Chapter 262: I Agree!

Sawyer’s calm did not immediately reassure Abigail, who remained worried.

"Are you sure the news that dragged your name will not get you in trouble?" she asked again.

His hand froze in mid-air when he heard her words. He lowered it and gently took her hand.

Seeing her frown deepen, he finally responded, "Worried? A little. But that doesn’t scare me. Ethan erased the article that included my name and tried to find out who supported the reporter who dared to write such an article."

"I hope the article won’t trouble you, Sawyer," she said.

"Thank you, Abby," Sawyer replied before glancing toward Ethan. He saw him intently focused on his laptop, his fingers dancing across the keyboard. "Did you find any clues?"

Ethan’s hands stopped moving as he lifted his head to look at Sawyer. "Yes. It was your brother. Well, it is not him but his assistant; he paid a journalist to write the article," he replied.

"Harvey? Why would he do that?" Sawyer frowned, staring at Ethan in confusion. "That man was supposed to be too busy to attack me. He needed to clear his name, right?"

Ethan nodded slightly and said, "Boss, I’m not sure why he did that. However, the enthusiasm of people reading the article about you makes it clear that his goal is to divert attention from his own case."

"So, you’re telling me my ridiculous brother is trying to stir up drama within the Jones family as they fight over the company?" Sawyer asked, amused by his brother’s scheme.

"Yes, Boss. That was my guess. However, I need more time to investigate this matter in greater detail. I promise I will report back to you thoroughly," Ethan assured.

A thin line appeared on Sawyer’s forehead; he was deep in thought. After a few more seconds, his gaze shifted back to Ethan.

"Alright, you can go back to your office. I won’t disturb you. However, you need to keep an eye on Harvey’s hacker. Don’t let him gain the upper hand, Ethan..."

Sawyer was concerned, not because he doubted Ethan’s abilities, but because he feared Ethan might let his guard down.

"Boss, seriously?" Ethan said, scratching his head, which wasn’t itchy, while chuckling. "In this country, no one can match me. Don’t worry; I won’t let my guard down!" He stood up, ready to head back to Silverstone Tower. ƒrēenovelkiss.com

Sawyer remained silent, nodding in approval of Ethan’s confidence. However, before Ethan could walk away, Abigail stopped him.

"Ethan, why don’t you join us for a meal before you go?" Abigail asked, feeling sympathy for the overworked Ethan. She noticed the dark circles under his eyes; he had been lacking sleep.

Ethan’s beaming smile lit up his eyes when he heard Abigail’s offer. He wanted to stay longer but feared that Sawyer would scold him, especially since they were amid a heightened conflict with Harvey Jones.

Although Ethan anticipated facing this situation in the future, he didn’t expect it to happen so soon. He took a deep breath before responding to Abigail.

"Lady Boss, thank you for your offer. However, I must return to my office and settle this matter quickly." His sentence trailed off as he glanced at Sawyer. He swallowed hard, aware that Sawyer wanted him to leave immediately.

"Come on, Vincent, I need to talk to you about something..." Ethan glanced at Vincent and gestured for him to leave, too.

Abigail smiled faintly as she noticed Sawyer, fully aware of what Ethan was thinking. Playfully touching his hand, she said, "Hubby, let Ethan and Vincent join us for lunch, okay? I haven’t seen them both in a while and miss their humor."

Ethan and Vincent exchanged smiles upon hearing Abigail’s request.

Sawyer turned to look at her. Seeing her adorable smile and gaze made his worries about Harvey’s plotting to attack him gradually fade away. He nodded slowly, agreeing with her suggestion.

The Summit Apartment.

Harvey sat anxiously, waiting for an update from his hacker. Minutes ticked by without any news, and he started to worry that his investigation set for tomorrow would trap him.

His grandfather’s words from last night rang true; news of his suspension had appeared on the company’s website precisely at eight this morning.

This revelation stressed him out. He couldn’t afford to remain silent; he needed to shift the focus away from himself and redirect attention toward that bastard, Sawyer Jones.

What upset him was that just a few minutes after the news about Sawyer Jones appeared online, all the articles suddenly vanished from the webpage.

He confronted all the journalists he had paid to write about Sawyer, questioning why the articles had disappeared. Their responses only added to his frustration, as they were just as confused. They had also noticed that all the news featuring Sawyer Jones’ name had vanished from their site. When they tried to republish the article, their website crashed.

To make matters worse, Harvey discovered that anyone who mentioned "Sawyer Jones" on their social media accounts found their posts or comments disappearing.

Harvey was both puzzled and curious about what had indeed happened. He wanted to understand why news about his case was trending on mainstream news portals while Sawyer Jones’ name had become taboo on the internet.

When Harvey asked for answers, his hacker explained, "Master, I believe Sawyer Jones has a capable hacker. That’s why I can’t remove your article."

The fact that he knew Sawyer was associated with a skilled hacker made Harvey feel uneasy.

"No way! That’s impossible! Sawyer didn’t have the money or power to hire someone more competent than my hacker, Fox! No one can beat my Fox! No one!" Harvey muttered to himself, trying to calm his anxious mind.

"Damn you, Sawyer Jones!" Harvey cursed his half-brother as he stood by the glass wall, staring at the Jones Tower in the distance. He felt a rush of anger. Having just been dismissed from his position as CEO of J Group, he struggled to find a way to express his frustration.

He had many plans but didn’t want to act too hastily. He needed to think clearly before confronting Sawyer.

"Beep!"

The buzzing sound from his desk distracted Harvey as he walked back.

His anger began to fade as he read the incoming text:

"Brother Harvey, I agree! Please help me!"
