Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 279: More Truths Amongst The Lies
Chapter 279: More Truths Amongst The Lies
"They are protective of you," mused the man sitting across from me as Tank struggled under the pull of the house. I could see the need to shift and protect me in every line of his being, so I let him.
The second Tank was free, the human was gone, and the 250 lbs hellhound took his place. "Be good," I warned him, but all he did was sprint over to the couch where I was sitting. Jumping up on the seat beside me, Tank got comfortable with his face on my lap.
"I am theirs as much as they are mine," I replied, gently scratching Tank’s head. He seemed to relax under my attention, but no one in the room was actually buying it. "They will protect me to the bitter end, and I would do the same for them. As much as you feel like mine, too...."
"It’s different," smiled the man with a nod of his head. "And I should hope so. Fathers aren’t meant to have a romantic relationship with their daughters."
There was a whole lot of shit to unpack in that statement, but I froze. "Aren’t they?" I mused, my smile brittle as I looked at the man who had just claimed to be my father. I was really hoping that he was being facetious, but I had a really bad feeling about it.
The man’s face turned dark and stormy as the very foundation of the house seemed to shake as a response to his emotions. If possible, my men became even more hostile and Tank was growling low as he focused his attention on the threat.
"Now who wears their emotions on their sleeves?" I smirked at him, pulling out a lollypop and unwrapping it. Sticking it in my mouth, I waited for the man to calm down.
"Tell me that you were just looking for a reaction from me, and you weren’t implying what I thought you were," growled the man as his eyes went white.
I simply grinned at him as I kissed Tank on top of his head.
"How about we start at the beginning," suggested Luca, once again trying to take some type of control over the situation. "What is your name?"
"Names are such a fickle thing," purred the man as he took tight control of his emotions. Looking over at Luca, he smirked. "I’ve had many."
"What do you want me to call you?" I asked, cutting into the conversation.
"Dad would work perfectly, but if you aren’t comfortable with that idea, then you can call me Vael’Zirith. That was my first name."
I tried to sound out that name a few times before I simply gave up. "I’ll call you V," I stated. I wasn’t going to touch that other name with a ten foot pole, thank you very much.
Like I said, I owned my Daddy issues, and having a man who claimed me as his actual child was really fucking with my head.
"Vael’Zirith," mused Dante as he finally managed to step forward to stop next to Luca. "That’s an old name for The Forsaken Abyss, isn’t it?"
"You speak the old tongue?" asked V, sounding more than a little intrigued.
"Not enough for a conversation. I was created just when it was going starting to die," answered Dante.
"When was that?" grunted V, looking around the room at the guys with new eyes.
"A little under 11,000 years ago," I replied. "Apparently, I created them, I just don’t have any memories of it."
My words seemed to have physically wounded V as he turned white. "Want to run that by me again?" he said. "You are 11,000 years old?"
"No," I chuckled. "But we know for a fact that I was... I am the Devil. Lilith did something that I can’t remember, and I have been living in the Earth realm ever since. I probably have had countless of lives since the beginning of time; I just only remember this one."
"You’ve been around since the creation of this Earth?" hissed V as he shot to his feet.
I was about to reply, but he held up his hand for silence. "In one way or another, your soul or whatever you want to call the thing inside of you that IS you is 11,000 years old. That when this world was first created, you were there?"
"Like I said," I started, trying to figure out what was going on with him. Why was he so angry at that idea? "I know I am the Devil, and I know the Devil was in the Garden of Eden when the planet was first formed. So, while I have no memories of what happened back then, yes, my soul was alive at that time."
"Fuck!!!" screamed V as he picked up the couch he was sitting on and threw it across the room. Luckily, the house made it disappear long before it could hit another wall, but that didn’t seem to be enough for him.
Picking up everything in the room, he started smashing everything, destroying everything he got his hands on.
And yet, I sat as if in the eye of the storm as chaos reigned around me.
"Want to tell the class?" I asked, cocking my head to the side. The man had already gone through everything in the room, breaking everything, including his cup of sweet tea.
"What do you need to do in order to have order?" V asked, his eyes narrowing as the house cautiously replaced his couch and cup. Walking over, he sat down and stared at me like I was about to disappear in front of him.
"Get rid of chaos," replied Luca, his voice breaking through the small world that V and I had created.
"The creator of his realm threw me into the Void when he decided to create the world," stated V, his teeth grinding on each other like every word he spoke was pulled out of him with pliers. "Before he came, I was everything and everywhere. But he hated me, so we fought, and he managed to wound me enough to seal me away for 11,000 years."
"That sucks," I announced. I could just imagine being stuck in a place called the Void couldn’t be that much fun.
"I didn’t really care," replied V as he took a long drink of the sweet tea. "What I care about is the fact that the part of me he stole was what he used to create you. He used me, knowing that I would have given anything to have a child, and yet, he didn’t tell me anything."
