Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 58: Second Polygon Circle
Chapter 58: Second Polygon Circle
Countless swords were spread everywhere, but there were strange runes on almost every single sword; they glowed in a golden light, shimmering in a captivating radiance. While a figure clad in mage clothes sat on the table, holding a strange, magical pen-like artifact, engraving runic symbols on another, same structured sword, similar to all the ones lying on the ground everywhere in the engraving chamber. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
The man continued to engrave one sword after another with no respite, or sense of time in his surroundings, his focus was unwavering, his will was resolute. Runes were glowing in his eyes as well, Anyone could get lost in those two beautiful blue eyes, the patterns in them shimmering in golden hue.
There was one peculiar detail among all of his engraved swords. Every single one of the swords had two different rune symbols, entangled with each other to make a greater, more complex rune. When two of the singular runes come together, they are called twin runes. Similarly, when three singular runes come together, they would be called Tri-runes.
Axel was now engraving all the possible unique combinations of twin runes. Not only did he need to succeed in them, he needed to master all the unique twin rune combinations as well. A few more months had passed, and he was now on the cusp of mastering all the twin runes. This was the last one, and finally, after an uncountable number of tries. He mastered all 276 twin runes in their entirety.
Despite the monstrous amount of effort and the impossible level of difficulty for this daunting task. He completed it in just 1 year and 3 months, if the news got out. The world itself would not believe it. Usually, for a normal runic mage, they needed more than a year to go from normal human to a mage, going through Rank 1 and Rank 2 acolyte stages in between.
But to break through to the 2nd circle mage, one needed 2 years or more. That is only for those who had created a pentagon circle when breaking through to the 1st circle mage. For those who attempted to create their polygon circle with more than 5 runes, the amount of time necessary for each breakthrough would increase exponentially.
But for Axel to complete 276 twin-runes in just one year and 3 months? Even Durein Nightcrown would pale in fright. But Axel didn’t care about those things; now that everything was ready, he needed to make his breakthrough. Unlike his previous advancement, the world did not guide the breakthrough.
Axel activated his liquid mana, which filled his core to the brim, controlling his mana masterfully. Tendrils of mana shot into exactly 276 of the unique twin-rune engraved swords. They started floating while the runes started glowing with even more light, as if excited for the breakthrough of their master. The purpose they were created for, would finally be fulfilled.
A tension grew in the air, and even Axel himself felt nervous. The mana in the air started to tremble in excitement, eager for the advancement of its most heralded genius. Axel, carefully controlling all the rune-engraved swords, formed the perfect shape of a gigantic polygon with exactly 276 sides. The moment the circle was formed. Axel, who was standing in the exact center of it, was hit by a blinding radiance of the polygon.
The swords themselves started to melt down, then a 276-sided polygon made of proper mana and a rune was wielded into existence. Similar to his previous breakthrough, the polygon circle started shrinking more and more; the only difference being, Axel himself was fully conscious this time around. He observed the process with bated breath, it was beyond breathtaking.
The circle itself was a magnificent creation of artistic beauty that could almost be called divine creation in its own captivating might, just for its appearance alone. As it continued to shrink, and the circle eventually touched Axel, his viewpoint immediately turned over as darkness took over his vision.
The soul space appeared in his view as he gazed at the familiar red sun, the nexus rune imprint. His first runic circle was the 24 basic runes forming the polygon encompassing the red sun. Some tendrils of red strings were attached to the 24 corners of the polygon. Now his second polygon of 276 sides encircled his first circle with a much wider area.
His viewpoint automatically zoomed out, the second circle shrank for a while more, then settled down, maintaining a very big gap in between. Both the first and 2nd circle started to tremble. The runic circles of both polygons again glowed in a blinding light.
Tendrils of red strings coming from the red sun that were connected to the first polygon circle became thicker and glowed in a crimson hue. As if the red sun itself was channeling energy through them. Then, from the first polygon circles 24 corners, more red tendrils shot out towards the 2nd circle.
Eventually, all 276 twin rune symbols now had a red tendril connected to them, which came from the runes of the first circle. And the connection was established. Between the first circle, the second circle, and the red sun.
Then the rest of the changes followed, his runic eyes and magic circuit improved further. Impurities came out of him, but they were much smaller in amounts, as he was already cleaned to a great degree. His existence was purified, he became more handsome. His presence grew stronger.
The liquid mana that filled his core to the brim compressed and became gas-like again. It filled one-third of his core, but the power it held was far, far higher. His body glowed in a strange light, and even his exoskeleton and bones went through a profound transformation.
Axel himself was conscious throughout the whole process; such drastic changes throughout his whole body were extremely unpleasant, no scratch that, the feeling was beyond disgusting. The pain was too overwhelming. But it didn’t matter; he was too used to the pain, by now, pain was his old friend. Who he knew all too well.
He smiled, opening his eyes. Thankfully, the mana of the world did not act weird this time. He also warned his master before attempting the breakthrough. Instead of thinking about the changes within him. He closed his eyes and simply felt them, the absolute power coursing through his veins.
The boundless, absolute, supreme power overflowing through every fiber of his being. He felt like he could probably beat 10 of his old self combined, maybe even more. A cold and ruthless expression appeared on his face. His mind became faster, sharper, and powerful. Far above what a mere human should be capable of.
Then he controlled his mana carefully; some of his mana was coming out of his body, and the mana in the air felt submissive towards him. Axel retracted his presence, his mana. Instinctively, he compressed his existence. His presence was now automatically affecting the world itself, it was so powerful.
He needed to actively contain his influence, not announce his bizarre condition and catastrophic power. Now that he had both the 24 basic rune symbols on his soul space, and 276 twin-runes which granted access to countless complex and intricate concepts.
The connection between the red sun, first circle and second circle granted him a certain amount of flexibility to work with compound concepts.
He could start working on one of his projects. He should be able to create something, a tool that could stop the cancer, similar to what his master had created for his little brother.
So, without any unnecessary fanfare, he started working on exactly that.
24 basic rune symbols representing the most primary concepts governing the reality +
276 twin-rune symbols representing more complex concepts = a total of 300 concepts and their various ideas flashed through his eyes.
Time passed as he continued to engrave the runes on various materials, test after test continued, and he failed again and again and again. Countless times, he did not keep count of how many times he was failing. He had taken a big step closer to curing his little brother; nothing else mattered now.
A few more months had passed while Axel drowned himself in his experiments in its entirety, he did not meet his new friends or attend any of the weekly lectures. His master was again utterly rattled by his increase power, he wanted to test how far his strength had grown. But Axel refused, he was too busy with his research.
Except for spending some time with his little brother once in a few days in between, he disregarded everything. Eventually, his experiments halted, and Axel had 5 samples of the artifact ready. Now, any of them could work, or all of them could fail, or they might work somewhat, but not well enough.
These needed to be tested on real cancer patients now. He notified his master that he was going to the Delmar City Hospital to test out his artifacts. Going back to that horrid hospital, he saw the all-too-familiar scenes of poverty, neglect, pain, and suffering. Above all, perhaps the same unfairness of life that he himself was once a helpless victim of.
But he didn’t care, directly meeting with the highest authority of the clinic, bribing the hospital head, and explaining to him about the help that he needed. The authorities agreed with open arms, they did not dare to go against a mage, even the king wouldn’t dare do so. Not to mention the payments for their cooperation were actually defensive artifacts, which could save the lives of the authorities in dire situations.
Axel explained how he needed 5 different cancer patients and they should be put in the same large room, where he would put his artifacts on them, and see the changes in them for one week or more. The various doctors and nurses in the hospital are also to help him with his procedures.
