Damned Healer-Chapter 123: They Failed
Chapter 123: They Failed
Rhea used her contacts and paid everything she had to learn the details. It had been a secret mission that ended in "success."
They managed to infiltrate the Solar Federation Empire and completely wipe out its most secret prison. All the informants, all the spies, and some other important stuff were wiped out in one go.
They used the supreme artifact from the Red River Pact clan, causing massive destruction with no chance of defense. That mission was called: Honor of the Heroes.
The people from the New Arcadia Empire who’d been captured were now free from suffering and torture. That freedom came with death, of course.
And among the confirmed names of the dead in that place... was that poor man she loved, the one who only ever wanted to live in peace with his family.
Back to the present.
Everyone in the room besides Leander was hearing the story for the first time—and they were shocked. The Empires weren’t official enemies, they didn’t fight open wars or try to destroy each other. But the greed and hunger to be the biggest still existed.
Spying, theft, and major behind-the-scenes events were happening all the time. None of it ever became public and it didn’t affect normal humans—honestly, even among High Humans, only a few knew any of this stuff.
When Rhea found out, Damon had just awakened, and Leander was still just a kid.
She swallowed her rage and pain toward the Empire. She didn’t just hate the one he was born into—she hated them all.
Neither of them had ever wanted to hurt anyone. They just wanted to be together.
Why did life have to be so cruel?
No one’s safe from pain and suffering, no matter who they are. As for her... she didn’t want revenge—she just didn’t want anyone else to ever go through what she went through.
And then, her second son awakened. Around the same time, Damon took over the clan’s leadership, and she felt like it was time to tell them both the whole truth.
That’s as far as Leander knew. His mom had promised him back then that everything was in the past, and his dad had just wanted them to live a peaceful life, without stirring trouble.
But secretly, she and her oldest son started moving the pieces.
Her husband never had any blessing related to investigation—that was just a convenient excuse back then.
But Damon did have that kind of blessing—at a really high level. He’d developed it even before he knew the truth, like fate had already decided that was the path he’d take.
Everything was built slowly. They gathered information on all the Empires and gained allies in each of the six.
New Arcadia still hadn’t figured it out. But every single Empire on Earth had been failing their missions over the past few months. All of it was orchestrated by Rhea and her son from the shadows.
They carefully picked out cruel people from the top clans of each Empire. Then, they made a "deal" with them. As payment, they gave them a powerful artifact—with a little hidden gift inside.
That group of people had all been thoroughly investigated. Every one of them deserved to die in the worst way imaginable. And when those six were finally selected for missions close to each other, the plan was set in motion.
When they used the artifact, they had no idea they were poisoning everyone around them. So they died—and failed their missions.
Rhea’s goal was to make all the Empires suffer their first penalty. Then, she’d use her contacts with other planets, and those planets could take advantage of the situation.
Slowly, she planned to bring down Earth’s Empires.
Yeah... truth is, she was betraying all of Earth too.
Her goal was to force everyone on Earth to unite if they wanted to survive. Faced with an enemy from outside the planet, the rules and power games between the Empires would have to change.
In the end, the big clans from different Empires would be forced to work together on S-rank missions.
When humans go through tough stuff together and survive, they tend to form deep bonds. So stronger relationships would naturally start to grow.
The Empires wouldn’t be able to keep their old rules for long, or things would keep blowing up. It wouldn’t take long before they allowed certain people to stay together—even if it meant sacrificing a lot. What happened to her wouldn’t happen to someone else in the future.
Everything seemed to be going just fine.
But what she—and no one else besides the Empire—knew was that the Red River Pact clan had two supreme artifacts, not just one.
Of course the Empire wasn’t gonna let a single clan have that much power. This second one was more strategic—it didn’t boost combat power.
It was a supreme artifact with a terrifying investigation ability. In certain situations, it could track soul connections between people.
All the key members of the clan were connected to the artifact. It was like a piece of their soul was stored there, ready to be used in an emergency. And when the missions failed, they burned through a ton of resources to figure out what had happened—if something shady was going on.
It was like an invisible string appeared, linking to another person or place. Only solid, real-life connections were revealed—even if they couldn’t tell exactly what or how.
They saw that Rhea and Damon were tied to the soul of the dead group’s leader.
After that, they captured both of them and used the artifact again. This time, it showed that they were also connected to other Empires.
The evidence was solid and clear, even if the details were fuzzy. All they had to do was cash in a few favors with the other Empires and use those soul links to investigate the people around them. Everything became obvious fast—tons of proof.
The fact that they just got executed was actually lucky—if they’d found out they were betraying all of Earth, not just one Empire, things would’ve blown up way harder.
As for Raon... even with that supreme artifact, they got nothing. Strangely, after a few days, every trace of Raon vanished. It was like he’d been erased from existence.
And actually, when Darian heard that, he understood why. He’d killed Raon completely with that rune—physically and spiritually. That artifact had limits—it could only be used on people who still existed.
Rhea had pure karma and lived a long life. She saw all the filth hiding behind the powerful people on Earth. What she did went way beyond something personal. She and her son risked everything to challenge the elite. But... they failed.
In the training universe, people’s mindset was all about leveling up and chasing merits. Everyone outside your summoner group was your enemy, fighting for the same resources.
But on Earth, the High Humans from the Empires lived super far apart, basically forced to avoid forming any bonds. On the surface, it looked like they were just competing hard. But in the shadows, that "competition" was getting more and more intense.
It wouldn’t take long before the Empires started looking for allies off-world—and honestly, that was already happening. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Or maybe they’d even start pulling strings in the training universe to get each other killed—which Darian already knew was happening.
In the end, Rhea wanted Earth to unite, even if only partially. Her intentions were pure and real—just like she was.
Darian let out a heavy sigh. Wasn’t he trying to do almost the same thing... just on a scale a billion times bigger?
