"Amelia Anderson truly has a heart of gold," Eunice confessed, tears of joy streaming down her face as she received the good news from her son.

For someone who had already given up hopes on living after Amelia coldly discharged them the previous days, her glimmering eyes beamed with life.

"Let's call and thank her, using the number your sister sent you," Rowland suggested to his son, who nodded in response.

When Kelvin tried calling Amelia on the number, the line failed to connect.

The automated electronic female voice said the number didn't exist.

"I think this number Tina gave me is no longer operational."

"I'm guessing you know why." Rowland shook his head in disappointment. "But not to worry. Your mother and I will find a way to get in touch with her and thank her in person. In the meantime, you need to start leaving for the airport or you might miss your flight."

Kelvin nodded, seeing that he was already running late. "When this whole issue about the drug smuggling blows off, I will come back to the city to formally thank them."

"That a good idea." Eunice agreed.

Kelvin picked up his luggage, ready to leave when something struck him.

"Dad, remember how Blaze's wife said we need to make amend for Tina's mistake."

"Yes..." Rowland nodded.

"Well, I think we should start working on that as soon as possible. I'll get Tina to prepare and forward a public apology statement to me which I will forward to you. Then we could release a press statement to the movie award academy and the public, apologizing on her behalf. Afterwards, we could reach out to all those she might have offended and try to make peace with them."

"That is a brilliant idea." Rowland nodded proudly.

"After the press releases and apology, maybe Tina can come back home." Eunice suggested, avoiding her husband's gaze.

"Please, Eunice, do not ruin the mood." Rowland tilted his furrowed brows to Kelvin. "If you're ready, son, let's go."

Later that same day, Vera was busy attending to Maria's hygiene when she observed Maria's fingers move on their own.

Vera gasped.

"Oh my goodness!"

Vera quickly put aside the towel she was using to wipe Maria's body as she leaned closer to her face calling softly.

"Maria!"

"..."

"Maria, can you hear me?" Vera called softly again, her heart pounding in her chest as she gently stroked Maria's forehead, hoping her eyes would open. But there was no response.

Trying a third time, Vera adopted a different method.

"Maria, if you can hear me, give me a sign."

To Vera's amazement, Maria's fingers move again.

"Oh my goodness! You can hear me." Vera cupped her mouth and sprinted out of the ward to get the doctor.

A few moments later, a team of doctors and nurses, surrounded Maria's bedside, carrying out a few tests on her. Her vitals were taken and more medication was administered to her.

At the end of their medical procedure, they informed Vera and Eugene, who had just arrived with lunch for his mother, that Maria was in the process of waking up.

Instantly, Blaze and Amelia were alerted to this new development.

Within thirty minutes of informing them, Blaze and Amelia, escorted by Henry, both arrived at the hospital.

They were all excited to see Maria, hoping she had finally regained consciousness.

Sadly, when they got to her bedside she was still in her peaceful slumber.

"I thought she would be awake by now?" Blaze's forehead furrowed.

When he lowered his face to plant a kiss on her forehead, he observed that her face was no longer looking extremely pale like before. He also noticed her eyeballs moving a little as if she was trying to open her eyes.

"The doctor said she's currently in her subconscious state," Vera explained to her nephew. "He said she could remain like this for the next few minutes, hours or even days before she wakes up completely. But here is the fun part, he said she can hear everything we say."

"Really!" Amelia's teary eyes lit up like a million sparkly stars.

"Yes!" Eugene concurred.

"Wow! That's awesome!" Amelia chimed happily. She took Maria's right hand into hers, stroking it tenderly as she cooed

"Hello, mom!"

In response, Amelia felt Maria's right hand squeeze hers.

"Baby, look, she can really hear me. She is holding my hand." Amelia showed Maria's firm grip on her hand to Blaze.

"Oh my goodness! This is amazing." Blaze kissed the back of his mother's hand in his wife's hand while Amelia tenderly stroked his hair, an intimacy that warmed the hearts of everyone in the room.

Henry was the happiest of all, seeing his best friend and wife get back together like they used to be or even more.

However, he didn't get to watch this intimacy as Vera quickly shooed him and Eugene out of the room, closely following behind them to give the couple some space with Maria.

"Mom, if you can hear me, I need you to know that I miss you so much," Blaze whispered, tears of immeasurable happiness streaming down his cheeks and falling on his mother's face.

The part of Maria's face were the tears touched slowly warm up giving a faint blush.

Amelia kept stroking Blaze's hair as he poured out his heart to his first true love.

"I was so scared that you were going to leave me like Dad did. I felt so lost and alone at some point. I even got so mad that I did a lot of stupid things I know you're going to stroke me about when you finally wake up. But I can't wait to hear your sweet reprimanding voice. I don't care if you even have to pull both my ears as long as I see those beautiful eyes of yours."

Amelia chuckled amid tears, her heart melting for her husband as he continued talking.

"I want you to know that thanks to you, I'm going to be a father and Amelia, a mum. You are going to be a proud grandma and I can't wait to see you hold our child in your arms. I love you so much, Mom."

Blaze looked up at his wife, his childish smile lighting up her heart. "And I love you till infinity, Amelia."

Amelia bit down on her lower lips, her heart swirling with overwhelming emotions as she replied. "I love you too, Blaze."

Maria opened her eyelid faintly, a smile slowly spreading across her slightly pale lips as she watched Blaze and Amelia share a tender kiss in front of her.

But before they broke away from their kiss, she slipped back into the darkness, with the smile still lingering on her lips.
