[BL] Accidentally Becoming the Healer of the Deranged Archduke-Chapter 58: Xion Got Kidnapped
Chapter 58: Xion Got Kidnapped
Xion was not supposed to be there.
Putting aside his trembling hands, he was not supposed to drink tea with someone who had just kidnapped him, nor was he supposed to sneak out of the clinic without informing anyone.
"I’ll be back soon, baby." That was what he had told Noxian after arranging everything at the clinic.
The herbs were all provided by Mister Berry, so he could only ask the old man to distribute or sell them back.
Of course, he had taken a few, three to be exact, and stored them in his system space. These healing herbs were the local specialties. They were rare and hard to come by. freēnovelkiss.com
And even if he did find them later, they would likely cost a fortune. He, a little broke healer, could not afford that luxury for now.
He had carefully prepared the dosages for the patients scheduled for the next days, all while attending to the growing crowd already waiting for him.
Before he knew it, the sun was already hiding away under the dim sky.
Exhausted, he stepped outside the clinic to get some fresh air.
All this time, he had been so engaged in his own things that he had not taken a proper look around.
As he was told, the streets truly expressed what it meant to be the most bustling market of healers.
Even the cobbler seated in a shaded corner was offering remedies to cure a fever, and funnily, they were not wrong.
Xion glanced around. His eyes gleamed with curiosity as he witnessed the exhibition of peculiar roots being traded at the staggering price of a single gold coin.
Xion had been charging his patients only in copper coins.
100 copper coins made one silver, while 50 silver coins accumulated to the highest denomination of one gold coin.
Unlike his world, this place felt astonishingly affordable. On average, a person could survive on ten to thirty bronze coins a month, depending on their demands.
Xion was not that keen on luxury. As long as he had shelter to hide from rain and hail, delicious food to eat, he was good to go.
Now that he was thinking about it, with the sudden rise in his clinic’s popularity, he sure had accumulated a little wealth.
He had twenty-five silver coins, two hundred seventy bronze coins, and a hundred gold coins!
Nikola’s father had insisted...no. He had downright refused to leave without paying for Xion’s kindness.
Xion was just being a good person, after all. What choice did he have but to reluctantly accept a tiny amount of a hundred gold coins from the chest overflowing with treasures?
He absolutely had not been ogling that chest like a covetous dragon. Yup, not greedy at all.
Thus, the so-called good person now found himself unable to suppress the greedy little grin tugging at the corners of his lips.
Xion could not help but ponder a possibility. Can I buy a small house near a mountain with this? Maybe I can include a little pool and garden in it as well...
A loud shout broke Xion’s rich-man fantasy.
"Buy one, get one free!"
He turned his attention toward the voice. A vendor was displaying a collection of various-sized glass bottles arranged neatly on a huge table.
Each transparent bottle contained vibrant hues scattered with tiny shells.
Xion leaned closer and noticed that there were not just shells. Rather, the tiny objects were arranged according to the demand of the buyer.
Perhaps the product was expensive; there were not that many people around the wheeled table.
Curious, he picked one from the corner. The glass felt cool in his palm, and as he tilted the bottle, the delicate grains of blue-colored sand within began to shift and float under the control of mana.
The soft rustle was like a melody, so gentle, it mirrored the distant crash of waves.
For a brief moment, it felt as though he were cradling the vast sea itself, captured and contained in perfect miniature.
So beautiful.
"Young man, choose a color, and I’ll craft one just for you. How about it?"
The vendor’s wrinkled smile and warm tone held the quiet charm of someone who had spent years perfecting his art. It tugged at an old memory. One that belonged to his teacher, Minato.
Is he still alive?
The thought lingered for a moment before Xion pushed it aside. With nostalgia crowding his brain, he decided to be a little prodigal and indulge in now.
"Can you make something with pale green?" His voice was filled with excitement. "Oh! And another one, a purple sky."
He had two "sons" to think about. It would not feel right to buy for one and leave the other empty-handed.
The thought made him pause then a small smile tugged at his lips. Was this what it felt like to be a doting old father? He was almost amused by his absurd thoughts.
In high spirits, Xion selected a few finger-sized glass bottles and handed two of them to the vendor.
He stood there, entranced, as the old man moved those skillful hands, and soon one bottle was placed onto his palm.
"Here it is, your dream bottle," the man smiled and his wrinkles heightened.
There was a small mana stone imbued in the cork. The moment Xion gave the bottle a gentle shake, the purple sky within began to swirl.
A gorgeous dance of a live galaxy was glistening right in front of his eyes. There were even tiny pearls scattered like stars.
The longer he gazed, the more the world around him seemed to fade.
It was captivating, hypnotic even. Like a fragment of some distant dream trapped within glass.
He had to forcefully move his eyes away from the purple sky when another bottle was given to him.
If the purple sky had captivated him, the pale green aurora left him utterly enchanted. His wide eyes reflected the shimmering magic of the bottle in his hands.
Swirling pale green with a hint of soft gold hues merged like the Northern Lights.
There were tiny stars, but unlike the bright pearls, they were dim, as if hiding behind the pale green mist from the eyes of the strangers.
Xion paid the bill in a daze. How could something so exquisite, so otherworldly, be sold so simply? It felt like buying a piece of the heavens.
Should this not be saved in a treasure chest? Xion mused to himself. The mana had made even the most impossible wonders a reality.
He placed the two items carefully in his system space. His heart thrummed in excitement as he imagined the probable reactions.
Noxian would undoubtedly smile widely while sweetly calling him brother. As for Rael... Xion chuckled. Forget it. As long as he accepts it, that will do.
Though he had never seen Rael show too many emotions on his blank face, he sure had witnessed him smiling. Nonetheless, only a tiny arc was there on his lips.
The image of Rael’s expressionless face flashed in Xion’s mind. That tiny boy, with such a serious air about him, had looked him straight in the eyes and said, "You are mine. Don’t get hurt."
His way of showing concern was as peculiar as him. Rael was worried, but he was too shy to vocalize it.
How cute.
With a silly smile Xion took another step, and abruptly, everything became dark.
Was it not evening? Why was the sky darkening so early?
Before he could process what was happening, a wave of dizziness overtook him. The ground seemed to tilt beneath his feet, and Xion fell.
