Buzz—!
A golden light flashed within Arcueid's pupils.
Marble Phantasm suddenly activated. As Arcueid's thoughts arose, the surrounding atmosphere surged like the rising tide, rolling towards Haru from Arcueid's position.
The air swept by the surging waves produced a sound as if being sliced. If one looked closely, those waves were clearly composed of countless, indestructible steel blades.
"Imagining the air as blades? After dragging this out for so long, the townspeople should have all been dispersed! Being used as a target for so long—I have a temper too!" Haru observed the oncoming waves with keen interest, lifted his left hand, and snapped his fingers lightly.
BOOM—! BOOM—! BOOM—!
With a whistling sound exceeding human hearing resolution, a counter-clockwise rotating spiral airflow abruptly formed around Haru. The town buildings within a radius of several miles shattered into pieces within moments.
Rebar, concrete, wooden planks—instantly spiraled into the sky. Even the top layer of the surrounding ground was scraped off, three feet of soil swept high into the air along with the airflow. A scene resembling a dust storm appeared within the town.
Hiss hiss hiss—!
Within the cyclone, with speeds exceeding 60 meters per second, objects like rebar, stone bricks, and iron chunks were imbued with terrifying power comparable to rocket launchers—Coupled with the violently rotating spiral airflow—the faces of Arcueid and Altrouge—standing on the ground, instantly changed drastically.
Claws and blood whips plunged directly into the earth, stabilizing their figures.
Simultaneously, they constantly twisted their bodies, dodging the occasional building fragments hurtling towards them like cannonballs.
Golden light flashed again from Arcueid's golden pupils as she attempted to conjure an equivalent cyclone to counteract Haru's attack.
"Ineffective?!" Arcueid's pupils contracted slightly, her voice filled with astonishment.
"Marble Phantasm—ultimately, influences the probability of things appearing. However, the sky is under my dominion. If you want to manifest a cyclone without my permission, it's impossible for you, Arcueid."
Haru's calm voice echoed in Altrouge's and Arcueid's minds.
This was sound transmitted directly via mental fluctuations; in such a cyclone, sound couldn't possibly be transmitted intact. Thus, Haru used the Single-Action technique of Mental Sensing.
"Ugh—! X2"
Two soft, slightly distressed sounds escaped from the sisters' mouths. Although it was a Single-Action technique, because it used the high-mystery energy of magical power, this technique directly carried a strong mental impact.
"Conceptual attack? And mental type? This technique should only be Single-Action!" Altrouge frowned, her face showing astonishment. When did the lowest level of magecraft possess such terrifying power, capable of affecting even her spirit?
The stabbing pain in her head made Arcueid lightly bite her lip, half-closing her eyes as she looked at the blurry figure within the cyclone ahead, a trace of anger rising on her face.
"Apologies, my power manifesting in this world always seems to have this added effect—" Haru pursed his lips, speaking helplessly.
The heavy impact, like a hammer striking the head, came again. Sensing the somewhat familiar power fluctuation, Altrouge's face changed slightly, blurting out, "Divine Power? This familiar power?"
Altrouge recalled a week ago, outside Paris, a certain Divine Spirit whose defensive technique had heavily injured her. A suspicious gaze projected towards the blurry figure.
Divine Power was like an ID card. Haru's power was so similar to the God she had encountered; she absolutely wouldn't believe there wasn't something fishy going on.
However, Altrouge wasn't worried Haru would harm her, though curiosity gnawed at her like a cat scratching.
'I'll ask him sometime.' Altrouge narrowed her crimson eyes slightly.
The stabbing pain came again, making Arcueid's pretty face turn incredibly cold. Dazzling golden light emanated from her golden pupils, even faintly flashing with iridescent light.
"ROA!!"
The two mental attacks thoroughly enraged Arcueid. She began to subconsciously release the power suppressing her urge to feed. Subsequently, an unlucky demonic serpent, under Haru's control, was swept up by the cyclone and brought before Arcueid.
"..."
Arcueid looked astonishedly at the demonic serpent floating before her. However, while she was stunned, her body acted instinctively.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Dozens of blade lights flashed. The demonic serpent was cut into countless pieces, entering the resurrection countdown phase.
"Haru?" With suspicion, Arcueid tentatively called out.
The cyclone abruptly dissipated. Building debris, losing its centrifugal force, fell to the ground with whistling sounds, producing heavy impacts.
"I've reminded you dozens of times, and only now you realize, Arcueid?" Haru stared with dead fish eyes, his face cold, looking at Arcueid.
"Ahaha~~ Ahahaha~" Arcueid touched the back of her head, laughing awkwardly.
Haru looked expressionlessly at Arcueid. Under that indifferent gaze, Arcueid lowered her head, her pretty face slightly flushed, counting ants on the ground.
Suddenly, Haru spoke nonchalantly. "Trying to run somewhere?"
Altrouge, who was preparing to sneak away nearby, stiffened all over. Looking at the expressionless Haru, cold sweat trickled down her cheeks.
Arcueid's pupils contracted slightly. She quickly lifted her head, looking angrily at her sister. Clearly, she realized the previous misunderstanding seemed to have been caused by Altrouge's guidance.
Watching the two fierce-looking figures before her, Altrouge's face changed slightly. After hesitating for a moment, she pressed her legs together, lifted her fair arms, hugged her small head, and slowly crouched down.
"What's this?" Haru looked somewhat astonished at Altrouge's series of actions.
"You said... if I assumed this pose called 'Head-hugging Squat Defense,' any mistake could be forgiven—" Altrouge carefully lifted her head, speaking awkwardly.
"I did say that, but your sister?" Hearing this, Haru immediately stopped, looking teasingly at Altrouge.
Her pupils faintly flickering with golden light, Arcueid, her face cold, materialized a life-sized iron hammer.
——
——
"It seems the misunderstanding has been resolved." Strout withdrew the Daemon Eater that pinned Merem's arm, bent down, pinched his neck, intending to drag him along.
Blood similarly sheathed his knightly sword, glancing towards the Church Executors on the slope, who faced them as if facing a great enemy. "Well then, what about those Church personnel behind us? Fou, use the contract to contact Her Highness."
"Awoo?" Fou let out a low growl, then spoke. "Her Highness said to just ignore them. She also said... the Church might possibly no longer be an enemy?"
"Hmm. Since it's like that, let's go. Let's rendezvous with Her Highness first," Strout pondered for a moment, then spoke slowly.
Out of trust for Altrouge, the three Dead Apostle Ancestors let the Executors behind them go, dragging Merem towards the town.
