Ran Xueyi stared at the three men standing before the metal bars before her. Their gazes also landed on her, filling their eyes with sparks of surprise and wonder. They were wondering how she woke up so soon and how her spirit wasn't broken.

The drug they injected into her was potent enough to keep her unconscious for a few days, finishing their goal when she finally woke up.

"It would have helped if we had Dormyraxin. But we couldn't even secure it when we embarked on the cruise." The bespectacled man sighed, lamenting on how they're actions were now restricted after reports of their movements.

No one responded to him, feeling similarly disappointed.

Not only did they not secure Dormyraxin, a drug that had banned after reports of patients remaining fully conscious while their bodies were locked in a waking paralysis for hours, they were unable to get enough guns and bullets and drugs due to a timely military inspection, which forced them to abandon the truckloads of their things on the dock.

What was strange was how the military suddenly conducted an inspection, and although they weren't obvious about it, it looked like they were targeting the cruise ship they were on.

Fortunately, one of the guests on the cruise ship was a government official, letting the ship go before another military inspection made their round to them.

Still, because of this interference, the time of the ship's departure was an hour late.

With a vicious grin on his thick lips, the executive said, "This wasn't what I envisioned when I thought of how we'll meet again. Nevertheless, I am still pleased to finally meet an old friend. Can you still remember me, Estella?"

Being called with that name, Ran Xueyi flinched and glaringly looked at him. Although it wasn't a name unknown to anyone who knew Ran Xueyi's celebrity name internationally back in the day, she still didn't like it coming out of this man's mouth.

"What's wrong?" the executive leaned even closer. "Have you forgotten about me? That's not good…"

To be honest, she really couldn't remember him. She barely even remembered the past with Evgenia, only seeing bits of it like a flashback. So, how could she remember this unknown man?

"You…" the executive ground his molars tightly before releasing a sigh. "Fine. I guess I have to jog your memory a bit. I bet you wouldn't be able to deny who I am after seeing this."

The man lifted a hand over his mask. As he peeled it off his face, the two people who came with him immediately turned their heads away, as if afraid to see anything that could probably cost them their lives.

But the man didn't take his eyes off Ran Xueyi, lifting the mask off his face completely.

Under the mask, the skin that should have been smooth and complemented his handsome face was riddled with patches of uneven skin. His eyes sunken, no, the skin or lack of it made it look like his eyes were sunken.

Just that spot beneath the mask would make anyone's skin shiver, as they recalled the lifelike figurines in their science class.

It was a terrifying sight. Even Ran Xueyi couldn't stop her eyes from shaking upon seeing it.

But it was enough for her to recall a part of her memories.

The man chuckled. "So, you remembered?"

Ran Xueyi took a breath and nodded. Although she hadn't recovered everything, she still remembered who he was.

"That's great." Lu Chengyu covered the burned scars on his face with the mask again and slowly stood up. "Then, you shouldn't think that what I will do to you will be unfair, right?"
