Chapter 251: Chapter 250: He gave her earrings

Shentu Ling didn’t approach them. She only watched from afar.

"Where is that girl? Said she was going to buy me food," Old Master Shentu grumbled.

"What girl, grandpa?" Qin Zhuzhu gently asked. With him, she felt like she was reunited with her grandpa. They were alike in many ways.

"My granddaughter, Ling’er," the old man huffed.

"Don’t worry, grandpa. Maybe the queue’s long. I’ll accompany grandpa," Qin Zhuzhu said. She had thought that grandpa came here alone, but didn’t expect that he brought Shentu Ling along! Last time at the Shentu mansion, she realized that Shentu Ling didn’t like her. Qin Zhuzhu wasn’t sure whether would there be a conflict if they meet. It would be best to avoid her in case of upsetting the old man.

Then Old Master Shentu’s eyes landed on her jade bangle. Mist appeared in his eyes

This girl was already of age. Should he tell her or no? Old master Shentu gripped his cane tighter. Qin Zhuzhu noticed that the old man was tensed.

"Grandpa? Grandpa, are you okay?" She put a hand on his forehead, a worried expression on her face.

"Hahaha, silly girl. I’m fine," he pushed her hand away gently.

Shentu Ling noticed a dark shadow not far from her. She hid behind a wooden pillar of one shop and looked ahead. She saw the side profile of a man, hiding behind the tree, wearing a black hanfu.

That face....

She looked to where the man was looking at - Qin Zhuzhu and Old Master Shentu.

Many hours later, Qin Zhuzhu bid farewell to Old Master Shentu.

"Bye, grandpa!" She waved.

"Bye. Come visit when you have more time, okay?"

"Okay!"

When Qin Zhuzhu left, Shentu Ling came out from behind the pillar and approached Old Master Shentu. When she looked again, the man was no longer there.

A strange feeling washed over her. She took a deep breath.

"Where have you been? Do you know that I have been waiting for you so long?! Hmph!" He hit his cane against the ground angrily.

Shentu Ling gave him a weak smile. "Sorry, grandpa. The queue was long. I didn’t get to buy you anything. It was sold out,"

"Luckily I’ve already eaten with XiaoZhu. If not, I’ll starve to death waiting for you!" he scolded her.

Shentu Ling put on a regretful expression and apologize. In her heart, she was actually happy to get scolded by him. Old master Shentu hasn’t been very active or energetic lately, let alone scold them with this much vigor.

Hearing him scold her means that his mood was getting better and better. He was recovering from his mental disease - the pain of losing a loved one.

Qin Zhuzhu was wearing her normal clothes, a simple T shirt and a pair of tattered jeans as she ran down the road, looking for Shentu Jing and Peixuan Ruxi.

She hasn’t seen them for many hours. Where did they go? They didn’t abandoned her, no?

Just as she ran past an intersection, a strong hand caught her wrist and pulled her to a dark corner.

Qin Zhuzhu gasped and braced herself as she landed on a hard chest. She looked up, staring straight into eyes that still have some makeup around them.

Shentu Jing was back in his clothes, a white shirt and slacks. But he didn’t remove the remaining makeup from his face. The makeup artist did a good job of enhancing his eyes, putting them to their full charm.

It was hard to say a word when he was looking at her like this. Shentu Jing held her tightly in his arms, gazing at her tenderly yet possessively.

"What’s wrong, Shentu Jing?" Qin Zhuzhu managed to speak.

"Nothing. I just want to look at you every day," he replied.

It was a simple sentence yet her head started to become giddy.

She looked away and cleared her throat.

"Aren’t we too close? I can’t breath," She tried to hide the flush in her cheeks.

But Shentu Jing gave her no room to hide. He reached out and made her look him in the eyes, fingers on her chin.

"So what? I want you to have nothing else in your breathing space but me," he leaned down.

Qin Zhuzhu became nervous, gripping his white shirt tighter from behind. Her breathing accelerated and she ended up squeezing her eyes shut.

The next moment, her lips were kissed by the man’s possessive yet gentle ones. When they broke the kiss, her eyes opened slowly and she looked up at him.

He caressed her cheek and rubbed her ear.

"Little Pearl, I want to give you something," his husky voice half whispered to her ear.

"W..what?"

Shentu Jing released his grip on her and took out something from his pocket.

He opened the small box and held out a pair of earrings.

Qin Zhuzhu stared at them, surprised. Then she reached out and gently brushed her fingers against them.

Shentu Jing took her hand and lead her to the ancient stone bridge overlooking a water canal. Boats drifted across the canal, people walked passed them.

This time, the earrings were in the light. Qin Zhuzhu took a good look at them. They were made of gold and silver, adorned with a red crystal flame spreading upwards. Sprouting from that flame was a phoenix and dragon, entwined.

Qin Zhuzhu looked closely at the earrings, spotting something shiny.

"Why must you engraved your name on them?" She asked, giving him a ridiculous look.

"I want the whole world to know that you, Qin Zhuzhu, is my woman,"

The way he possessively say those words made Qin Zhuzhu blushed. Her heart started jumping around crazily in her chest.

After a few minutes, she spoke up.

"I can’t accept them. They are too expensive!" She pushed the earrings back to him.

"It’s not because they are expensive that you don’t want to accept them. It’s because you already guessed my intentions, isn’t it?"

Qin Zhuzhu froze, her tongue stiffened.

"Little Pearl, I have never hid my intentions from you. I don’t care how many men you had. I want to be the last one. I want to be the only one in your heart. Little Pearl, I will wait for you, even if it means waiting an eternity. I, Shentu Jing, am willing,"
