badge next to the chair.”
Special investigation team leader Robert Johnson nodded after hearing Mark Wilson’s words and asked, “Does anyone here recognize this badge and knows which police academy it’s from?”
“Leader, there’s only one police academy in Los Angeles. Judging by the style of this pin, though it looks a bit different from what I wore back when I was in the academy, it should be a badge from the Los Angeles Police Academy.” An experienced old policeman, responsible for taking photographs in the room, quickly chimed in with an explanation when Robert Johnson asked.
“Los Angeles Police Academy, huh?” Robert Johnson repeated softly, nodded slightly, then stood up and walked towards the outside of the room.
Seeing the leader walk out, Mark Wilson hurriedly followed and asked, “Old Robert, what do we plan to do next? How about I take people to the Los Angeles Police Academy tomorrow, have a good talk with their principal, and then investigate each current student and graduate one by one. I just can’t believe we won’t find the Dark Law Enforcer!”
Upon hearing this, Robert Johnson gave Mark Wilson a glare and admonished, “I’ve heard you’re quite skilled at catching criminals in the Northwest region, but when it comes to handling cases, you act rashly. I didn’t fully believe it before, but now it seems that even those comments were polite. Think it over properly; if you march into the police academy with great fanfare for an investigation, wouldn’t the Dark Law Enforcer notice? If he goes into hiding, what would we do next?”

When past incidents were mentioned, Mark Wilson pursed his lips, showing a slight defiant expression, and said, “Hey old Robert, why are you still criticizing me? If you had let me in to catch the person just now, I would’ve subdued that guy already. It wouldn’t have been as passive as it is now.”
Robert Johnson and Mark Wilson had been old buddies for many years, so he wasn’t angry at Mark Wilson’s somewhat complaining tone. Instead, he pointed at Mark Wilson with a smile and jokingly scolded, “You rascal, now you’re blaming it on me. I didn’t let you recklessly go in at that time for your own good. We knew nothing about whether the criminal had weapons, had accomplices, or set dangerous traps in the room. If you had barged in blindly, what would I tell your wife if anything happened to you?”
However, just at this moment, the experienced old policeman who had replied to Robert Johnson earlier came running out hastily, shouting to the two of them, “Leader, Little Mark, we found a secret passage in the room, come over and take a look.”
“A secret passage?” The two were taken aback upon hearing this word, instantly understanding why the Dark Law Enforcer had suddenly vanished without a trace.
The two quickly followed the old policeman back into the room. In front of them, on the wall facing the door, where the surface had been smooth, there was now a square opening taller than a person. Inside the opening was pitch black, making it impossible to discern what was inside, as if it was a mysterious entrance to an unknown world.
The three entered the room, and upon seeing the opening, the old policeman began explaining, “When we were photographing the scene, my apprentice accidentally hit a nail on the wall, and surprisingly the nail went into the wall. Immediately after, this opening appeared.”
Robert Johnson nodded, turned to Mark Wilson, and asked, “Did you notice anything unusual outside at that time?”
“No, the room was too dark at the time. He vanished in the blink of an eye. By the time I rushed in, everything looked normal in the room, with nothing unusual.” Mark Wilson frowned, trying hard to recall for a moment, then shook his head and said.
“Let’s go! Check it out inside!” After saying this, special investigation team leader Robert Johnson picked up a flashlight and was the first to squeeze through the opening in the wall, with Mark Wilson closely following behind.
