"I returned because I missed you!" Gu Qingxin reached out and hugged her mother’s arm.

"You’re all grown up, but still acting like a child."

"No matter how old I am, I’m still your daughter," Gu Qingxin replied naturally.

"Go ahead and arrange the flowers. Knowing you would be home, I specially brought them for you."

"Thank you mom, oh, I bought a fish, how does braised fish sound for dinner tonight?"

"Sounds good, let me get things ready." Lin Yin went to the kitchen.

"You’ve had a long day, I can do it, you should rest."

"Arranging flowers is not tiring at all. I’ve been sitting for too long. I need to get up and move around." Lin Yin went into the kitchen to clean the fish.

Gu Qingxin found a vase and placed the lilies and balloonflowers that her mother brought into it. She planned to take her dress back to her room and left.

As she entered the room, she quickly shut the door to see Beiming Han flipping through her photo album again.

"You should leave now, really. My mom can’t find you here," Gu Qingxin said.

"Oh." Beiming Han stood up and headed for the door.

Gu Qingxin quickly put the vase down, pulled him back and asked, "What are you doing? My mom is out there. If you leave like this, she’ll see you."

"Then how do you want me to leave?" Beiming Han turned to look at her.

"The window, aren’t you the best at climbing out of windows?" Gu Qingxin walked over to the window and opened it.

"..."

"I’m afraid of heights." Beiming Han said.

"..."

"So how did you get here!"

"I didn’t feel it when I climbed up because I didn’t have to look down, but I definitely can’t climb down." Beiming Han sat back down on her bed.

Gu Qingxin was speechless. Nobody would believe his excuse, yet he looked so innocent.

"Qingxin, come over here," Lin Yin called out.

"Alright, I’ll be there soon," Gu Qingxin replied. She then anxiously said, "Stay in my room for now. I’ll ask my mom to rest in her room later so you can leave."

Gu Qingxin had to go out first. Lin Yin had already washed the fish. Gu Qingxin dumped the water into the toilet, returned to the kitchen and said, "Mom, you should rest in your room. I’ll take care of the rest."

"No need, I can do it. You go and rest," Lin Yin replied.

"I do nothing but attend classes every day, I’m not tired at all. You should go rest," Gu Qingxin took the cooking oil from her mother’s hand.

"Qingxin, what’s wrong? Why do you keep telling me to rest?" Lin Yin found her daughter’s behavior strange.

"Uh? Nothing...I’m just worried about you getting sick from exhaustion. I’d be the one heartbroken." Gu Qingxin replied stubbornly, her heart racing with anxiety.

The doorbell rang, and Lin Yin went to answer the door. Gu Qingxin finally let out a sigh of relief.

Gu Qingxin also looked outside to see who it was. When she saw the man standing at the door, she realized it was another one of her mom’s suitors.

Gu Qingxin glanced worriedly at her own bedroom door, wondering what on earth Beiming Han was doing inside. For now, she decided to return to the kitchen to cook the fish.

She poured the oil into the pot, fried the fish until both sides were golden, added the pre-made seasoning, then added hot water and covered the pot.

Now she just had to wait for it to cook.

Lin Yin allowed the man with the last name Xiao into the living room. Gu Qingxin came out and greeted him, then went back to the kitchen to finish cooking.

Whilst washing vegetables, Gu Qingxin couldn’t help but glance outside. She thought Uncle Xiao was quite a nice man. He was handsome, and had a peaceful and polite demeanor. He seemed quite well-matched with her mother.
