Death Guns in the Higher World-Chapter 23: The girl who became a Mercenary 2
Chapter 23 - The girl who became a Mercenary 2
Then, with a heavy thud, she landed and seized Galaal's head, slamming it onto the table.
Bam!
The table splintered under the force, sending cards and coins flying into the air.
"...!"
The guards, startled by the sudden intrusion of the girl, instinctively reached for their weapons at their waists.
"Hehehe!" she chuckled, a smile spreading across her face. It was clear she was about to revel in what was to come—the thrill of battle, the excitement of toying with her opponents. There was nothing more exhilarating than this; it was precisely why she loved bounty hunting.
They moved, but to her, they were painfully slow.
Everything around her seemed to unfold in slow motion. She stepped on the hand of a man reaching for a spear on the ground, the sound of bones breaking echoing with a loud crack. Grinning, she spun around on her heel.
Next, she stomped on the back of another man's hand as he tried to draw a sword from his waist, and swiftly twisted the wrist of a third man who lunged at her with a dagger, snapping it with ease. She was lightning fast.
Each attempt to draw their weapons was met with a split-second delay, and that was all the time she needed. One by one, she subdued them. There was no need for her katana—just a swing to the chin or a punch to the face was sufficient.
"Ugh..."
Galaal, who had been slammed into the table, slowly lifted his head. By the time he regained his senses, the three bodyguards beside him were already sprawled on the ground, their eyes rolled back in defeat.
"..."
The moment Galaal's eyes locked onto hers, his pupils trembled as he stared into her emerald gaze, sharp as the deadliest steel. Just as he tried to turn and flee in haste:
Swoosh!
A throwing dagger embedded itself into Galaal's calf.
It was a blade she had thrown, enhanced with the Wind element for speed and stealth.
"Argh!"
Galaal collapsed to the ground.
Grinding his teeth, he turned his head to glare at the mysterious girl and shouted,
"You've messed with the wrong person, miss!"
Sweating profusely, he pulled something from his clothes and gripped it tightly.
Beep!
A loud noise echoed through the alley, a signal to summon his scattered colleagues and hired guards.
"You've entered our territory; you're dead now that I've called for reinforcements! My brother Kabala is coming, hehehe!" Galaal laughed, confidence radiating from him.
The girl massaged her forehead in resignation.
"How predictable," she replied with a smile.
As Galaal looked her, an uneasy sense of foreboding washed over him.
"You're making my job easier," she muttered.
After all, Kabala was also on her list of targets.
Hearing the footsteps approaching from all sides, she drew her katana. With a swift motion, she unsheathed it and narrowed her eyes, ready for what was to come.
It took a few minutes for Galaal, the wanted criminal, to realize that something had gone horribly wrong.
For the girl, who had faced countless adventures, each more perilous than the last, these men were nothing more than easy prey. In the alleys where they lurked, they stood no chance against her.
Five minutes.
That was all it took for her to subdue the thugs and toss Kabala, the wanted criminal who had been orchestrating their actions from a distance, next to Galaal.
"That makes two," she murmured as she tied them up.
Wanted criminal Kabala. Wanted criminal Galaal.
"If I had known it would be this easy, I should have taken every wanted poster available."
In the next few minutes, the slums were turned upside down as she tracked down two more wanted criminals, swiftly dispatching any who dared to stand in her way.
Her movements were fluid and precise, honed by experience. Each confrontation was over in an instant; she disarmed them with ease, leaving them bewildered and helpless.
The chaos drew attention, but the onlookers were too stunned to intervene. Whispers of her prowess spread like wildfire—this mysterious girl was a force to be reckoned with.
Within moments, the two additional criminals lay at her feet, bound and defeated. She paused for a moment to catch her breath, surveying the scene around her. The slums, once a den of lawlessness, now felt eerily quiet, the air thick with the aftermath of her swift justice, well she was having fun nothing to do with justice, she was moving with a goal in mind, everything was for achieving it, she didn't forget to have fun in the middle of this.
With her newfound captives secured, she couldn't help but smile. "Four down, and plenty more to go," she said to herself, the thrill of the hunt still coursing through her veins. The day was young, and her mission was far from over.
Two hours later, she had captured seven criminals and made her way back to the guild. The Mercenary Guild building was just as majestic as the Adventurer's Guild.
She pulled back her hood, revealing her lustrous black hair styled in a slicked-back micro bob cut. Her face was flawless, resembling the rarest gem—a true beauty. Most mercenaries in the guild recognized this mysterious girl, and no one dared to cross her; those who did often found themselves in the hospital, having lost something precious. She effortlessly dragged the seven men to her usual counter , where a receptionist with a presentable face, she had a brown hair and dark brown eyes awaited her—Betty. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"I'm back, Betty."
"Hah! Welcome back, Saeko! No one works as quickly as you do when it comes to bounty hunting. Who would have thought you'd rise from the lowest Yellow rank to Red-rank in just half a year? You're truly something,"
Betty exclaimed, verifying the identities of the criminals Saeko had brought in. Upon confirming them, 70,000 gold was deposited into Saeko's bank account, just like usual.
Saeko shrugged at Betty's words.
"What's your next goal? Another bounty hunt, or maybe some monster clearing?"
"Well, maybe both. I need to reach the next rank quickly, and the one after that. My ultimate goal is to take over the guild," Saeko declared as she approached the giant floating board displaying various missions, the same system used by the Adventurer's Guild.
Betty shook her head at Saeko's bold declaration. "Yeah, yeah, I wish you luck. Maybe you'll give me more days off if you become the guild master."
Their usual banter had become familiar to most mercenaries. It was just another day in the promising life of a girl who had become a mercenary. Though few took her seriously, she genuinely intended to take over the guild. It was a matter of survival, and above all, a way to support her man, Alexander; he would undoubtedly appreciate this gift.
