Chapter 271: Shocking Encounter

When Abigail and Sawyer finally arrived at James Philips’ house, they were shocked to see Harvey Jones and Serena had just left through the main door.

"Isn’t that Harvey? What’s he doing here?" Abigail turned to see Sawyer beside her, surprised to find his expression dark. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Abigail was not the only one shocked; Vincent and Brody, who were driving the car, were equally surprised. They glanced at Sawyer through the rearview mirror, waiting for him to respond.

"Let’s go down and see why he’s here," Sawyer replied calmly. However, deep down, he was shocked to learn that the woman his brother would marry was Serena Philips.

Sawyer found it hard to understand why Harvey wanted to marry Serena. Harvey is not the type of man who likes to stick to one woman.

’Is he really that desperate to get married because he loves Serena, or does he just want to marry to annoy me?’ Sawyer laughed inwardly at his thoughts.

If what he thought was right, he would feel sorry for Harvey because he wouldn’t hold onto anger toward him. He never regretted his breakup with Serena; instead, he was grateful that it led him to meet Abigail, the woman he truly loved.

Sawyer quickly got out of the vehicle and helped Abigail out of the car.

Before Abigail could leave the car, Serena’s surprised voice called from behind, "Sawyer? Abigail? What are you doing here?"

"Hey, little bro! Did Grandpa Philips invite you to the New Year’s party?" Harvey asked, confused to see his brother arriving with his wife.

When she saw Sawyer ignoring them, Serena responded to Harvey, "I don’t think so. It’s still afternoon; dinner is a long way off." She turned to Sawyer again. "Sawyer, seriously, why are you guys here?" she asked again.

Abigail held Sawyer’s hand tightly as he helped her out of the car. Her eyes looked nervously at him. She felt tense because Sawyer was ignoring Serena and Harvey’s questions. She worried they would become even angrier.

"Don’t mind them, Abby..." Sawyer tried to calm her down, knowing his wife was very nervous. "Let’s go—"

"Hmm..." Abigail suppressed her worry and followed him.

Hand in hand, Sawyer and Abigail walked toward the door but stopped just a few steps before reaching Serena and Harvey, who were blocking their way.

Serena nervously locked eyes with Sawyer, her heartbeat racing at being so close to him again. "Sawyer, I won’t stop you from entering my grandpa’s house since you know him, and he probably invited you," she said.

Her tone seemed calm, but anger flashed in her eyes when her gaze landed on Abigail. She couldn’t believe Sawyer had brought this woman to her family’s house. "But you know what, Sawyer? I won’t tolerate it if you bring this woman here..."

Sawyer gritted his teeth upon hearing Serena’s words. He couldn’t bear to see someone bully his wife.

"You are so—" but Sawyer’s words faltered as he felt Abigail’s grip tighten. He turned to her and noticed her shaking her head as if silently asking him to stop.

Abigail smiled at him. She didn’t want him to get involved; she intended to handle Serena on her own terms.

Serena chuckled softly as she leaned in closer to Abigail. "Abigail Snow, I hope you’re not offended. I don’t want my grandpa to get stressed if he sees you. He knows you as the woman who took Sawyer from me..." she whispered, loud enough for both Sawyer and Harvey to hear.

Abigail was amused to hear her words, but now she worried that Serena might have a heart attack if she knew the truth.

"You don’t need to worry. I won’t be offended," Abigail replied with a calm smile. Then she continued walking, sidestepping Serena, who was blocking her path.

"Hey! Abigail Snow, stop! How dare you enter my family’s home..." Serena exclaimed as she tried to grab Abigail’s hand. Suddenly, Vincent appeared, positioning himself between Abigail and Serena.

"What the hell are you doing here? Move!" Serena shouted, pointing her finger at Vincent, clearly annoyed. She was furious to see the same man who had hurt her manager just a few weeks earlier.

Vincent ignored Serena, smirking while he stared sharply at her as if he wanted to strike her with his gaze.

"Don’t you dare touch my wife!" Sawyer said coldly, placing his hand on Abigail’s shoulder and pulling her closer to him. They walked inside, ignoring Serena’s curses behind them.

"Why are you bringing that woman to my family’s house, Sawyer?" Serena screamed in anger, her face turning red. Just as she was about to run after them, Harvey grabbed her hand.

"Serena, what happened? Why did your grandpa invite Sawyer? Does he still see him as his future grandson-in-law?"

Harvey’s question distracts Serena from her frustration with Abigail. She felt puzzled. ’Did her grandpa really do that? Why would he? It’s impossible, right?’ Countless questions filled her mind.

"Serena? Seriously?" Harvey’s voice became annoyed as he imagined what he believed to be accurate. He would be upset because Sawyer had managed to outshine him again.

"Brother Harvey, I don’t know either. I’ll find out inside," Serena replied.

Harvey nodded as he glanced at his watch. He still had plenty of time to reach his mother’s house.

"Would you like me to go back inside? I’m concerned they might upset you," Harvey offered, expressing his worry for her.

But Serena quickly declined, "No need, Brother. You should head out now. I’m worried your mother will get upset if you don’t make it to your grandfather’s house."

Harvey’s eyes showed a hint of disappointment, but he quickly suppressed it and smiled at her.

"Alright, I’ll head out now," he said, softly patting her head before walking to the car.

Seeing his disappointment, Serena ran after him. She took his hand and said, "Brother, I’ll see you tomorrow..." She tiptoed and kissed his cheek before running toward the door.

Harvey was taken aback when she showed her PDA*. A smile framed his face. "See you tomorrow!" he shouted happily.

Vincent and Brody were stunned, looking at Serena kissing Harvey.

"Hell, are they really in a relationship?" Brody commented.

Vincent chuckled. "I doubt it. A few months ago, that woman was still chasing our boss. I guess there’s something about them."

Brody nodded, agreeing with Vincent, and suggested, "Should we ask Ethan to look into it?"

"Yes!"
