“Okay, you guys keep busy, I’m going to try setting up a new bait spot over there!” Lei Lei greeted before leaving with the bait.
Xiao Ma and Wang Jian were a bit baffled to see Lei Lei had come back with two bags of bait that bore a huge brand label after just asking about the fish activity.
Curious, Wang Jian asked, “What’s the deal?
How did you end up bringing back hand food after just asking about the fish?”
“That guy is in the same line of work as you, and he happened to have hand food with him, so I casually bought two packs to try out!”
Upon hearing this, Wang Jian’s face looked a bit displeased.
From Lei Lei’s perspective, coming out to fish definitely means focusing on the fish catch.
Since Wang Jian’s bait was not effective, and the young angler was constantly getting bites, it made perfect sense to try switching the bait.
However, from the standpoint of Wang Jian, a fishing shop owner, it didn’t feel right; he kindly brought two customers out for fishing, only to find they didn’t trust his products.
Anyone would probably not look too happy in this situation.
“Let me have a look, what good stuff is this?” Xiao Ma reached out to ask for it.
Lei Lei had a good relationship with Xiao Ma and handed over the unopened bag easily.
After taking a simple look at the Rice Wine and the dough bait, Xiao Ma couldn’t see anything remarkable about them.
The Rice Wine was just regular crushed corn kernels with a mild scent of alcohol, and nothing about the bait material stood out as special; the overall flavor profile was just a common fishy scent.
To be honest, it was much inferior to the imported Marukyu bait they were using.
“This is no good either, just some cheap stuff!” Xiao Ma said after looking it over.
Lei Lei thought differently, having witnessed someone catching fish with it, he had to try it out: “Just give it a try, what if it works!”
“Heh, I want to see what miraculous effects this new bait can have!” Wang Jian said, with a gloomy face.
Wang Jian judged that today’s fish activity wasn’t great and it had little to do with the bait; he had switched several varieties from Fish Guard to Hand Food, and none were significantly effective.
If this low-grade bait that looked no different from the Wild Station Blue Crucian Carp turned out to be effective, that would really be something.
Lei Lei was entirely focused on fishing and didn’t notice Wang Jian’s expression; he picked up his Fishing Box from the fishing platform, moved the platform to the non-grey fishing area that Yue Feng had pointed him towards, and actually set it up there.
After re-setting the platform, he began the usual baiting ritual.
Lei Lei’s actions were pretty rough; he dumped half of the one-pound package of Rice Wine into his freshly made bait spot.
Having set up his spot, Lei Lei found himself without much to do and his attention was temporarily drawn to Yue Feng’s drone live stream.
Having been broadcasting for over half an hour, Yue Feng’s live stream had already reached 400+ viewers.
The atmosphere in the room was great, with an audience made up of both fishing enthusiasts and cute girls just there for fun, throwing one mischievous joke after another, some of which were even too much for Yue Feng to bear to look at.
It was then that the role of the intelligent room management became clear, jokes were fine and edgy comments tolerated, but as soon as comments crossed the line, they were blocked, with a private message of warning sent out.
After two warnings, if the behavior persisted, commenting privileges would be banned.
After Lei Lei set up his bait spot, the focus of his friend Xiao Ma and the fishing shop owner Wang Jian was also drawn over to this side.
Xiao Ma was curious to see if his good brother’s new bait spot was effective, while Wang Jian was hoping to see Lei Lei and Yue Feng make fools of themselves.
It wouldn’t take more than half an hour to see whether the fish would bite or not, and then he could enjoy kicking them while they were down.
Wang Jian’s plans were well made, but it wasn’t long before they were shattered.
In less than ten minutes after preparing his bait spot, Lei Lei’s fishing point was already surrounded by a dense array of fish shadows.
Lei Lei switched to a new Lure and cast it into the water, and as soon as it hit bottom, he noticed the float twitched—a fish had bitten!
“Haha! freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Got a bite!” Lei Lei called out with a bit of excitement, his burly arm gripping the fishing rod and forcefully pulling up the crucian carp.
“Damn, Lei actually caught a fish!” Seeing his good buddy hook a fish, Xiao Ma was getting restless at his own fishing spot.
Wang Jian curled his lip: “Who doesn’t eat dumplings during New Year’s?
It’s just one fish, could be a blind cat stumbling upon a dead mouse!”
But it didn’t take long for the fish activity around Lei Lei’s bait spot to slap Wang Jian right in the face.
After the bait spot was prepared, Lei Lei’s catch rate increased.
In no time, he was pulling them in rapidly, almost two fish for every three casts, none of them small.
One after another, he pulled up more than a dozen crucian carps, each weighing over half a pound.
“Heh heh, Brother Jian, I’m not sticking around to watch the floats anymore, don’t blame me for not being loyal!” Xiao Ma called out and started to pack up his gear.
Lei and Xiao Ma have been childhood friends, growing up together like brothers.
For activities like fishing and preparing bait spots, they didn’t need to communicate.
After bustling about, moving his Fishing Box and adjusting his fishing platform, Xiao Ma had moved beside Lei Lei.
“Look at you, Lei, the bait and preparations you bought might not look impressive, but they seem really effective in action!”
Lei Lei removed a hooked crucian carp and tossed it into the Fish Guard, then said, “I’ve still got half a pack left, if the fish stop biting later, we can pour the rest in together!”
“Sure!
Let’s indulge for a while!
I’ve barely caught a few fish this morning, nowhere near your catch rate!”
Getting approval from his buddy, Lei actually slowed down.
He hopped down from the fishing platform and hustled over to where Yue Feng was.
“Hey, man!
Got any extra bait left?
It works really well.
Sell me a few more packs!”
Yue Feng turned around upon hearing the call, “No more, I only brought this much.
If you need, you can go to the shop with me in the evening to get some!”
“Okay!
I’ll call out when I’m packing up, and we can go together!” Getting an affirmative response, Lei Lei went back to his own fishing spot.
“Does the bait seller over there still have stock?” Xiao Ma asked casually.
Lei Lei glanced at Wang Jian from the corner of his eye and whispered, “All gone.
Told him I’d go with him to the store in the evening to get some.
Don’t let Wang Jian know, that guy is really petty!”
“We’re not his lackeys, who cares about him?
The way he prices things is already a rip-off, it’s just that we don’t make a fuss.
If his stuff isn’t good, why should we buy exclusively from him?”
“True, but it’s not bad to leave some room when doing things!
You can’t avoid him!” Lei Lei added in persuasion.
“Alright, I got it!”
Whatever the young duo muttered privately, Wang Jian definitely couldn’t hear.
But seeing Lei Lei go to Yue Feng again, Wang Jian was still a bit upset.
He had finally managed to maintain two big clients, only to have them so easily swayed by a competitor, which left him feeling particularly aggrieved.
Watching the three on his right steadily catch fish, Wang Jian grew restless at his spot and also began to stroll along the shore, heading straight for where Yue Feng was.
