Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Who’s the one in the coffin?

Luo Yue arrived at the Shentu Group. He squinted at the high-rise building with the grand logo. It was the middle of the year so the sun was high and scorching. The weather was beginning to change more abruptly.

He stepped into the lift and went straight to the CEO office. Along the way, he was recognized by the employees and once he walked off, they all huddled together and whispered.

"Isn’t that Luo Yue, the previous CEO’s secretary?

"Yes, what is he doing here?"

"I heard that Shentu Chu poached him and threatened him to work for him."

"That’s terrible! Our new CEO has a bad reputation. Won’t that affect the company?"

"I have no idea."

"So you came, Luo Yue," Shentu Chu was already waiting, sitting lazily in his chair.

He had gotten back from meeting Qiao Minde. Qiao Minde wasn’t easy to deal with. The two of them had a ’nice’ chat over coffee and ice cream.

Luo Yue bowed before saying,"I thought about it for some time. Maybe I could give it a try,"

"Not could," Shentu Chu smiled. "You SHOULD give it a try. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,"

Luo Yue only nodded. "But I have a question,"

"Please ask," at this point, Shentu Chu sat up straight as if he was interested.

"Why do you want me to work for you?"

Shentu Chu’s thin lips stretched into a smile.

"I think you already know why. Luo Yue, you’re a smart person. You don’t need me to remind you, right? Only I can give you a bright and better future,"

Ring! Ring! Luo Yue’s phone suddenly rang loudly.

Shentu Chu took a casual glance and saw the caller’s ID: Anonymous. The screen was all dark, no picture, no number.

"Uh, sorry," Luo Yue hurriedly off the screen and tucked the phone back into his pocket.

"Who’s that?" Shentu Chu asked, his tone bored.

"Probably an investment scammer," Luo Yue replied.

"Have you decided? Time waits for no man, Luo Yue,"

Luo Yue looked at the ground, and then he finally raised his head to meet Shentu Chu’s dark slightly upturned eyes.

"I’ve decided,"

Shentu Chu smiled when he heard that reply. But that smile somehow made Luo Yue even more uncomfortable. Why did it feel like he was walking into a lion’s den?

Luo Yue walked out of the Shentu Group building, a heavy cloud hung over his shoulders.

Many of the employees started to gossip again about why he came. Luo Yue was Shentu Jing’s most trusted secretary so naturally he knew a lot of the company’s secrets and all of Shentu Jing’s past activities. If anyone poached Luo Yue, that person would gain a huge benefit. Luo Yue could be counted as an old employee in the company.

He looked passed the busy streets and the people rushing back and forth. The crossroads were busier than before. Why didn’t he remember Shengjing as bustling as today?

The voice echoed in his head: "Luo Yue, don’t forget why you are here. You came to me first and begged me. I gave you what you wanted, now you must repay your debt!"

"But he’s already dead! I’m sorry, I can’t go on!"

"You have no choice! Do you really want to walk out of this like that? Think again! Think about the great benefits you’ll lose out if you quit,"

"Those benefits are not important anymore. He treated me well and trusted me, yet I betrayed him! I can’t go on like this!" Luo Yue hurried to the door.

The thunder rumbled like bombs outside, the rain poured endlessly like a thousand arrows, the cold wind howled in the dark night.

"If you do one last thing for me, I can consider letting you go,"

Luo Yue’s fingers trembled around the knob.

"Do you mean what you said?" His voice quivered.

"Yes. If you can complete it,"

"I hope you keep your promises," Luo Yue bit his lips and left.

"Luo Yue?! Hello? Hello?"

Luo Yue was pulled back to the present when a hand waved in front of him. He looked at the mountains far away, it wasn’t raining.

"Luo Yue! What the hell are you doing here? Spacing out?" Jiang Zhaoling put her hands on her hips.

"Uh, nothing. I was just thinking," Luo Yue quickly said.

"Hey, I heard about what they said. Shentu Chu is trying every means to recruit you. What did you say?" Jiang Zhaoling spoke fiercely to him.

"I agreed,"

"What?! Why?!" Jiang Zhaoling’s face instantly twisted into rage.

"Are you betraying my cousin’s soul in heaven?!" The girl was short and small sized but she was extremely fierce like a tigress.

"Miss Jiang, I have nothing to explain to you. Please keep your distance from me in the future," Luo Yue wasn’t interested in explaining anything. He walked passed her and left.

Another traitor! Jiang Zhaoling snorted. One by one, the family was breaking up. Even Shentu Mingye no longer talk or visit her that much. Jiang Zhaoling felt lonely all of sudden.

She missed her cousin very much. She missed Shentu Jing. She missed their bickerings and banterings.

But maybe there was really hope that he was alive, right? A few weeks ago, she secretly dug up his grave and found that the body in the coffin didn’t match with Shentu Jing’s. It might fool everyone but Jiang Zhaoling was close with Shentu Jing. She knew how his figure looked like.

If the one in the coffin wasn’t Shentu Jing, then who’s it is? Where’s the real Shentu Jing’s body?

In Europe.

Jiang Wubai arrived at the hospital where Song Ping was transferred to. They talked with the Western doctors and nurses, discussing the details of the surgery.

The surgery was tomorrow. Whether it’ll be successful or not, it was hard to say. Qin Zhuzhu stood on the balcony of the hospital, the cold wind blew her skirt, she felt worried and scared.

What if the surgery failed? What if she didn’t make it? What if-

A large palm suddenly put a coat around her shoulders, enveloping her in a blanket of warmth.
