Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 118: Who The Hell Is Abigail Snow?
Chapter 118: Who The Hell Is Abigail Snow?
What puzzled Hubner was that their chief arrived early in the morning to take over handling this case without any prior advice.
’Who the hell is Abigail Snow? She must be some important lady...’ Hubner wondered as he gazed toward Kian, who also had the same expression as him—confused and nervous.
After waiting a while, Kian’s expression was still the same; he looked even more dire, enough for Hubner to suspect something.
"Hey, Kian—"
"Yes?" Kian responds, turning to Hubner. "What is it, man?" he asked again after waiting, but Hubner said nothing. However, he could see the displeasure in his gaze. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"Are you sure this Abigail woman is only a regular person working as a barista?" Hubner finally asked.
Kian frowned, hearing his question. "Of course. She is a new barista; she works with us. Why are you asking?" he was confused by how Hubner asked; it appeared he doubted him.
"If she is only a new barista in your café, how can she pay the number one lawyer in the country? Did you know Rowan Sterling’s hourly fee?" Hubner rubbed his forehead as he felt a headache. He was starting to feel stressed helping Kian.
"How am I supposed to know that? I haven’t read business news lately. How much?" Kian asked. He knew Rowan Sterling was a top lawyer in this country but didn’t know his exact attorney fee.
"His hourly fee may be my salary in a year. So, explain to me this: How could Abigail Snow pay such an expensive lawyer? And this lawyer is not just the usual expensive lawyer; he is the tycoon-level expensive," Hubner smiled when he saw Kian and Lana gasp.
He continued, "I know how much you earn, Kian. And I’m pretty sure your salary can’t be more than mine. And I’m pretty sure our combined salary won’t cover that guy’s retention fee."
Kian was shocked to hear that. He understood what Hubner was trying to convey.
Turning to his side, he asked Lana, "Are you sure Abigail is an ordinary person? Why does she appear not to be having financial struggles, as you claimed!?"
Lana was confused. Unable to answer, she recalled the administration form that Abigail had signed when she first became an employee at their café. Was there a clue about Abigail’s true identity she missed out on?
She remembered that, at the time, Abigail only put her ID card number without an address because she was still looking for a new place to live. But after that, she never informed her new address; Abigail only said she resided at Garden Hill.
"I’m not sure. I only know she lives at Garden Hill Complex, and her grandma stays at a nursing home in Orange Town. And... before she worked at the café, she was an architect." That’s the only thing she knows about Abigail Snow.
Willow, who had been silent while listening to them chat, was shocked to hear Abigail lived in an expensive location around here. "Wow! She lives there?" he asked.
"Yes." Lana glanced at Willow.
"You know the place is expensive in this area!? People who own houses there are only from the big five wealthy families in this country..." Willow explained.
"Ah, she doesn’t own the house; she rents only the rooftop, not the entire house," Lana responded.
"Miss Lana," Hubner smiled bitterly as he looked at her. "And you believe her?"
Lana frowned. She was confused by Hubner, who seemed to doubt her. "Yes, I believe her. Why do you ask?"
"Well, Miss Lana, maybe you don’t know, but no rich people in that area will rent their houses. They already have a ton of money. They don’t need to rent their tiny space to someone else... Am I right?" Hubner smiled, looking at Lana, who appeared shocked.
"So, Hubner, you’re saying Abigail is a rich young lady who owns a house in that area?" Hearing his own words was enough to make Kian feel his feet and hands turn cold.
Hubner’s deep gaze fell on Kian as he responded, "Yes, definitely! However, I don’t know her reason for going undercover as a barista. Still, I’m pretty sure she is not someone you can afford to offend even to the slightest."
Kian felt like all his blood had disappeared; he suddenly felt weak.
"My friend, Kian, I hope you’re telling the truth. If not, I’m sorry, but you will rot in jail, man." Hubner took a deep, long breath and stood from his chair. He needed to do something to ensure his boss wouldn’t punish him.
"Hubner, please wait. I need your advice. What should I do now?" Kian tried to stand up, but his broken leg failed him.
"Advise you what to do??" Hubner chuckled as he stopped and turned to see his friend. "I don’t have one. But you better go to the hospital, man. It would be best to heal before they throw you in jail!" he said while gesturing to Willow to follow him. He didn’t have time to deal with Kian because his future was no longer as bright as he imagined.
Kian almost collapsed hearing Hubner’s words. Now, he felt worried that what Hubner said might come true. He could end up in jail if Abigail’s lawyer turned the tables.
He turned to Lana. "Can you please bring me back to the hospital? I need to have surgery tomorrow morning," Kian said faintly.
Kian was sure he had already erased all the evidence. He removed the memory card from the computer server and threw it in the toilet.
’You will be fine, Kian. You will be fine. No need to worry about anything. Now, pretend you need medical help and ask for compensation from Abigail!’ Kian tried to calm his mind. This was the only way he could escape from this matter.
"Ok, I will drive you there..." Lana responded. After hearing about the possibility that Abigail might win, she felt concerned for Kian. "Are you sure you’ll be ok, Kian? It seems Abigail is not someone you should offend."
Kian glanced at Lana as they left the meeting room. "Because she’s rich?"
"Yeah, and she can pay the number one lawyer."
"That’s good. If they want me to stop my lawsuit against her, I will ask for more money as compensation. I already asked her for 5 million, but knowing she’s rich, I will ask for 50 million!"
A relieved and happy grin slowly carved Kian’s lips as they left the building.
