Claimed By A Dragon Prince-Chapter 46: Declaring Her Status
Chapter 46: Declaring Her Status
Watching the Dragon King walk away, Lily worried about the reward he would give. Everything always seemed to come with a price, and she knew this would, too. Looking to her Prince she felt a sense of calm seeing him delegate tasks to everyone and speak with healers about their progress.
Lily walked over to the tent she had seen him walk into waiting for him to finish speaking with the healer checking the Dragon moss on the patient which was staying adheased to the skin. The wound didn’t look aggravated or infected either showing the dragon moss was healthy. "You must thank your mate for her efforts. A lot of healers have tried to stress to the nobles about this concern. I am glad someone was listening."
The healer bowed moving to speak with one of his nurses as Dimitri walked over to her. "Everything is in order and the Dragon moss has done its job. The healers are grateful that you have worked so hard to cultivate the pure dragon moss you brought. I was told how bad the problem was, but seeing it is eye-opening." Lily nodded knowing this was only going to get worse. Her finding will solve so many problems and thankfully she will leave in two days.
Looking to her mate she would miss him even with the short time they’ve had together. "Come on, your father won’t wait too long before coming out here to get us. And I want to rub this in Alisa’s face a bit. It should be quite the sight." Dimitri just shook his head at his mate who was enjoying the idea of upstaging her tormentor far too much.
Making their way back into the castle after Dimitri left orders with Erik to contain and clean the area, carefully. Heading to a side room just before the main hall Dimitri made sure no one stopped them as they opened the door. Nina and Dimitri’s servant were there to help their masters dress quickly. Moving behind a shade Nina quickly helped her mistress with her clothes and boots then helping her back into her tights and fresh undergarments.
Lily grabbed the dagger she used tucking it in her garter belt for good measure. Slipping the dress back on Nina laced her in fast as Lily slipped her feet in the slippers. Making minor adjustments to her hair and makeup Nina made sure her mistress was just as fresh as when she first walked in.
Stepping out from behind the shade Dimitri’s heart stuttered seeing his mate go from warrior goddess to elegant maiden in just minutes. Moving to set the shawl on her arms he leans in kissing his mark feeling the shudder move over her body. "Thank you." Lily sounded breathless as he moved to lace her arm in his. Opening the door they headed back to the ballroom as only a couple of hours had passed since they left to handle the attack.
They moved confidently through the crowd people moving out of the way as they passed bowing and thanking them for their efforts. Dimitri steered them towards the royal resting section when they were cut off by the Wolf King, Queen, and Alisa. "Well, we always knew you could do great things! Are you hurt? Is there any assistance we can offer?" The Wolf King tried to seem concerned while his mate and daughter nodded dutifully.
Lily hated the fact that they wanted to bask in her accomplishments knowing how they treated her throughout her life with them. Gripping her mate’s arm she had to fight back the need to punch him in the face. Dimitri spoke up feeling his mate’s rage at these people’s words.
"We have the situation under control. Lily’s skills were honed at the Dragon Academy which is where she cultivated the Dragon Moss used to heal the injured. She did this all on her own merit and saved several lives with her quick thinking. She has shown how much she cares for the people of the Dragon Clan who have strived to help those with untapped potential. Do remember she is her own person, not your ward." Lily felt ever so proud of her mate for not only sticking up for her but telling everyone close enough to hear that the Wolf Clan were as rumor said, just dogs to their people.
The Wolf King looked offended when Alisa rushed up clasping her hand trying to be a sister she never was. "How can you let him speak about your family this way?! A mate should respect their elders and family no matter what! Don’t let him treat us this way, Sister." Lily slapped her hands away at the "sister" comment wanting nothing more than to watch her burn forever thinking Lily thought of her that way.
"Don’t ever call me that. You have never been a sister to me. Save your pity and cares for someone who will believe you. I told you I want no part of your family. Respect that." Lily went to step past when the Wolf King grabbed her arm leaning in close hissing in her ear. "You can’t do this to us! We will be ruined!"
Lily looked him in the eyes with contempt shaking him to the core with the amount of judgment foreshadowed in those eyes. Letting go, Lily continued on her way with Dimitri giving the Wolf King a death stare as he passed by. The Wolf Queen supported her mate as he stumbled back watching what he thought to be his greatest prize go walking away out of his hands. Alisa could not believe she would have to confidence to stand up to them, even with a powerful mate.
Max had watched the scene from one of the outdoor terraces, seeing how the woman he had once thought to claim had made her choice and it wasn’t him. Downing the contents of the glass Max walks into the shadows having no mind to watch his regrets take over as his loss come crashing to the front of his mind.
