Chapter 80: Testing Energy

The next morning Lily felt her power acting differently since she awakened. She could hear the plant life speaking to each other and understand the whispers in the wind. When she started the fire it was like breathing where before it had been such a struggle. She knew she wasn’t like everyone else, but this just felt like so much more. Dimitri watched her as she slowly tested some of her skills.

When she wanted the water jug she used the wind to lift the jug in the air and slowly came over to her in a mini tornado. Of course most would have been more direct about using wind where as she was more free with her choice. Dimitri, himself, had forgotten the joy of just learning and understanding his gifts. His mating marks did extend again from the night before. Now covering his arms and most of his chest almost like it was armor of some type.

Seeing how happy Lily was testing her skills out he figured why not see if his had changed as well. Standing he moved away from their little camp to do a couple advanced moves he liked to practice with. Calling up his fire he felt how it always wanted to consume him, but this time it waited for his command. "Dragon Strike!"

He built up the energy in his right arm before aiming for a boulder just across from him no more the 8 meters away. The Dragon Strike materialized into a blue flames dragon charging towards the boulder that shattered into a million pieces. He heard clapping from his left as Lily stood seeing just how powerful her was. "Wow! I didn’t know you could do that!"

He smirked at her stepping into another stance gathering energy into his hands again while moving them in a circle then to his center. "Charge of the Dragon!" A tunnel of what looked to be several dragons came charging out of his hands disintegrating the boulder set on the other side of the clearing. He felt the energy loss but not as much as he used to.

"Ha! I thought that one might make me drop, but I was right to think I had advanced like you. I’ve been feeling this since we met." Lily listened as he came over to her seeing her tails had yet to disappear. "So not everything can go back?" Dimitri pointed out her tails and she looked behind her shocked. "I guess not. Huh. Okay. Never a dull moment with me. Anything else you can see?"

He looked her over seeing two striped on her cheeks that didn’t fade and suspected there might be some on her hips as well. "Just a couple stripes here." He ran his fingers over the stripes watching her eyes react to his touch and his breath hitch from the contact. "Dangerous man, yes that is what you are." She sounded out of breath almost stepping away, but Dimitri wouldn’t let her move.

"To everyone else, but you, my love. You still have work to do and we still need to go back and see why they were protecting a corpse. Did you sense anything from the eggshell or the corpse?" Lily had sensed something dark and sinister coming from the egg. the energy alone had her on high alert. The thing that bothered her though was why it was there in the first place. It seemed way to obvious.

She wasn’t sure how Dimitri would take finding out his own twin was being used for evil purposes. "I felt something from the corpse for sure, and it wasn’t good either. We need to go back so i can take a closer look, please." He wasn’t comfortable taking her there, but he had to trust she would know how to take care of herself.

His instincts said to keep her away, but past experience dictates he needs to trust her more. "Grab What you need now to take notes and gather samples. Set them up in you hip pouch that way if you have to do it fast you can. I’ll be right there with you to watch your back in case the darkling dragons try to attack again."

Lily had her own thoughts about this and hoped he would listen and not shut her out. "I don’t think they were attacking." Dimitri had an uncertain look on his face about what she was saying but she held up her hand to stop his reply. "I have a reason to say this. Are you hurt? Were you covered int he toxin or splashed with it? No, you weren’t. Which means they were always after something and the last place they attacked was your mother temple. What else is she hiding that they might want?"

Dimitri still looked confused since he was at a loss as to what it could be. "I’m not sure. Mother was the high priestess of the temple, but even she had her secrets. I’m half dragon god and can’t tell anyone because of what that would do to the stability of the kingdom. That’s why I had to prove myself through merit to the people."

Lily could understand this since Gram’s was kind of the same way. She knew accusing someone of something doesn’t make it true or right. Giving someone a chance to explain without a threat on the heads can change a person in an instant. People just had to see that their worth isn’t valued as nothing. The one’s with power have to show it.

"If we figure this out you may not have to hide anymore and neither will I. I just hope this doesn’t hurt your mother too. From what I have seen she has suffered enough." Dimitri nodded agreeing with her. His mother had been put through a lot and him being taken from her at a young age was hard on her as well. He just wanted her to be able to see him as freely as he can see her. He always felt she was trapped in that temple more then she was free to be there. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

He let her go so she could prep her tools for gathering information and collecting samples. She already had small pack that she kept most of what he mentioned to her ready for use. He should have known that, but he had yet to do this kind of work with her before. Turning back to him ready to leave she waited for him to shift.

"Nope you get to have you first flying lesson today. Come on." He walked to the middle of the clearing waiting for her to follow. "Really? Now?!" She stormed over to him a little irritated. "First you we’re going to do work and now you want to teach me a dragon lesson? What’s next i have to breath fire too?"

"Not this time, but food for thought. " She had the "I’m going to murder you" look on her face as he tried to hide a chuckle. "Now just relax and slowly shift to your goddess form." Lily could feel it right there ready to use whenever she need it. Slowly letting it out she felt her body change and it wasn’t such a shock this time. The change was more fluid as if she moved from one body to the next.

Opening her eyes she could see things more clearly in the light and see the flow of energy from the plants to the water to the sky. She never knew this was how things moved and flowed this way. "This is a whole new way to see life and energy. I wish I could show you what I’m seeing right now."

He smiled at her moving up next to her. "One day you can show me for now lets try to work on flying. Feel the air around you, I have an affinity for air. I seen that last night. Channel it and move it over your body." she did as he instructed feeling the air element come to her like a perky little sprite,. it tickled her skin and had her wanting to let it float her body. Listening to her instinct she did just that as she felt her self levitate before she shot into the air faster then Dimitri had ever launch before. "Ahhhhhhh!!!!! Slow down, Now!" the air moved slower now letting her catch her breath.

Trying not to panic she looked around seeing that she wasn’t falling and Dimitri wasn’t to far behind her. Moving right then left she figured out how the wind would move over her body. She leaned and dipped went through the clouds and up so high she almost lost her breath.

"Holy Shit! HA! Whoa!" Lily fell for a bit before the wind caught her again as she soared through the air. Dimitri watched his mate as she experience flight by herself for the first time the joys and pit falls of first flight.
