Chapter 787: 773 Void Test Hands (Part 2)

The warships of the Seven Phoenix Civilization, upon the appearance of the Void Fleet, had preemptively launched an all-out assault.

“The Seven Phoenix Civilization is indeed a leading civilization; their actions clearly indicate some understanding of the Void Demons. But do you really think that with this you can defeat the Void Demons? That’s a bit too naive,” Nan Ma said with a mocking smile on his face as he watched the barrage of gunfire assault the Void Fleet.

The entire Void Fleet performed a psychic jump.

Many Void warships scattered into every corner of space, some even closer to the Seven Phoenixes’ warships. Yet not a single shell hit the Void warships; utilizing rapid psychic jumps without much preparation, the Void warships deployed their deadliest weapon—the Erase Beam.

Though called a light beam, in reality, there was no shadow of light at all. If we employ a vivid analogy, it’s like a pencil drawing on a sheet of paper, and the Erase Beam is like an eraser; it doesn’t exist on the paper. As the eraser rubs over the paper, tearing it apart, a tear forms along its path, and when it reaches the warship, the warship also gets erased and the paper torn.

This is the Erase Beam, not existing in the material space, a terrifying weapon whose mere appearance damages the material space. Each shot of the Erase Beam has a range of no more than 500 kilometers, but each one can erase matter within and around the target area, including causing spatial rifts in the original cosmic environment, into which any passing ship could fall and vanish.

Strictly speaking, matter isn’t lost when it is sucked into a black hole—it is compressed into an extremely small point. However, when struck by an Erase Beam, it’s obliterated.

This is precisely why the Void Demons are so dreadful. They don’t have any other weapons but the Erase Beam, and their ships only use psychic jumps and zero-point energy propulsion, yet they leave almost all civilizations in the material universe helpless.

A blast from the Erase Beam struck a Seven Phoenix Civilization warship, eradicating half its hull on the spot. The remaining half, due to inertia, crashed into the newly formed spatial rift and was utterly destroyed.

The Void Demons’ warships kept performing psychic jumps in an apparently disordered but highly effective manner, appearing before the Seven Phoenixes’ warships, firing Erase Beams within range, and then jumping away. They cooled their weapons, and then jumped thousands of kilometers to attack again.

The constant warship jumps created a bizarre sight on the battlefield, one moment there, the next gone. The previously confident Commander of the Seven Phoenix Civilization had completely lost his composure by this point, shouting to his fleet, “Get us out of here, retreat!”

But no matter how fast the Seven Phoenixes moved, they couldn’t outpace the Void Demons performing psychic jumps. Like the Grim Reaper, the Void warships relentlessly reaped the Seven Phoenix Civilizations’ warships using a monotonous yet effective tactic.

In the turmoil following the galaxy merger, the Seven Phoenix Civilization had unavoidably weakened. They suffered heavy losses in their operation to suppress the Iridium Star with the Galactic Empire, and further losses erupted in conflicts over the assets left behind by the Galactic Empire with other leading civilizations after the cataclysm.

Now, as the Void Demons knocked on their door, the Seven Phoenix people felt such helplessness and vulnerability.

“Could it be that our Seven Phoenix Civilization is going to end completely?” the Commander thought in fear.

He burst into bluish flames, his entire being eventually turning into fire. This was the Seven Phoenixes’ Nirvana; through it, they could extend their lives. And in moments of great fear and near death, Nirvana could also be triggered automatically.

Nan Ma felt somewhat disappointed in the performance of the Seven Phoenix Civilization and said, “I had thought the battle would be more back and forth, but it seems the Void Demons are too strong and the Seven Phoenixes too weak. Since that’s the case, let this once-glorious civilization become a part of the history of the Galaxy. My Void Demons, turn their planets into a paradise of the Void as well.”

“It would be a pleasure.” came the consciousness of the Void Demon. frёewebnoѵēl.com

To the Void Demons, they were not so keen on combat, but they found existence in this material world to be terribly agonizing. Expanding the void and creating unstable, shattered faux-void environments allowed them to live with a bit more ease.

Wave after wave of Erase Beams began to pass over the Seven Phoenix’s fleet and descended upon the Seven Phoenixes’ homeworld. Next, Nan Ma witnessed an incredibly beautiful scene: The entire planet seemed to be engulfed in icy blue flames, a gigantic blaze as if igniting the world itself.

“Nirvana, is it? But even if you are reborn, with matter itself negated, where will you be reborn to?” Nan Ma squinted and smiled.

Fragments of space eventually shredded the once incredibly beautiful planet, the homeworld of the Seven Phoenix Civilization, which had created numerous exquisite artworks and cultures, was utterly destroyed by the Void Demons.

The Seven Phoenix Civilization’s spaceships, which guarded their homeworld, also went mad trying to stop the Void warships, but even as they burned in the blue flames, they couldn’t change anything. The Void Demons’ Erase Beams continued to effortlessly carry them off.

What could defeat the Void, and how could one destroy the antithesis of matter? The Seven Phoenixes didn’t know; they tried different methods, different weapons, whether it was supremely powerful nuclear weapons, terrible bombs capable of creating pulsars, or the ultimate burst of energy. None of these could destroy the Void Demons.

Mastering Psychic Jumps, the Void Demons continued to jump away and then back again. The hulls of their warships might be damaged, and some Void warships were completely unable to function due to the destruction of their outer shell, but the Void Demons inside would move to other Void warships and continue their destruction.

This was an endless campaign of extermination, a war of a species that truly didn’t belong in this world, to obliterate something else.

The Seven Phoenix Civilization still had other planets, but their main battle fleet and homeworld had already been eradicated by Nan Ma and the Void Demons. The downfall of this civilization was already sealed.

“Lost six warships, have we?” Nan Ma took stock of his fleet, neither surprised nor at ease with the outcome.

“With such strength, we should be able to go head-to-head with the Iridium Star people now. Although the Elder Race can exist in the Void, its empire cannot.” Nan Ma stroked his bald head, believing he had a good chance of completing his mission.

However, three Void Demons came to his spaceship again.

“Our consumption is tremendous; we need to restore our bodies in this star region. Acting in the material world is truly an unpleasant thing,” they said.

In surprise, Nan Ma asked, “You’re falling behind at a time like this? Tell me, how long will you need?”

“At least three months before we can launch the next attack.”
