Fake Marriage To The Richest Tycoon-Chapter 207: Grandpa’s arrival
Chapter 207: Chapter 207: Grandpa’s arrival
Everyone stiffened, especially Qiao Wen whose expression suddenly dropped.
Qiao Xue stopped clapping, and the whole room suddenly became eerily quiet as they watch Grandpa Qiao made his way down the marble staircase. Pulan’s parents stood by his side, offering support for the old man while the butler followed silently behind.
Pulan’s eyes watered as she spotted her mother and father coming down the stairs. It turns out what Qiao Wen had said wasn’t true.
She almost believed it. Qiao ShenJi once again regain his calm composure and took Pulan’s hand in his.
Finally the old man reached the bottom of the steps with an exasperated sigh. What was this? The family were at each other’s throats once again. And no one was standing up for his precious granddaughter, not even her own sister and brother. Poor child.
At the very least, Qiao Minde taught the culprit a lesson. But this lesson seems.... too much.
Qiao Wen’s mother frantically gestured for her to return to her seat and for Qiao Xue to put her hands down. Qiao Tong approached them, standing shyly and appearing friendly though much earlier she didn’t bothered to stand by her sister.
"I see the whole family is here," Grandpa Qiao chuckled. He tried to ease the tension in the air.
Although old and frail looking, Grandpa Qiao still exuded an aura of authority and power coupled with his wisdom, he was known to be very scheming and cunning.
No one answered. They had no idea what was the old man thinking about. Qiao Wen and Qiao Xue silently wondered if they were in trouble.
"Look who’s here, my baby girl’s all grown up. Come here, child," Grandpa Qiao waved Pulan over who immediately gave the old man a warm embrace.
"Grandfather," She threw her arms around the old man and held on tightly. She missed him. She missed her grandfather badly. Tears slipped from the corner of her eyes.
It was because of her grandfather did her parents and scheming relatives allowed the marriage between her ShenJi to run smoothly. It was because of her grandfather did she get proper education at schools, enough food on the table, warm and comfy clothes every winter, and protection from her siblings and relatives.
If if wasn’t for her grandfather, she wouldn’t have survived all these years. Her parents nor her siblings play a part in making her life happy or better.
"What’s wrong, my dear? Are you okay? How is everything for you? Were they making it hard for you again? Tell grandpa and I’ll have them punished," Grandpa Qiao comforted her like a child.
In his eyes, Pulan was still a child though he knew she was grown up. freewebnøvel.com
She shook her head despite the tears that flowed down her cheeks.
Qiao Wen and Qiao Xue were tensed. They knew that if Pulan told the old man it was them who made her cry, their lives wouldn’t be turning for the better any time soon.
Heck, that old man would make them clean and scrub the entire mansion squeaky clean like last time they taunted and bullied Pulan. So lesson learned, they had to keep their big vulgar mouths to themselves.
"No. Grandfather, no. They weren’t," Pulan said, telling him a white lie. She didn’t want the old man to be worried about her, not especially when his health is falling. He was growing old and shouldn’t be bothered by her matters.
He patted her on the hand. "Come, sit beside me," he sat down at the head of the table. He motioned for the reluctant young lady to sit next to him.
Pulan walked pass her angry and jealous relatives and siblings who no doubt stared at her back as if trying to bore a hole through her. In their heads they were asking, why was she better than them?
Why does she have that I don’t have to make grandpa favour her so much? What qualifications does that bitch have to sit beside the old man?
Thankfully she couldn’t read minds or else the whole room would erupted in another arguement. Her parents Qiao Nai and Gu Xing sat on the other side of Grandpa Qiao, not saying a word, their faces devoid of emotions.
Qiao Minde sat on the other side, face void of emotions. It was at that moment that Qiao Nian walked into the room.
She greeted everyone and Grandpa Qiao.
"Come here, Ah Nian! You look so beautiful!"
Qiao Nian smiled and hugged the old man.
"Grandpa, you have become more handsome!" She praised, her eyes twinkling.
"What nonsense! How can grandpa become more handsome?" The old man laughed and joked. It seems like Pulan and Qiao Nian were his most favourite grandchildren.
"Oh, ShenJi!" The old man exclaimed happily. "You’re here too. It’s good to see you. Come here and let me take a good look at this prince charming," he motioned for Qiao ShenJi to come closer.
All eyes, too, stared angrily at him as he made his way across the room. The old man was the only one who complimented Qiao ShenJi on his handsome features.
Qiao ShenJi was actually born handsome with a gentle appearance that made everyone think that he was a weakling.
In fact he was more handsome than the rest of them which made some of their blood boil with anger. If he was dressed in luxurious suits and shoes, he would be stunningly handsome, like a diamond in the sky.
But Qiao ShenJi was a low profile man because he didn’t want to bring trouble to his wife.
Her relatives and family would attack her at every chance they get.
"Come and sit here, ShenJi and let me have a good look at this dashing young man who stole my granddaughter’s heart," the old man chuckled.
He took a good look at ShenJi and said, "Such a bright young man. I wasn’t wrong when I approved of your marriage,"
"Thank you, old master Qiao, I-" Qiao ShenJi said before the old man cut him off.
"Call me grandpa," the old man’s eyes brightened.
"Yes, Grandpa," ShenJi nodded.
Qiao Tong stared at Qiao ShenJi with disdain. Grandpa? Hah! He was not even qualified to be Qiao, let alone call the reputable old man so intimately. He should have stuck to his old surname of Tang!
