Crusader King-Chapter 131: Beneath the statue (17)
Chapter 131 - Beneath the statue (17)
Cades had first started to dismantle the carcass with his blade, something that he, however, soon regretted as he sadly had to watch multiple mana-arteries be cut apart by the sharp blade that was not too good for searching either, unlike a knife or dagger for example, something Cades was quite intent on making at some point in the future as well, that point being now.
After he had begun to dig through the mostly cold meat he began to realize that he needed the right tools for the task, as such he began to make a small list in his mind, starting from the easiest, perhaps the ones he would have to make with his sword, such as a small dagger and knife, both for fighting, as a backup, and for further dismantling, and as such he finally had a whole list of tools ready when he had gotten to the bones of the spider-like creature, having pushed aside all the normal meat and tendons, something that the last eximimus queen didn't have for the most part, aside from, interestingly enough, some kind of bones, white, as well, perhaps just because such big beings need stronger bones and these were better than having the bones on the outside, especially when facing someone like him.
He would need a drill, one to make the gateways for the tendons and arteries inside the bones that he had now excavated out of the fleshy corpse, something that he knew would take him perhaps the longest to make and at the same time one of the most important parts of the entire prosthesis, despite the fact that he knew that he would have to carve each and every single 'wave' on the long stick which he would then have to focus and drill with over and over again by hand, a task that was already starting to make his hands itch that were currently bathing in some reddish black blood that had retained it's warmth within the depths of the giant carcass, something that made Cades assumed that it had only been about two days at most.
After he had realized that and been juggling with the fact of how long he had been lost inside the intent of the active which had turned out to be just for sticking to surfaces, he began to think of the fact that he would also need two blade, one that was long and sharp, something like a dagger, useful for forceful power and as a backup during a fight, just as he had previously already been thinking, and then he would have to make a small, intricate blade useful for carving runic sequences and simply carving the bone as he was certain that there would not be an ehetrian skeleton hidden within the spider skeleton, something that he was still confused about and disgusted with.
Lastly he began to think about something that he would require atop that, mostly for small incisions and leading the dried tendons and magical arteries, something he intended to later do using some smaller heat magic, perhaps just infusing the weakest lightning he could into the sword and letting it cook on medium heat for about an hour while he did other stuff, preparing, planning, or something of the likes.
Other than that he would also need a thicker needle and a smaller needle, the smaller one longer than the thick one so that he would be able to easily move the surprisingly thin mana arteries around his relatively small arm, something that had quite surprised him but also explained why the being had not really used any magic, as it had mana arteries the size of an ehetrian, not that he had ever used those in artificing, he had just been wanting to.
The thicker one was for the tendons that were relatively big and strong in comparison to an ehetrians, he would use them for some of the pull-mechanisms and perhaps even intricate them together with the mana arteries to let them activate themselves.
Then, as he had finally wrapped everything up, he was ready to make the tools which would then allow him to make his new arm, starting with the two blades seeing as they should allow him to further enhance his speed and effectiveness with the following tools and especially the arm itself.
He began with the bigger one, picking up one of the weirdly ehetrian bones, reminiscent of a upper leg bone, forced a few pieces to break off, letting some shards flying around in the process one of which hit his feet, though he neither cared nor really took not of that as he had already begun to take out his blade and start as soon as it had been turned into a hand little thing, a thick twig about a foot long, just right to be turned into a dagger and perhaps even make a sheath later on after he had wrapped the arm up entirely.
Thrusting his blade into the dirt and ever-so-slightly blunting it in the process he began to move the piece of bone up and down, intending to first get the right shape and later enchant it with some magic, such as for example a hardening spell and perhaps even his first try and imbuing intent, something that he was however certain he would not be able to even try without the blade first having it's own intent, something for which he should've perhaps just kept the active that had come from the spider's body, utilizing it to trick his mind into believing the bone had intent, perhaps that would've worked. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
And after some time the first dagger was already finished, with nothing really noteworthy happening aside from Cades cutting himself once at the tip of the dagger, when it was almost done and he had almost let it drop, causing him to bleed a few drops of blood that were hungrily devoured after he smirched them on the stones beneath, a kind of sacrificial thanks for letting him stay and build this here.
