Chapter 127 - Beneath the Statue(12)
Each and every one of the stones that he had obtained up to now had been different, he didn't really know for those that Manug had given him as he had only really looked at the one containing his overload active, his current favourite, with the others being more or less unimportant to him due to the danger he had been, resulting in him not really looking at the two.
But other than that he knew that the two he had gained by now, not including the one he had gained from Manug, had been completely different, so much so that he was wondering how they came about in the same way, through the golden stone he had absorbed from Manug, the stone of which he was certain that he might've also brought the accursed eternal scream of Manug into his head, the scream which even now wouldn't stop.
This in on itself, the outwardly appearance was already quite interesting, and very intriguing to Cades who still had no idea how these stones were even formed as he could not imagine that a being more powerful than him would form each and every single stone with it's hands, no, he was certain that the stones were created through an automated process, but that also created the question of how that process was made, how it works, what it's true purpose was, why it was cladding the stones in different dresses each and every single time, why it didn't just keep them the same.
And even further, Cades had also realized that the two stones which he had managed to enter had been different, in the Case of the golden marble the green light deep within was fading, but flickering, trying to stay together desperately but quickly fading, being extinguished by something and being encased in a golden intent to make him move, but the one he had just absorbed, the one he hadn't really even checked up upon yet, it had been with a deep blue, an intent to stick together, to stay as itself, desperate, but silent, it had been almost mesmerizing, and there had been no pressure against it. freёwebnoѵel.com
Changing the outside of an artifact was one thing, Cades knew that quite well, he had done it quite often himself, it was incredibly easy to just carve the engravings on the inside with most creations, especially when creating something from scratch, it just took a lot more time, but these stones were made instantly, and he knew that, and yet, even the insides were all so different.
What really interested him about this was that everything was special about each and every single one, as he had already previously thought of, but what was the problem with this was that Cades knew how difficult it is to change the inner workings of an artifact, especially a presumably complicated one like this.
With his thoughts still raging on, oftentimes simply repeating the things he had just thought up, coming to the very same conclusion but trying to look at it from dozens of different perspectives, dozens of different possibilities, all of which were still fairly far-off and unlikely, though most of them did still include the gods as he could simply not imagine what else could have created something like this, except, maybe, beings incredibly close to the gods, and even then he wasn't sure how the hell they incorporated that design or why the stone had the intent of staying as is within itself, or rather, he simply didn't want to understand it.
Either way, it took him a few minutes, a surprisingly great amount of time and a kind of stabbing pain in the back of his back, perhaps because he hadn't moved it in so long that blood clots might have formed, or perhaps that his muscles had completely given up until he had returned to his body and tried to move it, but in the end he was finally able to move once more, finally able to control his hands and feel his complete body, aside from his legs that still took a bit of time, something he thought might have something to do with he fact that the legs are the furthest away from his head, but to be entirely honest that was more of a short theory he had thought up first, in truth he had soon found another, much more likely theory.
When he had been flowing through his own body he had felt the wave of intent, the intent that the active had been made up of, but as he had finally entered it he could feel that he had left the flow, as if to go into an entirely different direction, as such his current theory was that the active was currently taking hold within his feet, perhaps taking longer because of Cades' meddling, perhaps always having been destined to take that long, either way he could already tell that it wouldn't take too much more, just a few minutes at most, though it would still be boring, but what else could he do, other than repeating all of his theories over and over again, ever so slowly losing his mind.
And yet, as he was just sitting there, his legs still stuck in the lotus position, he was smiling ever so slightly, and not due to something good, no, it was rather bad, he was thinking something quite degrading and useless to himself, something that now sane person should ever truly think, something that he, himself, knew was a horrible sign for his psyche, but he thought it anyways.
Perhaps it would be nice to have a person to talk to, even it it's truly just myself...
It was an empty thought, one destined to never be fulfilled, at least he thought so, but he thought it anyways, and after that his smile turned into a frown, he looked down and he began to contemplate, he began to feel tears welling up in his eyes that he had long since thought of as having run out of tears to cry, but before he could truly get lost, he finally felt a tingling sensation crawling up the base of his legs.
