Awakening with two legendary Summons-Chapter 52: Martial arts that surpass the Summoners battle class
Chapter 52: Martial arts that surpass the Summoners battle class
The strange beast that could speak, the Minotaur with an above-average attack pattern... None of this felt like a coincidence.
’Something must be happening here,’ Kairos thought, but for some reason, Carlos’ words began to echo in his mind—words that had haunted him since he first stepped into this strange world.
Why had the military lied about this being Earth?
Kairos remembered the old sci-fi movies he watched when he was younger. In those stories, the military always had a secret—some hidden experiment they conducted in the name of progress or power. They’d capture creatures, test unknown weapons, and create monsters from the things they didn’t understand. If any of that was even remotely true, then...
’Are they... weaponizing these beasts?’
Because what other reason could there possibly be for a military base to exist in a place like this? Why the secrecy? Why the danger?
It made a chilling kind of sense.
’Does that mean they’re testing our abilities? Are they using us as benchmarks—to measure how strong their creations are? Are we just test subjects being pitted against monsters they made themselves?’
His thoughts were unraveling fast, connecting thread after thread into a terrifying possibility. He didn’t know if it was the truth or just paranoia, but every part of him screamed that he was right.
Still, he needed confirmation.
"Are you guys lab rats?" Kairos asked coldly.
There was no answer. Only silence.
Then a high-pitched shrill cut through the air—the Spider’s only response.
"So you were created," Kairos said, narrowing his eyes. "No mutation or geographical error could teach a creature English that well."
"I see... You figured this much out," a voice finally replied. Smooth, deliberate. Its words oozed with venomous intent. "Now I can’t allow you to live."
The Spider’s voice faded, and in an instant, it vanished—not from sight through blood manipulation, but through sheer speed.
Kairos didn’t flinch.
"Shadow Wolf," he called out calmly, his voice firm. "Hold down the Spider for as long as you can. I’ll deal with the Minotaur. I know you can’t win on your own... but stall it."
The wolf growled in understanding, eyes glowing with determination.
Kairos bent over his knees, every muscle coiled like a spring. Then he burst forward at high speed, his eyes locked on the charging Minotaur ahead.
Just as he moved, he heard it—the unmistakable sound of footsteps tearing into the soil behind him. It was the Spider. It had anticipated his movement and was closing in fast.
Reacting instantly, Kairos activated his shadow skill. His form melted into darkness, disappearing before the Spider’s deadly attack could land. The creature’s leg slammed into the earth, causing a violent tremor as it missed its mark.
From the shadow of a nearby tree, Kairos reformed seamlessly, continuing his dash without missing a beat.
Meanwhile, the Shadow Wolf had located the blood marks on the Spider—its only way to track the otherwise invisible foe. It didn’t bother with close combat. Instead, it swiped its tail, sending a barrage of crescent-shaped shadow beams flying toward the beast.
The Spider reacted swiftly, its limbs moving with inhuman precision. Using several legs, it blocked each beam with eerie calm. Its senses were sharp—like a true spider—but still not quite on the level of Ashen’s summon.
Its edge was its invisibility.
Kairos neared the Minotaur but refused to underestimate it. ’If the Spider can talk... who knows how intelligent this one is?’
He needed to strike from behind. He couldn’t afford to use his shadow skill too much—they hadn’t even entered the caves yet, and he needed to conserve energy.
’In that case... I’ve been meaning to try this.’
As the Minotaur raised a massive fist, preparing to crush him, Kairos didn’t hesitate.
"Echo Walk!"
His body moved at blinding speed, far faster than he had ever achieved. He dodged the crushing blow and blurred past the beast, appearing behind it in a split second. The Minotaur’s fist smashed into the ground, shaking the trees nearby.
He had done it. He had mastered Sergeant Lloyd’s technique—at least to a usable degree. He’d studied from every textbook he could find in the Summoner’s Battle Class, trained in secret while others wasted their time.
It wasn’t perfect... but it worked.
Kairos poured his Integration Energy into his right gauntlet until it pulsed with wild power. His fingers tightened as the claws extended from the gauntlet, glowing faintly.
"Shadow Swipe!"
A colossal shadow crescent exploded from his claws, larger than any he’d ever produced. It struck the Minotaur’s neck with devastating force, slicing clean through.
The beast’s head hit the ground with a thunderous thud, its body collapsing beside it. The attack had worked.
But so had the toll.
Kairos’ gauntlet cracked along its outer shell, fragile and overused. Still, he didn’t complain. It had done what it was meant to do—and he could always repair it later.
More importantly... he had done it.
He had killed an Apex Beast.
Ding.
[You have successfully killed an Apex Beast.]
[Your Integration has improved.]
The notifications rang in his mind, but there was no time to celebrate.
He turned sharply toward the Shadow Wolf. His companion was still battling the Spider, blood staining its fur. It fought valiantly, but like Ashen’s summoned creature, this one had unnatural senses—ones that anticipated attacks before they happened.
Despite its superior assault skills, the Wolf was losing.
Kairos narrowed his eyes.
’I’ll use the Feral Sync Arts I developed from Lloyd’s techniques... my own version!’
His stance widened, his body grounded as he funneled all his Integration into his limbs.

Far from the battle, Rivet and his team crouched in the dense forest, trailing silently behind Kairos. They’d followed him this far, fueled by nothing more than jealousy and the hope of seeing him fail.
At first, Rivet told them to record everything. The plan was to catch Kairos making a fool of himself—falling, begging, bleeding. Something to upload. Something to humiliate him.
But now...
Now they were silent.
From the moment the fight started, Kairos’ movements had stunned them. His speed. His awareness. The way he detected the invisible Spider without a single visual cue. Rivet hadn’t even known the Spider was there until Kairos reacted.
Then came the shadow ability. The Echo Walk. The devastating swipe that ended the Minotaur in one clean stroke.
Rivet’s mouth went dry.
This wasn’t the Kairos he remembered.
Was this really the same guy he fought weeks ago? The same guy he mocked? Teased? Bullied?
Watching him now... Rivet wasn’t sure anymore.
The battle was far from over, but one thing was clear.
"Kairos Veyl... just who the hell are you?!"
