Those numbers echoed in her mind. Seven years ago, after that road accident, Pulan didn’t want to have anything to do with Chen He or the Qiao family. But because Grandpa Qiao asked her to return, that’s why she came back.

He gritted his teeth and stared at Qiao ShenJi, eyes full of hatred. Though he knew that she was crazily in love with Qiao ShenJi, he still wanted to let her know that he, too cared deeply for her and would give her the world if she wanted it. He, too was capable of protecting and loving her.

Then with their hands interwined together, the couple made their way towards a large dark brown table, where most of the family members and relatives gathered.

Chen He was allowed to walk into the Qiao mansion because his father was the family’s friend.

They didn’t get to see the malicious smile on his lips as he watched the couple leave.

Many of people in the large grandiose hall stared at Qiao ShenJi and Pulan like they were virus and bacteria which might spead some sort of disease to them.

They were avoided like flies. Their gazes held disdain and contempt as they shook their heads in disapproval.

Pulan could already hear some girls gossiping and staring at them unfriendly.

Sigh, they were probably saying bad things about she and her husband again. She decided not to bother with. They weren’t important.

"Look who is here. It is not Pulan and her husband who follows her around like a puppy," a girl said in a cocky and mean manner. This was Qiao Xue, Pulan’s other cousin from her father’s side. The other girls laughed and mocked them.

Well, it was like this. Pulan’s father, Qiao Nai, was the youngest brother in his generation. He had two older brothers. Qiao Nai married a rich woman and had two children, Qiao Nian and Qiao Tong with her. Qiao Nai was also Qiao Minde’s father but with an unknown woman. Pulan was tempted to say something harsh to slap Qiao Xue in the face but ShenJi squeezed her hand, getting her attention. He didn’t want her to cause a scene and become a laughing stock because of him, though the couple was already considered a laughing stock.

So Pulan merely just walked pass Qiao Xue and Qiao Wen. She settled on a chair with her husband by her side. But Qiao Xue seems to be eager to ruffle Pulan’s feathers because the latter continued badmouthing her in front of everyone.

"I can’t believe grandfather invited her and her matrilocal husband over," Qiao Xue said while checking out her nails. Qiao Xue was super obsessed with her appearance and nails. She treasured them as if they were gold.

"Yeah, her puppy! I can’t believe what Third Uncle and Auntie were thinking when they allowed such marriage. Such a stain on the family’s name, don’t you have anything to say?" Qiao Wen addressed her rudely.

Pulan didn’t noticed it until her two cousins started talking about it - where was her parents? She looked around but didn’t see that. Was it true that they refused to meet her? Or even give her a glance? For god’s sake, she was their biological daughter!

Pulan would have started crying if this was her old self. But in front of her family members who would be so happy to see her weakness, no, she can’t cry.
