Chapter 111 - 115: The Unconscious Chen Mo

"Sister!"

"Your Majesty!"

Die, the Eight Tribal Chiefs, and the Three Great Elders all cried out in alarm when they saw Queen Medusa faltering.

"I'm fine... I just need to rest..."

Before Queen Medusa could finish her sentence, a wave of exhaustion crashed over her like a tide. Her vision blurred and darkened. Moments later, her eyelids fell shut, her strength drained completely, and her body dropped toward the ground.

"Sister!"

"Whoosh!"

Just as Queen Medusa was about to crash to the earth, Die—still cradling Chen Mo—soared through the air and caught her just in time. freewёbnoνel.com

Inside the royal bedchamber...

When Queen Medusa awoke, the first words out of her mouth were:

"How is Chen Mo? Is he alright?"

At her bedside were Yue Nu, Die, and Yue Mei, all watching over her.

When they saw her eyes open, they sighed in relief—but hearing her first question left them momentarily stunned.

Die furrowed her delicate brows.

Why is Sister so concerned about Chen Mo?

She had even burned her essence blood—twice—for his sake. Die couldn't quite understand it.

A moment later, a sorrowful look appeared on her face as she replied:

"Elder Baru is treating him in the side chamber... I don't know the details. He asked not to be disturbed."

She paused, suddenly feeling a bit guilty. She realized she seemed more worried about Chen Mo than her sister and quickly tried to recover:

"Sister, how are you feeling? Elder Baru said you consumed too much of your origin. If not for the protection of the Medusa bloodline, your cultivation might have regressed..."

As she finished, Die began to cough violently. She too had burned her essence blood twice and was only slightly better off than Queen Medusa.

Baru had instructed her to rest properly, but concern for her sister and Chen Mo had kept her close by, barely allowing herself time to recover.

Queen Medusa knew she was showing too much concern and forced herself to suppress the anxiety in her heart.

After asking how Die was doing, she turned her senses inward and replied calmly:

"My energy is chaotic, and my origin is nearly depleted. I'll need a long time to recover... By the way, how are the defenses in the royal city? Don't lift the lockdown."

"Your Majesty," Yue Mei said, cupping her fist respectfully, "we're currently clearing the battlefield and repairing the walls. The city remains on level-three alert."

"Good."

Queen Medusa nodded. Silence returned to the chamber.

Die's face was filled with tension, anxiety, and helpless fear.

Yue Mei, too, held concern in her eyes, though she hid it well so as not to let the Queen or the Princess notice.

Queen Medusa remained expressionless—no one could tell what she was thinking.

The candle flames flickered softly in the quiet of the room.

Outside, dawn gradually approached.

After an unknown amount of time...

Baru's voice rang out from beyond the chamber.

He entered hurriedly, dressed in his usual gray robe, clearly flustered.

"Elder Baru, how is he?"

Multiple gazes immediately locked onto him.

Die spoke first, followed by Queen Medusa, then Yue Mei.

Yue Nu, as Queen Medusa's most trusted aide, stood silently to the side, keeping watch.

"Your Majesty. Princess Die."

Baru bowed to the Queen and then to Die before speaking:

"I... I can't quite understand Chen Mo's injuries."

Queen Medusa's eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of confusion flashing in them, though she remained silent—she knew someone else would ask.

As expected, Die immediately followed up:

"Elder Baru, what do you mean? Is his condition that bad?"

Her tone grew tense. After all, a hole that large in his chest was reason enough to worry.

Baru considered his words carefully.

"Logically, with a wound that severe, a normal person would've died long ago. But he's still alive... barely. Not only that—his body is extremely unusual. His healing rate is incredible, and that blue blood... it's not something a human should have."

"Isn't that a good thing?" Die asked, confused.

"Normally, yes. But for him... it might not be." Baru sighed. "His aura is growing weaker, not stronger. There's a strange energy within him... something like breaking down to rebuild again. But I can't say for sure—my experience isn't enough to understand it."

"So...?" Yue Mei asked quickly.

Baru hesitated, then finally said:

"He shouldn't die. But if he can't pull through, he may never wake up again."

Die's already pale face lost what little color remained. Her body trembled, nearly collapsing—Yue Mei quickly stepped forward to support her.

Queen Medusa's face turned cold, but her gaze shifted toward Die. To others, it looked like she was concerned for her sister, but within her heart, a murderous aura surged uncontrollably.

The sheer intensity of it caused the room's temperature to plummet—Baru and the others instinctively shivered.

"Is there any way to wake him up?" Die asked, her voice full of desperation.

Baru replied, "There's one method we can try."

"What is it?"

"His Dou Qi is depleted, and his internal energy flow is chaotic. If we infuse him with pure energy, it may help stabilize his aura and speed up recovery."

He added cautiously, "But this is only supportive. There's no guarantee he'll wake."

"Pure energy?" Die blinked, then quickly said, "I have some. I'll go give it to him."

She turned and rushed toward the side chamber.

"But Princess, your injuries—"

"I'm fine."

"Sister, calm down." Queen Medusa raised her voice gently. "You need to heal yourself first. There's still time. Once you've recovered, you can help him."

Time passed.

In the blink of an eye, half a month had gone by.

Chen Mo still hadn't awakened.

During this time, Die made it a routine to visit the side chamber each day, transferring refined energy into Chen Mo's body.

Even though her own injuries hadn't fully healed, she never stopped.

Her dedication slowly brought color back to Chen Mo's face—his once pale complexion now glowed with a faint rosiness.

Nightfall.

A graceful figure slipped into the side chamber.

She wore a red dress, her fair legs long and slender.

Walking over to the bed, she gently propped Chen Mo up and placed her hands on his back, channeling energy steadily into him.

Judging from the practiced motions, this was clearly not the first time.

Time passed again.

Another month slipped by.

Chen Mo still hadn't opened his eyes.

Yet everyone could sense that his internal condition was improving. Even while unconscious, he had broken through to the realm of Dou Ling.

But despite the progress, he showed no signs of waking.

Baru had done all he could—at this point, only Chen Mo himself could overcome this trial.

But Die refused to accept that.

She even declared:

"If Chen Mo still doesn't wake up after some time, I'll go to Cloud Mist Sect and drag Gu He here to treat him myself."

What she didn't know was—

Queen Medusa, upon hearing this bold declaration, quietly nodded to herself in agreement.
