Chapter 552 Daddy's Home!

--

Cedric settled all the relevant paperwork he had before he left...

He made sure that the process was clean so that it wouldn't come back and bite him in the ass. After all, this was the Border Patrol Office; it's easy to enter but hard to leave, even for a mere vacation. And even though Cedric's authority, in some ways, surpasses even that of the chancellors and the paragons, his status isn't really official, so he needs to go through the proper process so that there won't be any complications in the future.

Aside from that, Cedric also made sure that everything will be fine even without his presence. He drafted work that will occupy his team for years in a single sitting; he also left them enough instructions to refer to so that they won't disturb his vacation.

With all of this settled, Cedric was ready to leave.

His departure wasn't a huge occasion. If anything, only a handful of people knew about it for now. Cedric also didn't need nor want to make it a big deal. So much so that he didn't even ask for a ship to take him back home, opting to travel back home by himself instead.

Cedric wouldn't have been able to do this before. After all, it took a long time for the transport ship to take him to the northwestern camp from his homeworld. But with the changes in him, the support of his Inner World and Chaos Energy, making his way back on his own was nothing but a casual stroll for him now.

Each step Cedric took warped him forward, breaching great distances with relative ease. Cedric wasn't even trying at all. To him, folding and puncturing space was but a subconscious effort. If he truly went all out, he could've instantly arrived at his homeworld in a single step. He just didn't see a point in doing that since he wasn't in so much of a hurry.

As he passed through several cosmic realms and sectors, Cedric drew the sights in, immersing himself in the natural beauty of the cosmos. And since he's traveling by foot, everything he felt was raw and real, giving him a refreshing sense of freedom and inspiration.

The feeling was incredible, and he relished it. After all, this isn't something he could do every day. It's also for this reason that he decided to take his time instead of hurrying back.

As he traveled and felt the raw cosmic power around him, the Concept Law Embryo within him thrum in activity. This surprised him a bit because he could feel that the embryo was growing faster. Because of this, Cedric slowed down his travel speed even more. He allowed the sensation to continue because he vaguely felt that it would end soon.

And he was right. The sudden growth spurt didn't last long. At most, it went on for an hour or so before ending. However, despite ending so soon, the total growth his Concept Law Embryos had was equivalent to an entire breakthrough, making it worthwhile.

After the growth spurt, a burst of feedback was sent to him. Cedric then felt his insights about the origin of concept laws growing deeper and more intimate. In turn, this made it easier for him to control or infuse his will into the surrounding concept laws to do his bidding.

Once he's done digesting these unexpected gains, Cedric continued on his way. And after a couple more space-warping steps, he arrived before the Solaris Prime Sector, which was located within the Outer Circle of the Alliance.

"Who goes there!?"

An alarmed shout sounded out. Cedric looked over and saw a flash of golden light heading his way. This brought a gentle smile to his face because he knew who this was.

"At ease, Madam. It's me." Cedric chuckled as he saw Roderika's combat stance.

"Oh!" The celestial lady released a relieved sigh. "It's you. My bad, I thought there was an intruder."

"Thank you for your hard work," Cedric politely replied.

"Don't mention it. It's what I have to do; I won't fail to uphold another promise." Roderika smiled back. Though it would seem that she's not interested in talking anymore because she's already disappearing by the time she said this.

No, she isn't dying. She just went back to her temporary home here. Her reluctance to talk might be because she still feels guilty about her negligence during Cedric's breakthrough. Cedric has already let go of that. In fact, he even flourished because of that accident. But it seems that the same couldn't be said for Roderika.

Shaking his head, Cedric took another step forward, which propelled him directly in front of Prime Earth.

'Ah, home.' He muttered inwardly.

Cedric stared at his homeworld just like this for a while. He didn't inspect it deeply or anything. He just admired the appearance of Prime Earth from this point of view.

Taking another step forward, he descended to the world quietly. His arrival didn't alarm anyone or anything. He didn't want to cause a commotion. In fact, it would even be better if nobody aside from his family knew that he's back.

Cedric landed on the Sky Castle, the secret realm he built long ago to serve as their home here.

He noticed several changes in the surroundings since he left; the realm itself was way bigger than before, yet none of it surprised him too much. It would be more surprising to him if there weren't any changes at all, because that would mean that his family stagnated, and that just won't do.

Grrr!!

Another flash of golden light streaked towards him as soon as he landed on the floating island. This light was accompanied by an astonishing heat that almost rivaled that of a sun and a deeply threatening growl.

The light landed in front of him, revealing a creature that had a thick golden mane that behaved like a blazing fire. Its predatory eyes glared at Cedric, and all of its claws were out. The creature also had a pair of large golden wings and was poised to attack at any given moment.

Despite facing the ferocious killing intent of the creature, Cedric wasn't scared at all. If anything, he even smiled approvingly as he witnessed the feral alertness of the creature.

He looked at the creature, then crouched down, still wearing that gentle smile on his face; he said, "Hey, Boy! Long time no see. I missed you. Deep sniff, come on. You'd remember me."

Cedric held out a hand, and the creature, though confused and still wary, did sniff him out. And at that instant, the creature remembered who he was. The claws were retracted, and the threatening temperature disappeared. The creature then leapt at him while whining.

"There he is! Come here! Yes, yes, I missed you too. I'm sorry for leaving you behind."

This creature was none other than Aurelion, the Radiant Sunlion familiar of Cedric, whom he left and tasked with protecting his wives. It had been the guardian creature of this family ever since, but it still held deep affection and loyalty to Cedric, because by all means, Cedric was his father.

"Aurelion? Where are you, boy?"

A voice echoed from behind the castle doors. Cedric, who was hugging the still whining feline in his arms, suddenly stiffened. He gently dropped Aurelion while his eyes remained transfixed at the gates.

Said gates then opened, revealing an ethereal beauty behind.

Seeing her, Cedric's heart started beating wildly. The smile on his face turned even wider, so much so that he looked almost foolish. The fairy who opened the gates discovered him this time. And at first, she squinted and rubbed her eyes, thinking that she might be seeing things.

But when she opened them again, he was still there, and the house pet she was searching for was rubbing its head on his legs.

Realizing that she wasn't just seeing things, her vision turned blurry with tears. Dropping everything she was holding, she turned into a streak of light that shot forward, crashing into him like a comet.

"Oof!"

Cedric didn't mind the force and impact of the crash. He took it head-on and was completely fine since he's tough. Now, though, he found his arms full with a weeping lady and his movement restricted by a tight hug.

"You're back."

"Uh, surprise!?" Cedric jested, earning a jab on his ribs.

Gazing forward, he saw two more fairies who were not looking at him. And just like the first one, they too crashed on him, but he made no efforts to evade.

Now, his hands are even fuller because all of his wives were here, wrapping themselves around him like koalas.

"I'm home," Cedric muttered softly to their ears, inwardly relishing how good it felt to say these words.

Warmth flooded his entire body, one that only his family could ever make him feel.

His words caused his wives to weep even more loudly, but beyond their cries of relief, Cedric understood what they're really trying to say...

'Welcome home.'
