Cyber Era Witch-Chapter 43 - 31 Charging
43: Chapter 31: Charging
43 -31: Charging
“`
“Cui Junyou stretched languidly, “Even if we have enough parts, there’s no way to do the surgery without the right conditions.
We’ll need to find a proper hospital or an automatic doctor.”
“Indeed, your underground clinic won’t cut it,” Xu Yang laughed, “I bet you’ve been doing implant surgeries in a contaminated environment all this time.”
“Don’t frame me; I had booked the cleaning service to come by today, but they couldn’t make it because of the situation,” Cui Junyou waved his hands in denial.
“But,” Nidelaide defended her master, “none of the patients who underwent surgery by Master Cui have had any problems.”
“I suggest we move immediately,” Lila pointed out, “The number of Ratmen around us is increasing rapidly, and even if their initial intention is to gather, they might come hunting us for food on the way.”
“Yeah, everyone in the building was eaten within half an hour,” Cui Junyou said with a face full of lingering fear, “I heard the screams from the floors above…”
“Does this building have enough firepower to fend off the Ratmen?” Xu Yang was curious.
“I have constructed the model, taking into account the number of surrounding targets and their assaults.
Due to power issues, if we fully activate the security devices, we can hold out for about 17 minutes and kill up to 1250 humanoid creatures, currently marked as ‘Ratmen,’ a subset of diverse mutant life forms with many mystical traits that remain unverified,” Lila explained in detail.
Ratmen surely exceed 1250 in number, and staying holed up here was absolutely the worst strategy, equivalent to trapping oneself in a place with no escape, additionally risking being spied by the Suzuki Group.
We must head outside, above ground, instead of staying underground.
In other words, we need to move quickly, need an automatic doctor, and need safety along with a ticket out of this mess.
Gradually, he thought of the perfect thing that could get them out of this mess and back to the surface.
The black Shuttle Machine at the excavation site.
Now that Digital Mind was barely usable, and with Lila replacing the shuttle’s innate artificial intelligence, we could take it, leave quickly, and distance ourselves from all the trouble in the Katagi District, free as the sky and sea.
Xu Yang took a deep breath.
“Let’s leave the megastore,” he said, “We’ll gather the necessary resources and then go.”
“Don’t dream; we cannot reach the next district on foot, it’s ten kilometers away, think of how many dangers we would face,” Cui Junyou raised his voice, afraid the others would make an unwise decision.
“No need to walk, I’ll take you outside of Katagi District first.
Deep in a cave, there is an excavation site with a Shuttle Machine that has an automatic doctor onboard,” Xu Yang patiently explained.
“A Shuttle Machine…
If there’s such a good thing, why didn’t you use it to escape yourself?” Cui Junyou was skeptical about everything.
“The artificial intelligence it came pre-installed with had locked it down; it couldn’t be started,” Xu Yang turned to Lila, “But Lila, you should be able to replace that AI and take control.
I’ll use Digital Mind to block the original access rights, then you can connect to it.”
“Yes,” Lila nodded in agreement.
“With the Shuttle Machine, we’re in business; it has a good carrying capacity.” Cui Junyou went to the vending machine and bought another ten packs of beef jerky.
Xu Yang dragged Kanako out of the game room, which had rather outdated entertainment equipment.
She was still playing with a little game controller.
“Xu Yang!” Kanako said cheerfully, “I just defeated a super powerful Bullhead Demon!
It jumped down from the top of the city wall, looking so majestic.”
“Well, that’s impressive,” Xu Yang felt dizzy and exhausted.
He had been through countless things today and desperately wanted to rest.
Farosa noticed Xu Yang’s pale face but dealing with Lila was the top priority.
“What in the world is this thing.” Farosa was on high alert, “It’s holding its own head, yet it has another one on its neck, how dare it call itself a Witch.”
“Huh?” Kanako stepped back when she saw Lila’s frightening form, “Is this what a Sky Crane Robot is supposed to look like?”
“Do you recognize this model called Sky Crane?” Xu Yang was curious, “Which game did it appear in?”
“What game?
I have a few prototypes at home; this one seems to be a new product, prettier a bit,” Kanako said nonchalantly.
“Then your family is really wealthy,” Xu Yang said.
One of those things costs over a million.
“Is it expensive?” Kanako had never inquired about the price.
“Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Lila Nestor.
I can wield the Witch’s Power, provide proper services, and I stand by Xu Yang’s side,” Lila declared, “Beyond that, I regret I cannot disclose more.”
Lila stood close to Xu Yang, which only increased Farosa’s hostility.
She would not allow another woman to be that near Xu Yang.
Farosa raised her hand aiming at Lila; she had had coffee and wasn’t in the mood to indulge anyone.
“Magic Power in the environment is surging,” Lila, with Super Perception, detected the danger and drew her gun quickly, “You can bet on who will be faster.”
“You think a new type of iron tube from a Witch Hunter will defeat me?” Farosa wasn’t very clear about guns.
“Skin age over 1000 years,” Lila instantly ascertained Farosa was not a modern character, “Why is an Ancient Witch here?”
“You!” Farosa detested being exposed, and the digit 1000 was particularly irritating to her, making her feel like some old witch.
“That’s enough,” Xu Yang interjected, “Don’t argue in front of me.”
“You’re just encouraging them to fight behind your back,” Kanako laughed.
“You don’t understand,” Xu Yang murmured under his breath.
I wish they would both keep their distance from me, but I’m certain at least one will stick by my side.
“An Ancient Witch?” Cui Junyou was intrigued.
Nidelaide also heard but didn’t dare to speak.
