Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 193
Chapter 193: Chapter 193
While Aaron was happily checking his new status, he got a message from the academy. He clicked it open to find that he was being summoned, not just him, all first-year students are being summoned to the auditorium, early the next morning.
"Why were they summoning all first-year students? It’s not like it is the end of the first year. It is almost the end of the first year, but there is still time. Did something happen?" Aaron muttered to himself, trying to figure out the reason.
No matter what, he couldn’t think of any guaranteed reason why they summoned everyone. A lot of reasons came to mind, but without full information, at least without partial information of what was happening, he couldn’t come up with any conclusion regarding this.
"Aah, no need to stress myself about this. I can find out what’s happening in the morning anyway. Let’s go to sleep, no need to stress my brain unnecessarily", Aaron thought as he laid back on the bed, drifting to sleep.
---
In the morning, every first-year student arrived at the auditorium at the prescribed time.
A few minutes later, a staff member from the academy appeared on the platform and started to speak.
"I know everyone should be wondering why you are all summoned. There is a reason for that. You should already be aware that third and fourth year students would take missions outside to earn more credits, but not the first and second year students".
"This policy was being amended. Now, even second-year students can participate in the outside missions. The reason was that the final-year students would be busy with something else. So, in order for proper flow of resources, second years can now take missions to go outside".
Hearing those words, the students started to murmur.
The rule of 2-2 was established so that no naive idiots would die outside in the world, trusting someone they shouldn’t. Also, in the first two years, the academies would drill into them the knowledge of most things that were necessary to survive not only the monsters but the most dangerous creatures when out in the wild, humans.
Greed in humans can create monsters dangerous than monsters that roam the wild.
If a common awakened dies out there, what the alliance might have lost would be just a soldier, but still it was a loss, as if their death was prevented, they could have saved a lot of other humans when monsters invade human settlements.
The damage to the alliance would be even worse if a talented one dies. So, to protect a talent with a naive mind, the academies were established, and there are even books about human greed, detailing how to read other faces and actions, rather than listening to their words.
Now that the rule was being changed, that made everyone wondered about the reason.
Though the staff member can hear the voice of murmurs, he ignored them and continued to speak what he came to say, "Though not everyone would take missions to go outside, many would do so. This means there would be gaps in the internal workings of the academy. So, the academy is urging that the first years fill those gaps as much as possible".
"One should know, though the academy acts Carefree with how students go on with their studies, but in certain situations, that won’t be the case, and this is one such situation. If the gaps left by the second-year students were not filled, then the academy would assign who would fill those gaps".
"That’s all everyone", the staff member said and disappeared without answering any questions that the students kept raising.
WIth the man gone, the students could do nothing but leave too, but the talks about this matter didn’t cede.
---
"I think things were turning bad outside", Erika spoke to Aaron as they were leaving the auditorium.
Though the staff didn’t declare everything, the students here are not stupid, especially if they hail from powerful families, who have some inside information.
Aaron was silent for a second before responding, "You were right. If they were involving even second-year students now, though it was not compulsory to participate, then things should be worse. They may even involve us in whatever was happening out there. So, we should improve our levels as soon as possible".
Erika nodded her head in agreement. She understood from the vague reveals from her father and from what just transpired in the auditorium, that something big is happening out there, and it is no longer safe as it has been before.
The most likely scenario to deploy fourth-year students was if there was a calamity and they were short on personnel, but to direct second-year students to fill the gaps for the fourth-year students in the academic missions, that means, whatever the fourth-year students would be involved in is not a short-term thing, but long-term.
What Aaron said was right. With getting out of hand, they need to level up as fast as possible. Only this way can they be safe. Strength is, after all, the ultimate currency for life in this world.
After leaving the auditorium, they went to the dungeon hall and entered different dungeons of their own choice to level up. Aaron’s level was very high, and he couldn’t enter low-level dungeons to level up anymore.
Erika saw the choice of Aaron but said nothing. Though he didn’t say anything, she started to have doubts regarding his strength, which started after the tournament, and after they started to have a relationship, these doubts cemented. She became sure about this, but said nothing.
Everyone has secrets, and they are entitled to that. As long as those secrets are something that can damage their relationship, she doesn’t care about them. She believed that when Aaron felt he was ready, he would share them with her. Until then, she can only wait.
Aaron, too, felt that Erika might have doubts, but he was not in a position to tell her his secrets. If by chance those secrets spill, then his life and his parents’ lives would be in danger.
He couldn’t take a chance with that, but he decided that he wouldn’t veil his actions as much as he would when he was with others.
