Chapter 87: Chapter 87

Once Aaron stepped into the portal, he felt a tearing sensation. This was not like the dungeons. The dungeons are a part of the world, but ruins, they are a part of the world and at the same time are not.

Ruins are pieces of destroyed worlds that drifted here and got attached to this world. Unlike dungeons, they didn’t originate here.

So, everything would be different. Even the portals that lead to the ruins are not as safe as the portals that lead into dungeons.

Luckily, the ruins where the competition was being held in was a place that had a stabilised portal as it had almost fused with this world, making it a part of this world, rather than a part of another world at this point.

Even if that is, there is still discomfort while passing through, and that is what Aaron experienced. It was only for a moment before he entered the Undead Ruins.

Aaron breathed in a little, "It feels cosy", he muttered.

From what he read about the undead ruins, this was not supposed to be how he should be feeling, but it is. What he was feeling was quite the opposite of what he was supposed to.

"Hmm, maybe because I am a Death Mage, or it’s probably because of the Bloodline and Physique that I recently got", Aaron muttered to himself.

Though he only guessed it a little, he was right about that. Death-related professionals wouldn’t feel the same kind of discomfort that others would feel.

Also, with the new improvements he got, he would actually feel as if he were at home in lands like these.

"Hunting for the Blue and Red tokens would be stupid. I should aim for the Black tokens. Not only would I get the tokens, but there would also be experience gains. I need to reach Rank-6 to deter most enemies away".

"Once I reach Rank-6, I can make it possible for my parents to reach higher ranks easily. They are not combat professionals. They are cooks. So, they need food ingredients to reach higher ranks, which I can provide as long as I am strong".

"Even if they can’t fight, as long as they reach a higher rank, it would mean that they would have higher attribute value, which would make it difficult for most attackers", Aaron muttered to himself as he decided on what to do.

He immediately started to Sprint away to the Inner region, where the Black Tokens are present. Along the way, he stumbled upon undead monsters that carried Blue and Red tokens, which he didn’t ignore. He easily squashed them and collected the tokens.

---

It didn’t take long before Aaron found the undead monsters with Black tokens. Once he got them in his sight, he slowed down and summoned his skeleton and ghost army.

There are a total of 300 of them in total. So, it can be considered as a small army.

Once he saw the Black tokens, he unleashed his small army upon them. They easily started to plough through the monsters.

---

Later that night...

By night, Aaron was able to kill a lot of monsters. Unlike when he goes through a dungeon, where he would stop by noon, this was a full day harvest.

A lot of monsters were killed, and he gained a lot of black tokens before the end of the night. Not only that, his level also increased due to the high experience that he gained.

Aaron didn’t go far into the Inner region. He stayed by the borders, or at least that’s what he assumed, as there are no actual borders.

He assumed that based on the level of the monsters that he faced. He couldn’t actually see the levels, but based on how they fought his summons, he estimated the levels of the monsters.

The highest that he faced should be below 65, or at least that’s what he assumed the highest one that he faced was. If he went to the parts that are considered the proper inner area, then he could level up faster and would gain a lot of FSPs and SPs, but he didn’t, as he was still in the early 60s regarding his levels.

Though his attributes have already crossed what a level 150 awakener would have, his true strength is still not comparable to a Rank-3 awakener, as they have improved their skills to a higher rank and also have a lot of battle experience.

It was the same with the monsters. Also, there is a chance that he would face much higher-ranked monsters than he was supposed to. There were no actual boundaries, which prevented the monsters from moving from one area to another.

The outer, inner and core regions were just human classifications to have a better understanding, not actual divisions. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Though that was the case, before he left the ruins, Aaron intended to face at least a level 80 to 90 monster.

This was because the chances of finding any treasures in those areas are higher than in other areas. He wanted to get some undead treasures from these ruins, which are considered very rare outside.

He is a Death Mage, and those treasures would be useful for him, but the paths to obtain them are very few. Most of them are inaccessible or too costly for him.

So, these ruins are the best place for him to get his hands on such treasures.

---

He found a cave to rest for the night, and only then did he check his gains.

It was said that the undead would have triple the power at night when compared to day. So, it’s best to avoid them at night, and that’s why Aaron found a hideout for himself.

Of course, the number of undead that appear at night is more than what appears during the day. If you can squash them away in a strike, then no need to fear, but Aaron is not an idiot to think that he could do so at this point.

He can defeat a large number, even in hundreds, as long as he puts in the work, but no one should exert themselves to a point where they can’t make any more moves, no matter where they were, not even in places where they feel safe.

It is dangerous to do so.

Moreover, Aaron was sure with the gains he attained on the first day alone, he was sure that he can attain even more by the end of the competition. So, there was no need to put himself in danger.

This is why he found a safe hideout, ate the food he brought and went to sleep.
