Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 130: Ability Engraved Weapons
Chapter 130: Ability Engraved Weapons
Heinz had a thoughtful expression on his face. Hearing that question, he eventually answered without putting the prince on the spot anymore. He chuckled, "I suppose you are right, nothing can compare to a rune-engraved weapon, crafted by an expert runecaster himself."
’Damn talk about buttering me up, I can’t believe this guy actually said that.’ exclaimed Axel almost visibly cringing by the words of Heinz.
Thorian nodded with a pleasant smile. He asked, "So, I wonder what you would like us to do? Seeker Heinz and Runecaster Axel?"
Axel inspected everyone who was there, eager to get their hands on the runic weapons as if they were the most precious things in existence. He suggested calmly, "Please form 5 lines, since I have 5 categories of weapons. Each category has 10 weapons for today."
Thorian asked cautiously, "May I ask what the abilities are on each of the 5 categories of weapons?"
Axel hummed thoughtfully and stated in a profound tone, "First of all, you all may or may not know this about runic sorcery, that is each of the abilities that you call which are engraved on the swords each is actually a pseudo rune, which is basically a one-third fragment of a full element or complete rune."
"Now this 5 category of weapons here, 3 category is from the Fire rune, while the other 2 categories of weapons are of the water rune."
"Now let me list you all 5 pseudo runes or the abilities."
Scorching Flame = Fire that causes extreme amounts of continuous pain corresponding to the amount of energy used. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Ashen Flame = Fire that causes everything to burn away, corresponding to the amount of energy used.
Transmutation Flame = Fire that causes everything to mutate correspondingly to the amount of energy used.
Freezing Flow = Water that causes a Freezing sensation to be inflicted on your opponent, corresponding to the amount of energy used.
Dissection Flow = Water that causes everything to chip away like an eternal flow slowly, corresponding to the amount of energy used.
Everyone who heard the details remained absolutely and utterly dumbfounded. Prince Thorian’s calm and controlled expression cracked as a frown appeared on his face. This was no small matter. Even Axel’s close friends, such as Lumina, Vyra, or Heinz, looked at him as if he were a monster.
All of the students had their jaws loosened at the unreal claim of the most promising runecaster who was deemed to be the best in his generation, yet they found it hard to believe his words.
And there was a reason behind everyone’s shocked expressions, a very good reason there to be very honest. That is because most of the weapons of Archon grade only had rudimentary effects in them, something that enhanced the users somehow or improved their specific attributes to minuscule degrees. Their effects were extremely weak, or even if they had some sort of actual ability in it, it would be quite basic. That is, if the magic is magically enchanted by other aspect holders except for runecasters. At least weapons in the lower end of the Archon grade.
The reason why runecasters are held in such high regard is that they can engrave proper abilities into weapons, but even they cannot engrave such abilities into weapons before becoming a 3rd or 4th phase Seeker, abilities that are capable to actually dwarfing the the rules of the continent, abilities that can be regarded as proper manipulation of sorts.
Not only that, any tool of the archon grade had an inherent limit to much maximum damage or effect they can produce, but by the words of Axel, he says the limit is only the amount of energy you can use.
Which is the reason for everyone’s apparent state of shock. But the most shocked person in that place of gathering was most likely Lumina herself, she being a runecaster herself. So, she just realized what sort of impossibility Axel just created.
She had a deep frown on her face, she arched her eyebrows, she had guesses, but no, she wasn’t sure, she needed to see if they could actually do as Axel said, she could only draw her conclusions from there on.
Prince Thorian gazed straight towards Axel and said in a serious undertone, "With all due respect, Runecaster Axel, do you realize the tall claims you are making? This would not look good on you, if you are at the end of it, unable to deliver on such big claims."
Many other students, male and female, all nodded at that statement, seeing that, Axel chuckled visibly towards all of them. He gestured with his hands towards all of them, indicating they try it on for themselves. Thorian nodded, on that note, as he went into a certain category of weapons. Everyone else did, wishing to try out the weapons themselves. Meanwhile, all of Axel’s friends shot him a hateful look for not letting them know any of these things beforehand.
Sigh, Axel knew they would all go pretty much crazy the moment he revealed it, and well, like he said beforehand, he would make personal weapons for each of them later on.
All the students, one by one, began to pick up the weapons in their hands. Thorian Blackvale chose to first test out the sword, which was engraved with the ability of Ashen Flames.
5 academy staff came into that arena with 5 chained creatures of different types. Axel announced, "You can try out the abilities of the swords on these things, but please make sure not to kill them, just test them out slightly. You can only do the full testing for yourselves, after buying my runic swords."
Axel had discussed selling his runic weapons to the academy students in great detail with his gold section’s homeroom professor, Darwin Brown. The professor happily supported his endeavors with no objections or conditions attached.
One of the students asked, "Do you not have any other types of weapons? Like other types of swords, blades, daggers, or spears?"
Axel shook his head and said to the student, "For now, no. Maybe in the future."
Thorian, picking up one of the ten swords which were engraved with the Ashen Flames pseudo rune, felt it in his hands. He felt the weight and the composition of the materials. He surmised the forging of the sword as pretty good. Then he looked at the rune, but did not understand much about it, but it looked quite captivating, to say the least.
He walked out from the line, standing in front of one of the beasts with high defense and durability, he poured his mana onto it, and the moment he did so, the rune on the sword flickered ominously on and off, his mana was being sucked out of him like a monstrous tide, as if it wanted to devour every last bit of his mana.
Thorian, with a strong will, stopped the high consumption of mana from it. The flickering rune stabilized as it was unable to absorb any more energy or had already absorbed it, an ashen colored flame lit up on the whole sword except for its handle, where Thorian was holding it.
Thorian was surprised by the sudden turn of events, and so were all the others, no one else picked up any of the swords, first wanting to see someone else do it, just in case there are some dangers to it, after all runic weapons are known to be quite explosive, if they are unstable, sometimes at least.
Even the creatures showed slightly fearful gestures upon the activation of that flame, as if they could all sense the dangers of it.
