Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 323: The real danger

Lyra opened her eyes when she felt a force suddenly encircling her. She tried hard to keep her balance when a heavyweight desperately clunge to her. The thing that calmed her down from panicking was the familiar breath that fell on her neck. She wanted to laugh. She could tell her mates by how they breathed.

"Killian?" She called out while caressing his back, "I’m here, sweetheart"

Hearing her voice made him pull back. Killian took his mate’s face between his palms and glanced all over her. His desperate actions came to a halt when he sensed danger. He felt Kenna trying to warn him and snapped around. He could see Noah and Lucas encircling their mate which Killian agreed with. He moved his mate behind him while saying, "We must leave this place" he wasn’t sure he could protect his mate if things escalated. Killian and Kyrell looked like they would kill each other with the way they were fighting.

Lyra looked aghast at her mate’s suggestion. Her eyes went to Kai and Kyrell before turning to Blake, Demir, and Victor. Her sweet boy was injured, and the people she cared for and loved were fighting to the death, how could she leave them? "Killian, you have to save them, we can’t leave them here’’

Killian looked conflicted before turning to glare at Kyrell in particular, "I will kill that bastard, all of this because he couldn’t keep his hands off of Our mate’’ and worse, he already had a female of his own. What was he even trying to gain with all this? Killian had seen no one like this before. The sheer stupidity while putting themselves in danger made no sense.

"Killian, the things are not what they look like. Kyrell has done nothing wrong." Killian felt like he was hearing nonsense that usually happens only in dreams, "What did you just say?’’ he asked while looking at his mate.

Lyra on the other hand looked serious with her words, "I’m going to tell this once so listen properly all of you’’ She was done with everyone badmouthing Kyrell when the poor guy did no wrong. Her mates waited as she continued, "Kyrell doesn’t have a mate and he never betrayed me’’ It felt weird saying it out loud when she had more than one man in her life. However, Lyra had to make peace with it for she had no other choice. She lived in a world that expected her to do so and it helped that she wholeheartedly loved her mates or was trying to make sure that she grew to love them.

"I would appreciate it if you guys dropped this topic for now and did something useful’’ She grew frustrated as she went on, "Killian, stop Blake and Demir from attacking the Eagle tribe, they are innocent’’ She didn’t want to punish them for things that occurred between their higher-ups. It was unfair to them.

Killian looked at his mate. He really looked at her. Everything she was saying about Kyrell conflicted with the truth that he believed in but was what he knew really the truth? His mate wasn’t someone who would say things without thinking, She always analyzed and thought about things before speaking. And right now, his mate looked absolutely sure about what she was saying. When he glanced at Noah and Lucas to confirm things, they had the same confused expressions on their faces but were identical in voicing out their support for Lyra, "We should do as our mate says’’

The three knew their mate well. Killian turned to Blake and Demir first, "Kenna?’’

"As you wish, master’’ Kenna materialized in the air before blazing towards Blake and Demir. Meanwhile, Noah and Lucas went to retrieve the injured Victor. The two returned quickly and laid him against a boulder.

Lyra felt her heart break seeing Victor’s condition. He was fighting for his consciousness while his arm was bleeding. She kneeled near him and wanted to heal him but was stopped by Noah, "Not your powers, baby dove. Not now when you are pregnant’’ Her vulnerability in this pregnancy was warned by Darcio before. She wasn’t supposed to use her powers this time, he explained it had to do something about her being a Fairy in mortal body.

She understood him as soon as he said those words and turned to Victor, "Please wait, sweet boy. I will make sure you get healed after all of this is over’’ As she caressed his face, he leaned in trying to get more warmth from his mate. With barely opened eyes, he gave her a cheeky smile, "It feels good seeing you all worried for me. I should do this more often’’

Lyra glared at him, "Shut your mouth, you don’t get to talk when you are injured like this’’ She frowned seeing him joking at such a serious moment. He was already suffering because of his impulsive personality and that didn’t seem to change one bit even after getting hit. Always a jokester.

Killian rolled his eyes at Victor’s barely masked attempt at always trying to impress their mate. Even when he got outdone by another immortal beastman in a fight. The vulture should have been shamed for it but alas, he didn’t seem very affected. Ignoring the charlatan male, he turned his attention back to Blake and Demir. It was not easy containing them but Kenna managed to do it. That was completed, and the duo were forced to turn into their Beastmen form but Killian was far from relieved. It was because the real problem had yet to be solved.

Kyrell and Kaizer were not people he could handle, even if he used all his powers. Even without their powers, they were far more stronger in the physical aspects. Only someone that could overwhelm them could stop them. And that made him think, his gaze wandered around and he used to powers to sense him but to no avail. Was King Xavier that powerful? Killian was not able to locate the former, no matter how many times he tried.

Killian was giving up hope until he felt an overwhelming force almost knocking him to the ground. His instincts flared and his inner beast roared to protect his mate from the incoming danger. Noah and Lucas were the same, they put their mate behind them. Victor’s smile fell as he ignored his wounds and got on his feet before standing beside his mate.

"Victor!?’’ Lyra was surprised by his sudden movement and tried to hold him but he kept on pushing her behind him as though trying to desperately keep her away from what was approaching.

Blake and Demir were released by Kenna and they quickly came to their sense thanks to seeing their mate. But before they could relax any further, they were once again forced to go on alert. They stood in a distance from their mate, trying to stop the danger from reaching her.

Lyra on the other hand was utterly confused by their reactions. She didn’t understand what was happening and wished no new trouble found them. Her wish though seemed to mock her when she saw a familiar figure walking towards them. Her breathing came out labored and her hands shook in terror, she couldn’t believe her eyes. The fox king was coming to her and looked straight at her while he......held a decapitated head dangling between his fingers.
