Chapter 98: Someone Tried To Harass Her?
"Why is he here? Isn’t he with Lana?" Abigail wondered, frowning as she saw Kian walking toward her.
"Are you going home?" Kian asked.
Abigail nodded slightly in response.
"I heard from Lana that you live in Garden Hill. I’m heading that way. You can ride with me, Abigail..." Kian offered, his smile broadening as he stopped before her.
Abigail was taken aback. She was at a loss for words, shocked that Lana had even shared her address with him.
Kian smiled slightly while rubbing the back of his neck when he saw Abigail’s gaze clearly show suspicion—she didn’t react at all to his offer. He didn’t want her to feel that way; hurriedly, he softly explained, "Abigail, it’s almost midnight. Walking alone won’t be safe for a beautiful girl like you."
Still, Abigail did not react, which only deepened Kian’s confusion.
"Come on, Abigail, don’t give me that look. I offered you a ride because Lana told me to take care of you as my junior. I followed Lana’s instructions because she sees you as her little sister..."
He tried again to persuade Abigail to accept his offer, but as he observed her, she appeared mute. He decided not to pressure her today; perhaps she was just too shy since this was their first meeting.
However, he notices her shaking her head before Kian can excuse himself. He frowned, waiting for her to speak.
"Kian, I’m not suspicious of you. Why should I...? But I’m slightly nervous because we have only met once." She smiled, although her smile seemed forced.
"Hahaha..." Kian’s joyful expression slowly returned. "I’m sorry, Abigail. Please, just forget what I said earlier. I thought you were afraid and kind of suspicious of me, so that’s why you avoided me."
Abigail’s hands clenched when Kian placed his hand on her shoulder. She tried to move, but his grip was so hard.
"Let’s go, Abigail. It is getting late," Kian said happily, trying to lead her to his car, but Abigail forced herself to escape his grip. "Why did you refuse again?" he asked.
Abigail’s hands clenched tightly. She felt her blood boiling as she looked at this man. He not only tried to force her, but he also touched her. If this man were not her senior at the café and Lana’s love interest, she would use violence on him now.
Taking a deep breath, Abigail tried to suppress her anger before saying, "Listen, Kian, I have to refuse your offer because I—"
Her sentence hung in the air when a man’s voice called out to her from the direction of the road. She turned to see who it was and was surprised to find a figure sitting behind the wheel.
Quickly, she adjusted her expression to appear calm as she turned back to Kian.
"Kian, I can’t follow you because someone has already picked me up. I have to go now. Bye!" Without waiting for Kian to respond, she walked briskly toward the car, leaving him standing there. She could sense his sharp gaze on her back, but she didn’t care.
Abigail focused only on the man in the car. Her eyes met Brody’s, who looked at her confusedly.
"Brody, I’m sorry..." Abigail said, offering him an awkward smile as she opened the passenger door and climbed into the seat beside him. Although Brody looked shocked, he said nothing—his eyes focused on the man in the parking area.
"Miss Abigail, are you alright? Do you need my help to deal with that man who was trying to harm you?" Brody asked. He tried to sound calm, but the tension in his voice revealed his anger. He couldn’t stand the thought of anyone trying to hurt her.
"Brody, please just drive away casually and act like we’re friends. Please..." Abigail said after fastening her seatbelt, trying to avoid glancing in Kian’s direction.
"Oh, okay..." Brody replied quickly as he noticed the tension on her face. He pressed the gas pedal, and the car began to move slowly.
Once they left the café, Abigail finally felt relief. However, awkwardness soon filled her mind as she recalled what she had said to Brody this morning. She wished she could dig a hole and hide. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
’Gosh, Abby, you are in trouble! You already asked him not to give you a ride, but now you’re voluntarily getting into his car. Girl, you are so shameless!’ she inwardly scolded herself while gazing outside, struggling to find the right words to say to him.
After a few more seconds, Abigail finally turned to look at him. "Thank you, Brody, for your help. That man earlier was my colleague. He offered to drive me home, but I refused." She continued explaining how Kian insisted on driving her home, making her uncomfortable.
"And... I’m so grateful you showed up when I needed help, Brody. You saved me..." She let out a silent sigh. "If you hadn’t shown up, I would probably end up at the police station after hurting someone."
Brody was angry to hear that the man had tried to harass his boss’s girlfriend, but he tried to calm himself down. He did not want to reveal that he was related to Sawyer.
"Miss Abigail, I’m glad I was there at the right time to help you," Brody said, quickly glancing at her before returning his focus to the road ahead.
Today, his boss, Sawyer, orders him to secretly follow Abigail home after her night shift ends. However, he reveals himself when he sees someone grab her shoulder and notices her angry reaction.
Before long, the car finally arrived at Garden Hill and soon reached house number twenty.
"Once again, thank you so much, Brody. I apologize for my rudeness this morning. If your girlfriend finds out I was sitting beside you, I will apologize to her," she said sincerely, making Brody tense.
Brody didn’t entirely hear her last words because now, he feel worried and can’t imagine what would happen if his boss, Sawyer, found out someone had been harassing his woman.
