Cyber Era Witch-Chapter 65 - 48 Death
65: Chapter 48 Death
65 -48 Death
Kanako’s whole body stiffened as she lowered her head, sitting in her seat, unsure of what to do.
Xu Yang could only silently sigh.
Although Kanako’s feelings were important, there were more critical matters to handle now.
“Brother, for the next part, please step aside.” Considering that what followed was all confidential, Xu Yang first excluded Zuo Hongchen, who did not belong to this team.
“Okay.” The events of the entire day had exhausted Zuo Hongchen; he had never been so tired in his life.
He left the shuttle machine and wandered off to a distance.
The others had various thoughts about Xu Yang and Kanako’s true identities, one a corporate outcast, and the other a scion of a distinguished family.
However, the urgent situation at hand meant they could only keep their thoughts to themselves.
“Senior, I and Rosya would never betray you,” Li Xiaomin said hastily, seeing the situation as an opportunity to pledge loyalty.
“It’s okay,” Xu Yang shook his head, “Just don’t overthink it.”
After seeing Zuo Hongchen off, Xu Yang first turned to look at Lila’s severed left arm.
Lila seemed especially calm, as if she was at ease as long as Xu Yang was safe.
This bond made Xu Yang empathize deeply with her loss.
“Restore her arm,” Xu Yang whispered to Farosa, “Please.”
“Not her!
Anyone but her is fine!” Farosa’s face was filled with hatred, “Ask me to save anyone else, just not that damned Lila Nestor!”
“Now is not the time to hold a grudge,” Xu Yang persuaded, “Hurry up.”
“Lila!” Farosa angrily confronted Lila, “Remember my great kindness!”
“It’s just the master’s command,” Lila retorted coldly, “Don’t forget what you’ve done yourself!
Don’t forget the origin of all this!”
Farosa was taken aback.
Indeed, it was she who had intentionally led Kanako away from Xu Yang at the beginning, resulting in Kanako’s current behavior.
If she had let Kanako find Xu Yang from the start and communicate properly, the situation would have been a thousand times better by now.
Seeing Xu Yang’s scrutinizing gaze, Farosa especially did not want him to know the truth, fearing his dislike for her.
For the first time, Farosa felt that fear of being disliked by others…
If it had been the past her, she would have laughed scornfully at this sentiment.
“I’m sorry.” With a wave of her hand, Farosa released the Law of Recovery, restoring Lila’s arm to its prior state.
Xu Yang leaned out from the shuttle machine’s door and gazed into the distance, taking a glance at the arm and fragments that had been broken off and left on the ground where Lila had been, only to find that they had all disappeared without a trace.
This also seemed to be part of the distortion of reality.
If the damaged part was restored by magic power, the previously destroyed fragments would also vanish, returning to the places where they were restored.
The people inside the shuttle machine were very concerned about Pan Ruiyi’s condition.
“So this is a member of the Riot Control Mobile Unit,” Li Xiaomin excitedly said, “I’ve only ever seen them in the news before.”
“How scary,” Rosya teased as well.
“You two little brats…” Pan Ruiyi could never have imagined that one day she would be mocked by humans who were not yet fully mature.
Xu Yang took a deep breath.
“Pan Ruiyi,” he said, “I hope you understand one thing, I am already dead.”
“What?” Pan Ruiyi frowned, “What are you talking about?”
“What nonsense are you talking about!” Farosa exclaimed in surprise, “Why are you dead?”
“This is the right choice.” Only Lila nodded in agreement, “One must use death to erase the warrant from the record.”
“You come to Aizu City,” Xu Yang explained, “and find my body.
That’s what you need to go back and tell them.”
“…then the company and the Alliance won’t chase after you anymore,” Pan Ruiyi pondered, “but why should I do this for you.”
“Because of Kanako,” Xu Yang said, “You just said Kanako could help you with promotions, pay raises, vacations, right?”
“It’s Kanako’s family,” Pan Ruiyi said, “—so that’s it, an exchange.”
“I’m sorry, Kanako,” Xu Yang nodded to Kanako, “To erase my past crimes, I must ‘die,’ that is, become theoretically deceased.”
“I understand.” Kanako sighed, “Everything started because of me…
I must do this.”
“Can you really do it?” Pan Ruiyi was curious.
“Yes…” Kanako nodded softly, “…I’ll talk to my family, they’ll agree, they’ve also…
been looking for me for a long time, they’ll thank you.”
“Take Kanako back to her family,” Xu Yang said, “With a level 100 Special Protection Card, Kanako’s family is absolutely one of the top tycoons of the Archipelago Continent.
With their help, you can get whatever you want.”
“It’s not just ‘tycoon.'” Pan Ruiyi glanced at Kanako, “If I’m not mistaken, her mother is Noriko Honma, her father should be Takeshi Kojima.”
Noriko Honma, a core member of the Xisheng Investment Group.
Even as Xu Yang had vaguely guessed about Kanako’s family before, he had already assessed the tycoons of the Archipelago Continent in his mind, but it turned out to be this woman at the peak of power.
As the so-called Xisheng Investment Group, it is the intercontinental financial capital hidden behind all the giant corporations; if the giant corporations are the glittering billboards in the forefront, then these behemoth capitals are the real support behind them.
Indeed, as Pan Ruiyi said, from the moment Kanako was born, her destiny was doomed to be anything but ordinary.
Even if she ran away because of her nature and hobbies, the moment had come to return to her roots.
Having her true identity revealed by Pan Ruiyi, Kanako could no longer hold back her sorrow and tears broke through her eyes, overpowering all other emotions.
She didn’t want to leave her companions on the shuttle machine, didn’t want to return to ‘that’ home, didn’t want to face her mother, didn’t want to see her fierce and domineering siblings again, didn’t want to work, didn’t want to be pushed.
