Chapter 228: Family Safety

At Nursing House.

Sawyer approached the car, checking on his grandparents. Before he could say anything, Martha had already bombarded him with all sorts of questions.

"Sawyer, why are you alone? Where’s Abigail? Is Old James okay? What took you so long? Can we meet Abigail’s grandma now?"

Nathaniel, noticing his grandson’s growing impatience as his grandmother asked question after question, couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. He found the situation amusing.

Instead of intervening, he let his wife continue. He knew that his grandson was more obedient to his grandmother than him.

"Can we go inside now? I’m worried that Abigail’s grandma will get tired of waiting and won’t meet us," Martha added.

"Of course, you’ll meet her later, but not just yet," Sawyer replied patiently. "I want to let you know that Abby and I will stay in this city for a week. After meeting Grandma Sophie later, you can head back to the capital. I have a helicopter ready to take you back, so you won’t have to drive for a long time."

"What a coincidence, dear. We also plan to stay here, right, Niel?" Martha glanced at her husband.

Nathaniel was confused. They hadn’t planned to stay overnight; they intended to return to the capital after visiting Abigail’s grandmother. However, seeing his wife’s pleading expression, he nodded in agreement. "Yes, my darling. We will spend a night here," he said.

Martha smiled happily as she returned her gaze to Sawyer. "Which hotel will you be staying at?"

Before Sawyer could respond, Nathaniel suddenly suggested, "Sawyer, there’s no need to rent a hotel. You can use our family villa. I’ll call the staff to clean the room for you and Abigail. We have plenty of room in the villa."

"Yes, yes! It would be fun if we could stay together," Martha clapped her hands, excited about her husband’s offer.

"Grandma, thanks, I really appreciate it. But I have to refuse your offer. I have property in this city, so we will stay there," Sawyer quickly declined. He didn’t plan to use his family property, fearing that Harvey would find out and complicate his life further.

He didn’t want to add new problems; he was stressed dealing with his evil father-in-law.

Nathaniel was taken aback hearing Sawyer’s response. From what he knew, Sawyer wasn’t involved in the family business and wasn’t wealthy enough to own multiple luxury properties in every city.

"Brat, you need a luxurious and beautiful place to take Abigail on your honeymoon. There’s no need to be afraid. Let us use the family villa near the beach," Nathaniel tried to persuade his grandson.

"Yes, Sawyer! We could also invite Old James to join us. Let’s throw another party for you and Abigail on the property," Martha enthusiastically added.

Sawyer let out a deep breath. He knew how large the Jones family’s villa was, but his private beach villa was far more luxurious and spacious.

"My wife doesn’t need a luxurious place. The beach house is our home, and we’ll stay there to enjoy our vacation in town. Besides, we plan to bring Abigail’s grandma to stay with us at my beach villa later," Sawyer explained.

"Wow! That’s great news! So, will Sister Sophie be leaving the nursing home today?" Martha asked excitedly.

"Yes. Abby is taking care of the administration, so they should be out soon," he replied, glancing at his watch. He also noticed Vincent and Brody standing near a few cars by the main entrance. freewebnoveℓ.com

Nathaniel was surprised to learn that; he hurriedly said, "Sawyer, your grandma and I would also like to stay at your villa. Please prepare a room for us."

"Are you sure? Our place isn’t as grand as James’ family villa."

"It’s fine. We don’t prefer luxury."

Sawyer almost laughed at how his grandpa had changed his tune. "Sure, Grandpa. Alright, wait here. I need to arrange something. You can meet Abigail’s grandma later at my villa," Sawyer said as he left. He couldn’t stay there any longer.

Now, Sawyer was worried about the safety of his entire family. He didn’t just need to protect Grandma Sophie and Abby; he also had to consider his two grandmothers and James Philips, who were present.

He had to look after so many people with limited resources. It would be a problem if Adam Snow’s people outnumbered his own.

Beach House Villa.

Arriving at the beach house villa in the afternoon, Abigail and Sawyer prepared their late lunch together.

They both felt grateful to leave the nursing home without any trouble, and a chef from Century Hotel came to their beach house to prepare an impromptu meal.

After lunch, Abigail and Sawyer sat on a veranda overlooking the beach while their grandparents chatted in the living room.

Abigail leaned on Sawyer’s shoulder, her eyes focused on the waves crashing on the white sandy beach in the distance. The cool breeze refreshed her spirit after what had happened at the nursing home.

"Wife, what are you thinking?" Sawyer asked.

Abigail straightened up and looked at him.

"I’m genuinely happy for my grandma. She finally got to meet the man she loved. But even though I’m happy, I also feel sad knowing they were separated because of a misunderstanding."

"I feel the same way. I’m delighted that Grandma has found her happiness," Sawyer replied. He took her hand and was surprised to feel how cold it was. He quickly wrapped her cold hands in his.

Abigail smiled, looking at their entangled hands, before she continued, "I’m also grateful that your parents and grandparents accept me for who I am. Imagine if they didn’t like me, they might try to separate us, too, right? Thank God they like me."

She sighed silently, thinking about the possibility enough to weigh on her heart.

"You’re thinking too far ahead, Abby. Well, my dear, this is a different era... there’s no forced marriage now."

"Tsk, tsk, Mr. Jones, did you forget how they want to set a marriage for you and Ser—" Abigail started. Still, she was interrupted when Sawyer leaned in and sealed her lips with a kiss, stopping her mid-sentence.
