Back to the Past: The Rise of the False Heiress Marrying the True Tycoon-Chapter 1075: Made A Bit of Money
Jin Long was silent for a moment, his voice tinged with disbelief. “Gu Zi, do you really think Gong Xin will like the way I pursue her? I’m scared… What if I hold her hand and she doesn’t like it?”
Gu Zi let out a sigh. “Sometimes, what a woman says isn’t the whole truth, but her body language? That’s always honest. If she’s willing to accept your touch, you’re in the clear to make things official. But if she pulls away when you take her hand, well, then you’ve got your answer. If she’s not interested, then you might as well follow your family’s wishes and pursue the marriage alliance. It’s no big deal—when it’s not meant to be, just let go. There’s nothing to it.”
After she finished speaking, Gu Zi hung up the phone. This was something Jin Long had to figure out for himself. No matter how much she said, if he couldn’t make up his mind, it wouldn’t help.
As she turned, she locked eyes with the man standing behind her. He walked over, took her hand, and asked, “Gu Zi, you’re so straightforward with him—would you treat me the same way?”
Caught off guard, Gu Zi didn’t even notice when he had returned. He was holding her physical exam report, and it was clear he had already gone through it.
She quickly brushed off his question, “I was just advising Jin Long on how to pursue Gong Xin. You and I are already married, so that’s not relevant anymore. But since you’re back, there’s something I need to discuss with you.”
Su Shen looked at the report in his hands, then glanced up at her with a faint smile. “Is this about your going to university? Actually, I’ve got something to share too. I’ve made a bit of money recently.”
Gu Zi turned to look at him. As he spoke, he pulled out a new passbook and handed it to her.
Confused, she took it. He already gave her a generous allowance each month—money she could barely spend—and now he was giving her a passbook?
She thought the balance couldn’t be much, considering how casually he handed it over, but when she opened it and saw the number, her eyes widened. Thirty-five thousand!
She blinked in disbelief. Thirty-five thousand? That wasn’t just a small sum—this was huge!
He had said he earned some money, but this was no small feat.
She reflexively counted the zeros twice, just to make sure her eyes weren’t playing tricks on her. “I’ve been reading the papers, and it seems like so many people investing in real estate have been losing money. How did you manage to earn so much?”
Su Shen gave her a slight smirk. “Any investment comes with risks, but I got lucky. Plus, I’ve got some friends who really know the market, so I’ve made a nice profit.”
While his words were nonchalant, inside, he was thoroughly pleased. He loved the look of admiration in Gu Zi’s eyes. She liked money, and here he was, proving he could provide her with exactly that. He couldn’t think of anyone better suited to be with her.
Gu Zi’s thoughts were more complicated. She was already thinking of ways to capitalize on the information she had, but Su Shen was already one step ahead—he had acted on it, bringing the money home to her. He truly was a born businessman, with impeccable judgment and execution.
She looked up at him, surprised by his generosity. “You’re letting me manage all this money?”
Su Shen, unbothered, pulled her closer. “Remember how you said the real estate market in the capital had potential? You wanted me to invest there. Now that you’re planning to study there, this money can help you do what you need. I trust you with it. Also, I’ve invested in a few properties there—some old houses and a couple of courtyard houses. We might take a hit on those, so we’ll need to figure out how to minimize the loss. So, Gu Zi, I’ll go with you to the capital. I’ve saved one of the courtyard houses in a prime location for us to live in.”
The mention of the courtyard houses was like a gift in itself. Gu Zi’s heart skipped a beat. “What are you planning to do with the others?”
Su Shen’s tone remained calm as ever, but there was a spark of excitement in his eyes. “We’ll figure it out together. But this way, I’ll have a reason to be with you in the capital. Whether or not we handle the loss well, I’ve already decided—I’m going with you.”
Gu Zi could barely contain her surprise. A courtyard house—a traditional courtyard house! In the capital, no less!
She immediately asked, “So what’s your plan?”