The only game he was passionate about was regarded as the world’s most shameful obsession in that household.
All was lost.
Kanako kept wiping away her tears as she lowered her head and ran outside to the shuttle machine.
“You say some rich people are just like that,” Cui Junyou scoffed, “dramatically sickening.”
“But she genuinely likes us, genuinely enjoys playing games,” Nidelaide stood up, “Her nature suits here…”
“Suits for suffering here?
Waiting to die?” Cui Junyou continued to complain, “Everyone is dying to be Honma Noriko’s husband or child, not to mention Xisheng, where countless people every year fight tooth and nail to become programmers and investment consultants for Xisheng.
She could have been Xisheng’s princess, yet she was willing to come here to feed the rats.”
“Enough,” Xu Yang interrupted the argument, “Pan Ruiyi, Kanako will help you, but on one condition, that you declare my death to the company and the Alliance.”
“You want nothing?” Pan Ruiyi stared at Xu Yang intently, “You will be erased from the Corporate Alliance records; from any standpoint, you will become a person who doesn’t exist.
You won’t be able to register a company, fly on planes, shop online, or bind a cash card.”
The “archive” of the Corporate Alliance is the most important information that proves a person’s existence, bound to one’s biological information and impossible to fake.
Even the most sophisticated false identities can only function for a brief time and are ultimately ineffective.
Once Xu Yang was declared dead, most avenues in the world would close to him, no company or service would be open to a non-existent person.
“Everything else is negotiable, cash card, huh?
One is enough,” Xu Yang nodded, “This is a chance for me to completely sever ties with the past.”
Xu Yang was no longer alone, he could handle the consequences of this action, and death would even free him from his most significant trouble—the pursuit of the Corporate Alliance.
“Hmph…
I never thought I’d be the one to do this for you in the end,” Pan Ruiyi yelled toward Kanako outside, “Hey!
Did you hear him?
You will help me switch positions, apply for a vacation for me, a vacation!
Do you understand?
I want lots and lots of vacations!”
Kanako did not respond, and her sobbing could be faintly heard.
“Pan Ruiyi has blood on her hands from countless people,” Cui Junyou still couldn’t bring himself to feel any affection for the Battle Witch of the Corporate Alliance.
“Don’t provoke me,” Pan Ruiyi was seething with anger.
“Either way, she can help me erase the past,” Xu Yang said, “Make it so that I died at Number 26 Highland.”
Asa Katsuragi thought about the thing Nakano Osamu had shown her that day, and when she discovered Xu Yang on the bounty list, she was almost shocked stiff.
Fortunately, now that Xu Yang had faked his death, the company would no longer pursue a dead man.
She went outside to comfort Kanako.
Inside the cabin, Pan Ruiyi weighed the pros and cons and found this approach feasible.
“Fine, I’ve fallen into your hands, so let it be your one big windfall,” Pan Ruiyi snorted, “Since we have an agreement, let me go now!”
“There’s one last thing,” Xu Yang said, “There’s still a risk.
Kanako might help you, but you could fail to keep your promise and sell me out to the company instead.”
“That would be inevitable,” Pan Ruiyi provoked, “What do you think?
You wouldn’t expect me to let you get away with such an action without retribution.”
“There are more secretive matters we need to take care of, involving some ancient secrets,” Xu Yang turned to look at the others, “…please temporarily leave the shuttle machine, I’m very sorry, this isn’t to say I don’t trust you, I guarantee this is for everyone’s safety.”
“Let’s go, let’s go,” Cui Junyou waved his hand dismissively, “Even if things go south, you couldn’t possibly go back to being the company’s dog, right?”
“I won’t,” Xu Yang said with a bitter smile.
Among us, Old Cui is uniquely prejudiced against the company.
“Not even me?
I understand,” Lila said.
It seemed to her that Xu Yang wanted only Farosa and Pan Ruiyi to stay.
“Now you know who ranks higher, huh?” Farosa was once again full of arrogance.
“Fine… you stay too,” Xu Yang held back Lila, for with Lila’s perception, there were no secrets that could be kept from her anyway.
Lila gave Farosa a triumphant look and proceeded to completely seal the shuttle machine’s cabin door and windows.
Inside, all was dimmed except for the faint glow of some machinery lights.
“Show me what you’ve got already!” Pan Ruiyi urged.
“Summoning Oath,” Xu Yang signaled to Farosa.
Farosa took the oath very seriously, nodding solemnly as she began to chant the ancient secret information, a language shared among a few tribes and the Mystics.
The light was devoured, darkness enveloped the cabin, and then golden glyphs appeared out of nowhere, with two markings rotating on them, one resembling a cat and the other a bird.
“Through this ritual,” Farosa whispered, “you will become one of The Indisputable, sharing our fates and profits, becoming our ally, unable ever to betray.”
“Why are there little animals?” Pan Ruiyi was curious, “What kind of projector is this?”
“This is a ‘Miracle,’ a power inherited from the gods and the Ancient Mystics, forgotten by the witches of this generation,” Farosa murmured, “Touch it, and you will encounter the animal that fits your temperament the most.”
Pan Ruiyi had never heard of this so-called miracle, but she reached out to touch the glowing oath.
Her fate, witnessed by the Forest Master, bound her to the other two, and the third marking of the oath began to take shape, slowly forming an animal.
A dog.
“Why am I a dog!” Pan Ruiyi exploded in anger.
Xu Yang observed carefully; it was a ferocious dog, its tail wagging, or rather, it seemed more like a wolf.
“The embodiment of loyalty,” Farosa placed her finger on Pan Ruiyi’s forehead, “Pan Ruiyi, I aim to rebuild the Witch Council in this dreary and twisted age.
Swear fealty to me, become the first knight under my command!”
