Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking-Chapter 601: Cedric’s Guidance and Legacy
--
Some time passed since the boys came home...
Once again, their father gathered them in a room for a private conversation. And from his expression, it seems that whatever it is he wanted to say was serious.
"Alright, boys. Soon, you'd completely master the Cosmic Furnace Spell. Great work with that by the way." Cedric stated, "What I want to discuss with you now, is what comes next after that."
'Oh, so it turns out to be this.' The boys thought to themselves. Since they're father made a point to gather them here for this important conversation, they figured its wise to listen very carefully.
"I'm sure you've already known what comes after the Grand Solar Level...and that is the Transitional Realm."
"The Transitional Realm is where you'd elevate your entire being in preparation to become a Cosmic Lifeform. The first three stages elevates yours body, the fourth to sixth stages are focused on your energy, and the final three stages were meant for your spirit."
"Your mastery over the Cosmic Furnace Spell and your willpower will be the deciding factors that will determine your chances at reaching the Cosmic Level. It's why I told you to take your time in mastering the Cosmic Furnace Spell. As for your willpower, I've measure it long ago and its enough."
"So, all in all, you have a great chance at reaching the Cosmic Level in this way. All you need is time."
The brothers didn't say anything because they knew their father wasn't done. They too have realized this already, they're just not flaunting it since there's really no reason to.
"But you see, I discovered a different path forward..."
Cedric then proceed to tell the tales of the Ancients; he told them about their history, how they came into being, the wars they waged with each other, their discovery of the void and the peace treaty which is still honored until now, which was also how the alliance came into being.
He told them about their decline and the fallout that happened after that. The boys learned that Wise Dragon Chancellor, the oldest creature in the alliance, was also the last true descendant of the Ancients alive. He told them how he yearned to follow his predecessors' footsteps only to fail time and time again.
"That's when an accident happened during my attempt to breakthrough to the Transitional Realm..."
Cedric also revealed the accident that happened during his breakthrough. He told them how he got so close to never seeing them again and how lucky he was to be able to find a way out, which also led to his discovery of the Ancient Chaos Path.
He told them how he became the director of the research project which allowed others to also tread the path of Ancient Chaos, which will be canonized some time in the future.
"...now, there are two paths for you to choose from. You can either continue with the Transitional Realm, or you can take same path forward as I did, becoming a Void Refinement Path practitioner."
"Know that whatever path it is that you choose to follow, you will have my full support, as always. The decision is up to you, this is your cultivation, after all, not mine."
"Void Refinement." The boys responded in unison not evena beat later, mildly surprising their father.
"Oh? Really?"
"Yes, Dad. Really." Godwyn nodded, "There's not much to discuss, this is your legacy to us. Though not intentional, we still consider it as one, therefore we'll take it."
Cedric was about to say something but Gilderoy beat him to it.
"Yes, Dad, we know. 'No Pressure'. But this isn't a decision we made because we're pressured. The Ancient Chaos Path, as you've implied, was clearly a better way forward for us so why would we not pick it? It's as simple as that."
He then looked at Gerald who just shrugged at him and said: "What they said."
Cedric sighed, "Alright, fine. As soon as you master the Cosmic Furnace Spell, give me a call and I'd take you to the Void Collection Zones so that you can start your breakthroughs."
Deep down, Cedric knew that his kids will make this choice. He was their father, their pride came from him so how can he not tell? Besides, just as Gilderoy said, taking the Ancient Chaos Path forward was better, it's as simple as that.
And yes, Cedric never really thought that his discovery of the Ancient Chaos Path will strictly be his legacy for his family, but it can be considered as one because without him, it wouldn't have been impossible. While some could argue that maybe the Wise Dragon Chancellor can do it, well, yes, maybe. But he definitely can't be better than Cedric, so in the end, Cedric was still the key to everything.
If there's anybody who's opinion truly mattered about this entire project, it would be none other than Cedric himself.
Cedric's hesitation mainly comes from the variables that might happen during his children's breakthrough. Because so far, he's the only human who have reached this stage.
It would've been better if there's someone else who could go first before his sons, so that if an accident occurs, Cedric will be prepared. Alas, there's nobody who qualifies for that just yet.
He also couldn't possibly ask his sons to pause their cultivation for their sake of sacrificing someone else first. That's beneath them, and it would make them very uncomfortable. So, he could only hope that everything goes well.
The Ancient Chaos Project has been optimized throughout the years. Even during its initial stages, so long as one persists and remains careful, there's a very small chance of failing or dying. In fact, everybody who participated on the project so far has succeeded. Some just took more time than others.
So, the chances of his sons failing was actually abysmal. That said, even that abysmal chance still makes Cedric hesitant. He's a parent, after all. It's normal for him to worry about his kids.
Fortunately, it seems that the boys were confident, which made him feel slightly more at ease. He already checked every necessary factor and knew that their qualifications were more tham sufficient already.
'Everything will be fine, I'll make sure of it.'
'If the heavens want to take my sons away from me, then it has to step over my dead body first.'

The Stormrider Brothers were a little surprised that their father was still with them even after three months.
They thought that he'd be gone in a month after returning but it seems that he's on an extended leave.
Well, if they only asked, they'd learn that Cedric basically doesn't have to return to the camps at all. So long as his clone was there, of course.
Speaking of which, the clone was doing very well. Even though it's slightly weaker than Cedric, it doesn't truly matter since it only has to take care of clerical duties around the camp.
Additionally, the clone also received the promotion into Paragon on his behalf. Which, fortunately, nobody seemed to mind since, at this point, most of the Paragons there have been replaced by clones too.
Thanks to Cedric, the Paragons found themselves with too much free time to do what they want. Of course, they're not allowed to cause too much chaos in the alliance. But they are allowed to take care of their personal matters within the limits of the rules' tolerance.
There are a few who chose to enter seclusion instead, sealing themselves away to prevent themselves from interfering with mundane matters. Anyways, so long as they breakthrough to the Primordial Realm, which, most of them were preparing for, they'd be timeless and eternal. They can ignore pretty much everything else that has nothing to do with them.
With Cedric's promotion into a Paragon, Humans now have sufficient qualifications to enter the Inner Circle or even Core Circle of the alliance.
Typically, the qualifications to enter the Inner Circle was strict, even more so for the Core Circle. But of course, there's always an exception. By from the fact that humanity can give birth to a figure like Cedric was more than enough to propel them this far.
But of course, whether to move or not, was not Cedric's decision anymore. It was Godwyn's. He's the current governor, after all.
There are pros and cons to this. One that Godwyn has to deliberate with his team and his brothers. Cedric clearly expressed his intent to abstain from expressing his opinions, which means that he's leaving them to decide on their own.
It's a headache, yes. But it's a good problem to have. Furthermore, this shows Godwyn that his father truly acknowledges his efforts so far, and that he believes in him, so of course he'd continue doing his best. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
