Claimed By A Dragon Prince-Chapter 56: Surprise Attack
Chapter 56: Surprise Attack
Making their way to the great hall the Dragon King was waiting for them as delegates from other Clans were leaving after the festivities from the past week. Approaching him, The King took Lily’s hand holding it with care. "This will be a difficult task and there are dangers in the forbidden territory that even our most powerful dragons couldn’t take down. Be careful."
Squeezing his hand in reassurance Lily hears his warning taking it to heart. "We will. and thank you for allowing Dimitri to accompany me. I would have been fine on my own, but having a dragon Prince with me does make moving about much easier." The Dragon King laughed heartily at her words knowing full well she could handle herself as she secured her long trench coat around herself.
Just then the Wolf Clan Family came out of the castle with their servants tailing behind them. Alisa had a look of envy on her face while Max looked dejected still. That fool had no business kissing Lily and she was glad they were leaving. Hopefully she would avoid them on her travels to the West.
The Wolf King looked Lily’s way hoping she would see them off, but she was having a friendly conversation with the Dragon King who was, indeed, acting like a father to her. The Wolf King turned in a huff storming into his carriage after his queen who looked disgusted at the sight. He would get her back soon enough and then things would be back to normal.
"Don’t think you get to leave with out saying goodbye to me." Prof. Magnus spoke up from behind Lily with a bundle in his hands. "What’s this?" Lily was curious about the bundle wondering what it could be. "Its something I have been meaning to give you. It may not seem useful at the moment, but it help you later on. Don’t open it unless you are in dire need."
She nodded giving him a tight hug, feeling for what seemed the first time that her father was trying to look out for his daughter. "Thank you, Daddy." Lily whispered in his ear so only he could hear her. The smile that spread across his face was worth the risk she took. Pulling back Dimitri was hugging his father in far well before they waved moving a distance away while Dimitri started to shift into his dragon.
Lily packed his robe in his pack before grabbing a long strap from her pack moving to his head. "Lay down for me so I can secure out things on your back, please." He nodded laying down while she leaned on his back setting her pack on the flat part of his back between his wings. Grabbing a thick blanket to set behind his neck she secured the belts under his neck.
Then she gestured for him to stand and secured their bags with the strap. Dimitri held out his paw as Lily looked like he was crazy then shook her head sitting on the pad as he lifted her to his neck. Her father and the Dragon King waved to them again as Dimitri turned to the West opening his wings as he leaps into the air and Lily settling into her seat behind his neck.
They had to travel over Wolf Clan territory first before reaching the forbidden territory. It used to belong to the Bear Clan, but after a power struggle within the royal family they were disband and whipped out by each other. Only a few of the Clan still exist and they were usually blacksmiths because that was what the Clan had been famous for was its weaponry.
Dimitri leveled out when he was high enough facing away from the sunrise. The air was pleasant to Lily as she watched the world below become very small. Seeing it from this height always fascinated her since she had always been on the ground seeing everything up close. This must be what her mother seen and felt when her father spoke about he world being a tapestry.
Seeing the fields cleared for the season and the forests around them mostly bare reminded her that she still only had a year to make up her mind. Lily wondered if her father was going to make the same choice since he found her and would be able to return to his mate. After finding out who he was to her, Lily wasn’t sure if she wanted him to go. Maybe when she came back she would talk to him about this choice.
Dimitri could tell Lily was lost in her thoughts after finding out that her father was a god and had been close to her for years. HE would have been mad as hell, but than again he didn’t suffer the same way Lily did. He had to fight to survive for a different reason. Remembering he needed t stop by his mothers temple he changes course turn hard to head that way.
*What’s the matter? Did you forget something?* Lily asked him through their link. *Yes, we were supposed to stop by my mother’s before we left, remember?* Lily had almost forgotten that Lady Kyoka asked them to stop by before they left. It had been a strange request at the time since they didn’t know when they might be leaving.
It only took a few minutes for them to change course and head to her temple. It wasn’t far from the castle as they flew closer to it. Dimitri could see smoke coming from one of the towers, picking up speed hoping his mother was okay. Landing on the grounds outside the temple servants and priests were rushing to put the fire out. A sense of danger was high as Dimitri tried to find the real threat.
Lily jumped down grabbing one of the servants to ask what happened. "A darkling dragon attacked the temple. It set fire to the eastern tower where the high priestess was praying. She fought it off, but was badly wounded. The healers are with her now." Lily knew this could turn bad and grabbed her pack heading inside.
Finding the room the servants were frequently coming in and out of she went inside to see worse then what Dimitri suffered from his attack. The lady was practically bleeding out the claw marks looking as if they were trying to rip her insides out. Her lips were purple and she was shaking from shock. The healers were not hopefully about her making it.
Working fast Lily pulled out the Dragon Moss she had stashed in her pack pulling out the largest strip and grabbing a powder and cream to apply to the backside of the moss. "This is going to hurt like hell, but it will heal the wound. Bite down on this." Lily handed her a piece of cloth as she bit down on it.
Nodding her head for Lily to continue, Lily removed all the bandages from her abdomen the blood coming out fast as she pressed the dragon moss over the whole wound. The healer helped her make sure the edges sealed to the Lay’s skin as her breathing became more even. Dimitri rushes in at that moment having dealt with the darkling dragon outside.
He sees his mother in a dire state and his mate working hard to saver her. "By the Goddess! Mother! How is she?" Lily stepped back letting the healer take over as one of the servants hands her a bowl or water to wash her hands and arms. "That things got her good. The Dragon Moss should do its job, but I want to stay and make sure she is healing properly."
Dimitri nodded wanting to stay as well even if it delayed them a day or two. "I agree. I want you hear attending to her then I want to call for Trinee. She can bring more Dragon Moss from your Lab if it’s needed." Lily agreed with him since that strip would only last so long.
The heart broken look on Dimitri face had Lily’s heart twisting in a vise knowing her mate was suffering seeing his mother in such a state. Lady Kyoka opened her eyes reaching for him as he knelt to her on the floor. "My son, do not worry so much. You got here in time. I knew you would." He kissed her hand a tear streaming down his face as he looked down at her.
"You can’t take risks like that. I can’t lose you. Not yet." Lady Kyoka patted her son’s cheek a weak smile on her lips. "I knew you would save me. Daughter, come here." Lily stepped forward kneeling next to her. "Thank you. I know you will do great things for this Clan. Keep him happy. He needs you." Lily nodded as the woman settled into a slumber breathing steady and even.
The Healer had them move to the hall so the lady could rest. "She should be okay for the time being. I will continue to monitor her for the next couple nights. Thank you, your highness for you quick thinking." "I will leave a supply of Dragon moss and the powder and cream i used on the wound so she heals properly. That wound should have killed her, but with the powder i used it promotes quick healing. The only down side is it hurts to fast heal wounds like that. So she will be uncomfortable, but healing."
The healer bowed to them going back into the room as they made their way to the eastern tower. "What was you mother doing in this tower? and why would they just suddenly attack it?" Lily was confused about the targets the darkling dragons were aiming at. First the boarder, then the city, not a temple. What the hell were they looking for?
